They looked like a tired team the entire game. Even in the first half, they looked slow. No energy. I know USC flew out there on Friday afternoon. It is a long flight. Plus they had a long bus ride after that. You play on Saturday. I have flown cross country numerous times in my life. The next day I am exhausted. USC should have flown there on Thursday for a Saturday game. Penn State flew out to Los Angeleson the Thursday. I also believe we need to play Jayden Maiava. I have been calling for him to see the field for a while now. We were outcoached and outplayed on Saturday. Not acceptable.

True, but SC still had big time recruits, AND, has done respectable in the transfer portal, so it's not like he was working with a bare cupboard. In hindsight, take away CW, and SC would be way below .500, and even SC's talent level wasn't at below .500 when LR got there. Coaches all over do a lot more with a lot less.

When you give the head coach, Lincoln Riley, a guaranteed contract for 10 years, and I am understanding at the current time he's guaranteed $88 million, what's his incentive to be better? He's going to get $88 million for sleeping on the job. Unbelievable, that institutions will give out these types of contracts out of desperation to get that big name and pay for it dearly as USC is experiencing right now. Rumors of wanting to avoid Oregon, and that he wanted to get out of the LSU game. Being okay with ending the Notre Dame rivalry. Cancelling Old Miss match ups and scheduling Missouri State. Not happy with OU moving to the SEC and now today he didn’t go for the two yards on fourth down to seal the game. Riley is a coward and it seeps into the players he coaches.

If the recruiting class falls apart, then there’s no reason to bring him back. At that point, start over with Matt Entz or D’Anton Lynn as the next HC to keep the team together.

Lincoln was successful when he had Heisman quarterbacks. He destroyed Oklahoma's program for money, and he got hired on at USC based on his success at Oklahoma. Keep in mind Lincoln inherited a program at Oklahoma from Bob Stoops, which had much to do with his successful program. He knew it, and that's why he gutted Oklahoma and took coaches and players with him to USC. Had he not, the facade would have been exposed Sooner. Now it's all coming to light. Riley is good, but not good enough to win without key elements.

We are hopeless. What a digrace and embarrassment to the school, alumni, program and students. The athletic department better fire LR this season. While the program like Oregon's has been excelling and elevating to the elite status, we have been downgraded to the bottom. We can't even beat teams like Maryland, Tulane, and Minnesota. LR era is worse than when Clay Helton was in charge. This setback will hurt us for many years to come.

MD fan here - I can't speak to other issues regarding this year's USC team but we're still having a hard time against B1G schools because we were built for ACC football (speed but not necessarily size). That and the increased distances to travel. Having to go coast-to-coast for an in-conference game is crazy and I don't envy the team or the fans. You'll get there, just be patient.

We wanted to believe and support the coaches, but USC has really messed up on so many hires when looking back. USC had Kiffin and Sark at their lowest points. USC had them when both coaches needed to do some soul searching before they eventually became better coaches for other programs. They overlooked Coach O. They overlooked Chris Petersen. They kept Helton too long because of a very poorly timed contract extension. And Lincoln Riley looked good based on what he did at Oklahoma (albeit with Grinch around), but here we are in Year 3 in a situation no different than from when Helton was here. And buying out Lincoln’s contract is even more expensive than Helton’s. More fool’s gold unfortunately. It sure feels like the program’s best days are behind it the way things are going. How many more screwups and failures will there be before things turn around… I want to be proven wrong and see this team return to playing like a championship-caliber team, but right now they’re not even close to playing like one.

This is the Big Ten now Riley! "Lesser" teams in this conference will beat you everytime if you let them hang around long enough! You continue to play conservative, relying on the clock to help you, or hoping a gassed out defense can save the day, when they can't. Rileys play calling is suspect, when you should be attacking "weaker" teams, and putting them to bed! Riley has a bad habit of leaving games in the refs hands, or hoping a field goal kicker is trustworthy enough to win you a game, but he hasn't shown that! This "offensive genius" is supposed to be outcoaching with better play designs and threatening wrinkles that other teams would cringe and be scared of. Riley continues to lay down in the 4th quarter of these games and lets "underachieving" bad teams hang around only to beat you! Riley acts like he has dementia and runs out of plays to call in the 3rd & 4th quarters, not attacking teams and plays not to lose! THAT'S NOT USC FOOTBALL! This is utterly embarrassing and its NOT all on the players! Riley, YOU have to put them in position to excell and you're the weakest link! ✌️

As a USC fan of course fans will always rush to blame the HC. Yes it’s somewhat LR fault, but our Defense got hit with injuries. Plus Miller Moss is not the guy,he’s not what everybody think he is. People tend for forget Moss was not recruited by LR. Moss is the last remaining survivor from the Clay Helton era. I believe LR has yet to find his typical QB. Perhaps hopefully LR will start Maiava, a mobile QB that Riley recruited in the portal.

I know no one thinks it’s an issue but they really need to leave for these away games back East on Thursdays. Even if they leave at 6 am, by the time they get to their hotel room it’s probably 1pm. I am done watching the 2024 USC football team. Riley hasn't learned from his past mistakes which is evidenced by the product HIS team puts on the field. Miller Moss is not him. Stats mean nothing. The only stat that matters is the wins & losses. The 2024 recruiting class will once again be subpar.

As an Oregon ducks fan and a USC fan in the 1970s and '80s I am really disappointed and how USC selects coaches. They go for the star power like Lincoln Riley. This is Riley's third season and by now it's completely his team. His coaches. In my opinion he's done a terrible job in both selecting coaches and players. Although I'm an Oregon duck fan living near Eugene, I want to see USC be a great team like it was in the past. The problem is not the players, it is the head coach. Either bite the bullet now or continue down this path and end up in the same place years later. Start finding a really good Dan Lanning type coach. We love Dan. He's a terrific coach, and a terrific person. And he really selects his coaching staff with care. The coaching staff is outstanding.

Not defending CLR…but I saw a few things our players did and didn’t do that just left me scratching my head…blocking a defensive tackle directly into the hole the RB was headed for…ignoring an edge rusher who blows up a Moss pass attempt…not winning any 50/50 throws…often times MD receivers running wide open, just like the PSU tight end last week…etc etc…I’m so disgusted and disappointed…

Its Riley and that b.s. passing league scheme he runs. Ive been saying this on this channel for 2 years. Its a h.s. scheme and Riley is a fraud. Ive known this since day 1 and i wanted coach O back. I have SC in my heart so i went along. Riley did what i expected the first year he is great when other people shop for the groceries. I wanted him fired after the Tulane loss in the bowl game. Yes that was crazy, but looking back anyone who still thinks Riley is good enough to coach USC is insane. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is not only insanity its futile. Nothing changes without leadership changing, Riley is stubborn and has shown us with keeping Grinch a year too long he is not willing to change, unless forced. I remember coach Saban changing his whole offensive style just because Bama lost 2 games. Fire Riley now elevate Lynn or Entz and maybe we can save some recruits. If not we will lose even more recruits.

Not in shape. Not finishing games. Mid tier B1G teams are in much better shape and play 60 full minutes. You have to finish. USC showboats and shimmes after every play. Maryland is always dangerous at home. Even Ohio State knows that.

I wondered too as well, Mark, but after a little research, could it be the loss of key defensive players beginning with Bear Alexander, Anthony Lucas(Minnesota injury), Eric Gentry(last game Wisconsin, 4 tackles) be the demise of USC? If these three players are there, I believe they are undefeated. Credit Lincoln Riley for trying to make up for these losses and not making injuries and discontent on the defense an excuse. I don't know what happened between Alexander and the coaching staff, but it seems to have had a trickle down effect on the rest of the defense. Could this be the root of the problem? Team concept must come first, per the school, but NIL has created a play-me-or-else environment that is counterproductive to the school's system of success. Riley has alluded to this before. Any suggestions on how to solve this conundrum?
