It's a shame for that governor taking a crap because the generator sounded good. I just cleaned my carb on my Honda 2000 watt generator. It was dirt in that black plastic jet that you push in by hand. It runs great now. People below commented that they wish you would have fixed the governor, so do I. Thank you for the videos.

Just writing to say "Thanks". I've been a science nerd since a kid (50 years ago now) and always understood the "principles" of engines and similar and had general practical knowledge.... I could replace air filters, spark plugs, do an oil change etc. But was never a "motorhead". You make his entertaining enough to hold my interest and explain the smaller details of the "mysteries" of engines clearly enough to make clear what's really happening. You nearly make me want to grap a mower or weed-whacker from the piles on trash days and see if I can get them going, just for fun. Again thanks.

Please keep up the detailed descriptions.. You are definitely helping me understand Small Engines way better and carburetors way better. I have been mechanicing on the side for 30 years and always feared carburetors are messing with him or touching him doing anything with him. In the last 2 weeks you give me a complete confidence on how to take one apart and clean it I'm excited I got an old engine that was on a tiller that a guy made it's a 10 horsepower generator engine that I got running several years ago. But it's been sitting outside with a tarp covered up. I'm going to try and bolt it to the bench here in the next month or two and get it going. Thank you for the detailed understanding on how carburetor works and the idle circuits and Etc. I've never understood how that worked until now.

I watched a couple of these videos and cleaned a carb on the almost same model gen they were throwing out at work. I had to buy a new fuel tank off ebay as the old was so full of rust I didn't want to try and deal with that. Now I am just waiting for the power to go out in a storm. But now that I have a working gen I can rest assured power will remain on.

I got a better one, I was looking for a rear tine tiller a couple of years ago, and guy at our church told me he had one that I could have if I could get it running. He said it needed a spark plug in it I went over to get it, it was sitting under a tree, looked like it hadn't moved in years. I started looking it over and saw it did truly need a spark plug, it didn't have one in it at all. Been sitting there no telling how long with an open plug hole. I took it home not having much hope. After draining all the water and oil out of it, low and behold I did get it running again. I was eager to try it out I cranked it pointed it towards the garden, then found outsomething else. When you pull in on the drive handles. You better be wearing a pair of roller skates or something.that thing took off and almost jearked me down. So if someone says it needs something, they may be talking quite literally. Buyer beware.

It's amazing what a throwaway society we live in, people spend money on these things and don't have enough energy or motivation to to do some basic maintenance, then just toss them away when the carb gets plugged. I'm sure they sit around some coffee shop telling anyone who will listen that those Chinese generators are just total crap. The ironic thing is that most of these people buy the generator for emergency power in case of weather, war or zombie apocalypse, but would never get the thing running if needed.

I picked up a similar generator about 10 years back - that looks identical (except for the paint job). The original tank rusted pretty quickly - so I was able to order a new tank - then the carb float needle wouldn't seat - even after a good cleaning. Mustie, You arent guessing at all.Everything you described is exactly what is actually occurring when the idle circuit is clogged at the idle jet. I have 45 years experience with Lawn and Garden style engines. BTW, the main jet (tube with small holes) is also commonly called the "Emulsion Tube". On any small engine float adjustment, if the float sits high in its inverted position, the only proper repair is to change the float pin seat. (small rubber seal). It has become swollen from the ethanol in most gasoline found today. RUN ALL YOUR SMALL ENGINES ON COLEMAN STOVE FUEL. ITS NAPTHA AND HAS A 5 YEAR OR MORE SHELF LIFE. NO ETHANOL AND TREMENDOUS SHELF LIFE, PERFECT FOR EMERGENCY GENERATORS.

2 months ago a guy wanted me to figure out why his generator wasn't running. I told him it was most likely the carburetor, so he bought a new one and then called me saying it was still running rough. I pulled the air cleaner box off and noticed the front carburetor gasket was blocking a hole on the carburetor. Sure enough he mixed the gaskets up and after I swapped them around it ran great.
