We’ve seen this organization try the veteran tackle thing before, ( Hermon bushrod, Jason peters) isn’t it time to start building a foundation up front instead of just buying other teams lineman? Draft is the only way Adam. This team still needs a center as well.. all that said, Trey smith wouldn’t be horrible being he’s younger and essentially would be a similar contract you’d be paying Tevin Jenkins if he could stay healthy. I’m very pleased if he does. I also suspect Flus loses when gambling run or pass, now more often than earlier in the season. Not having an effective enough Dline and questionable tackling skills throughout his D, has contributed to injuries to Brisker and Kyler Gordon. J.Johnson threw one of the best tackles of the season on Sunday. That’s a lot of compensation the DB’s are required to do for poor Oline judgment in earlier high-ish draft picks (also reflected in the need to double dip for Dline in the 2025draft). There are Poles/Flus land minds that are going off all over the place every game caused by earlier draft choices and mediocre coaching.

He is a developmental DE. Tons of potential but it wasn't realistic to expect him to impact 2024. He needs to add 15 pounds and continue to work on his hand technique, but definitely HUGE potential there

Do you think the Bears will do offensive line in free agency or would they try and find a linebacker and safety in free agency for next year? Whichever way they pick will tip the hand as to how they're going to draft. I agree. And safety is a must, but we all know that o-line needs to stop being a patchwork quilt. Get a good core together that can learn and develop to play together. Love the content as always. Bear down!

Great info on these players. However all draft picks, trades and free agents next year MUST be focused on offensive line until you have one of the best in NFL. Caleb cannot be expected to survive another year physically and mentally with the horrible o line we have now. All other needs, except for defensive end, will have to wait.

Why is it that every year we complain about this offensive line and the first selection is a DE! Make it make sense because I'm confused! Braxton Jones is a no, Coleman Shelton is a no, Outside of Teven Jenkins and Darnell Wright that entire line needs to be replaced via draft not free agents! Our defense is good you can find decent defensive lineman and DEs later!

Because of value of position. Other than Tackle, offensive linemen don't typically go in the first round. Your hit D Linemen need to come from the first round. Our pass rush is the reason we lost to the Packers. Our run defense has been terrible

We didn't lose because of the lack of a pass rush. We lost because although the offensive scheme was better Caleb simply couldn't look down the field comfortably beyond 3 seconds and we couldn't run the ball as effectively as we would like. We want to be able to have a pro-bowl caliber offensive line so we can dictate how we want to play not the other way around. Sure, you take what the defense gives you but you also need to be able to establish we're going to do this thing and you can't stop it. Right now we don't have an offensive line that is good at anything. Guarantee you after watching this tape from this past week I would simply press the WRs and make CW hold onto the ball or make him throw the ball into press coverage where no one is open. Last weeks game plan is not sustainable, we saw that on the final drive last week he got sacked the first two plays of the last drive and had to make some miracle plays just for us to be in the position to kick a potential field goal. Oh and of course we lost because we got a coach scared to fail who needs to be gone along with the GM who can't pick an O-line to save his life even though he was an offensive lineman himself, both are clueless (so many coaching and front office mistakes, personnel mistakes). We can not go into every year complaining about the line and not draft players to make us better on the line that's insane, because that's what we have done for the past 15 years and it hasn't worked!
