This week we used the pressure canner to make some delicious ready to eat meals, dehydrated potato slices, canned blueberries, and made honey fermented garlic. I absolutely love seeing your kids doing these projects. I wish I had started that young. I pray more parents teach and encourage their children to preserve food at home, like you all do.

Hi Kristy and sweet family! Good job, the whole family learning so many good and useful skills. I like soaking my dehydrated vegetables in a bowl of water overnight in the refrigerator and then I use them in my recipes and it saves my propane too. I learned this "honey garlic""concoctions from "Old Alabama Gardener" I never hav e had a cold since doing this. I used to get winter colds. Not since start this back in 2020. I now ever do jars for my Children's and their families. That Blueberry syrup 😋 Can't wait to try. Thank y'all for sharing. 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

We have had great luck with the honey fermented garlic keeping colds at bay as well! I will always have some in my pantry!

Hey Kristy 😊 Years ago I fermented garlic in honey. But upon eating the fermented garlic I had an allergic reaction in my mouth. My lips were swollen and red. It scared me sooooo much. I immediately took an OTC allergy pill. Tried it again a few weeks later, and the same thing happened.😳😑 What am I doing wrong? I eat fresh or cooked garlic frequently. I have had local honey in things like cornbread and such. What am I missing????

That sounds awful! I’m so sorry! I wonder if there is something in the fermenting process that’s causing that reaction. Whatever it is I would absolutely listen to your body and stay away. It’s definitely not worth having an allergic reaction for!
