This is another installment in the famous ad series by Anouk the ethnic wear brand from Myntra. Starring Shaheen (Radhika Apte), dressed in a stunning blue jacket, who is received by her boss Uma (Shernaaz Patel). She compliments Shaheen for her work but Shaheen doesn't seem happy. Meanwhile, Uma compliments Shaheen for her stunning blue long jacket and says its covering her baby bump nicely to which Shaheen gets disturbed. A few moments later, Shaheen rakes up the issue of her 'bump' and how it has become the cause of her losing her assignments and promotions to another colleague at work, despite having worked nights on the project. Uma blames it as a management decision and excuses herself for not informing Shaheen earlier. They debate on the issue how pregnancy makes one being unable to deliver their best performance. Uma tells Shaheen to take a break for her baby and come back next year. When the destination arrives, Shaheen says that she already knew the management decision and that's why she is starting her own business now. Uma tells Shaheen that she is the best person they have, to which Shaheen replied, “had”.
Just like the thought in this ad, the collection of maternity dresses on Anouk is beautiful. I am facing the similar situation at work..All my assignments given to someone else.. Before my boss knew about my pregnancy she gave new assignments, good increment and promotion too.. Just a month later when I informed about my pregnancy, in a matter of few days my assignments were taken and given to someone else..I was even asked to leave and rejoin after pregnancy..She(my boss) did this verbally...I didn't leave..it's my sixth month..

Women do need time to heal, not because its just their responsibilty to raise the kids, but because they have undergone physically tough phase. There is absolutely nothing wrong in wanting to take a break or take it slow after pregnancy and childbirth. Just like being pregnant is not a handicap, taking a break to give time for baby and for your body to heal is also not a handicap. One thing I agree about the video though, it should be the mom's decision !

I totally agree. Ads makers seem to forget what a hands on responsibility being a new mom is. The already sleepless nights. For some women the breasts hurt, the colicky babies, you're still bleeding. Hormonal changes. On top of that they want to work? I support that pregnancy should not be taken as a handicap. But one must also know when to take a break and let yourself go. I mean work is really not the only identity for her. All these new feminists, makes ng life hard for the rest of us by unnecessarily competing with men.

@@nikithageorge441 that's the worst thing you can say as a woman (if you are). Nobody is saying she should not prioritise her work. If she is an ambitious women, she must aim for the stars. However the expectation of the company that women's quality of work must not affect even after a baby is inhumane. It will be affected. And companies must be okay with it. Basically I am supporting working women by not having to work extra extra hard. Only because she had a child. That's wrong. Companies make it look like every woman can work even after a baby. No. Not all women can do that. A woman's health is equally important as much as her professional success. Both companies and woman have to realise that to make change happen.

Extraordinary content!!! I think this is something out of box... Life is full of choices and challanges and there are people who can handle both in a beautiful manner... beyond that women are born multitaskers and they know to handle things right from their childhood... Motherhood is not something different... she was a mother to her siblings, her husband and to her parents thus it's not something new for her... if she's confident enough to manage both then she mean it... it's her choice and her life...Biggg applause to the script writer...keep up the good work

why do so many men get so panic stricken whenever women talk about equal rights? In no way I am commenting on this video, but just the mindset of some guys (and not all). Below every video/pic/quotes speaking about equal rights of women or the gender discrimination, there would be guys bashing these concepts. There are numerous jokes making fun of girls' intellect, practical life skills, etc. I wonder whether such guys don't love the women in their lives? For example, I always get upset whenever I hear any news of men accused of false charges by women, etc because I know it may affect the men in my life as well directly or indirectly some day. Don't the guys think like that? Or are they just being too selfish?
@sg-qr7rd
@sg-qr7rd 8 жыл бұрын
+Adya jha Let me try to give an 'insider's perspective'. Note that these views aren't my own. "why do so many men get so panic stricken whenever women talk about equal rights?" Simple, because they would have to cede ground and give up privilege. It's similar to all other inequalities. "I wonder whether such guys don't love the women in their lives?" They do. The problem isn't that they don't love them. The problem is that they want to infantilize them. This is so deep rooted in the male psyche that most of them don't even realize that. Now doesn't that make it obvious why so many get scare shitless of seeing women doing as good as them or even better than them. They have internalized the social conditioning that they are supposed to be more capable than women, in the arena of hard skills, with no exceptions. So any exception to this rule gets registered as an affront to their own status and capabilities. I remember a teacher in my coaching class in Kota called AG. Brilliant guy. But what he used to do in the class was - when a male student couldn't solve a Physics problem he made him copy the solution from a girl who had solved the same problem. In his sexist notion of seeing things, girls were inherently inferior than boys when it came to Physics. He had stated it blatantly in the class. And it went unprotested, even from the girls. It's a mess.

+Adya jha I have a problem with modern feminism. They talk of gender equality but project sexual offense and rape as something that is only commited by males. Almost all feminists project men as emotionless sexual predators and women as the victims. Please read your second sentence. "Equal rights of women" why not equal rights for all genders. They talk of equality and then go on to say that only women face problems of gender discrimination. Im happy to hear that you get upset when you hear news of men getting falsely accused of rape. Did you ever see a news article showing a woman getting accused of rape. Probably not. Thats because the feminist propaganda has successfully made people believe that men are bad and that modern society is completely controlled by men. And to answer your question, no, guys aren't being selfish. They too want gender equality. But feminism is not for gender equality.

Feminists aren't actually saying that. A majority of feminists only care about women's issues and actively state that men alone are the reason of those issues. And that is man-hating. They assume that rape is something that a male does to a female. And thats bullshit.

I'm an architect myself. It's a part of my job to visit sites which have rough terrain and harsh climate. I would definitely not want to keep doing the same in my last few weeks of pregnancy and a couple months postpartum. I don't see anything wrong in taking it a little slow or giving this responsibility to someone else for a while if it's going to affect my work. What I don't like here is just the attitude of the senior lady about pregnancy.. asking to hide a bump. Other than that it's fine

I really appreciate the content. Women should not be discriminated in there workplace just because she is pregnant. But I have a concern... The video made me feel like it is putting a standard that pregnant women should work hard and choosing to take some time off to take care of herself and her baby is like a weakness, but in reality most pregnant women will want to slowdown a bit by their 3rd trimester and take some time off after delivery to heal her body that went through so much. I am currently pregnant and I am doing my masters thesis but it is not easy. And there is nothing wrong if women like me chose to take a break.

When will she cook or clean or wash or play and do office work! I keep saying again and again. It's ok to choose one and it should be accpeted by the society.

what this video is trying to mean is that how can a promotion be stopped for a woman or entire project be given to some one else when the woman has worked on it right from the start? she should be given appropriate reqards/promotion based on that on not becos she is pregnant. I had a collegue of mine qho had worked on a project for 3 years and when it was her time of promotion she was delivering a baby and had to take maternity leave of 8 months or so..so they stopped her promotion? how is that fair? she has worked on it for the past 3 years and just bcz she is delivering a baby how can she be deprived of her promotion?

Let's be real vijay. No some women cannot juggle both. Delivery and later months of pregnancy are very physically daunting for a woman. She need not balance both. People should understand this. So should companies. They didn't drop from the sky. Their mothers birthed them. By saying you can do both, you are increasing expectations of a woman who is already tired just by taking care of the baby. And in the course those women who chose only one are made a mockery of or left behind. Women do t have to do both and it should be acceptable.
@vijayk1167

@@lakshmikrithika2521 Hey, try to understand what I meant in my comment. I am not saying all women are doing or have to do. That's not what I am saying here. And neither increasing expectations of women. It all depends upon individual decisions. What I am trying to say is, women are not less than men and that's what is important. You are commenting on me as such I am making statement women should work on both the front. Being a woman you can easily understand what problems women face during pregnancy. So it's an individual choice whether to continue work or not. Her any decision is welcome in any situation.

Just cause a woman is pregnant, new mum or has young kids, she is often judged as being inefficient at work. The 3 or 6 or 8 months or one year break is more for the baby than for the mum. And it's the mum's choice to take how much ever she wants. Holding back a promotion, judging her capabilities after being pregnant or a mum is highly inconsiderate of any management. The first half is the life of most pregnant women and new mums in India. This has nothing to do with equality with men, so men please don't flatter yourself too much.

Someone will say it reality that long work hour exist ,then why not create the documentary about long work hours, long travel time to work. And the most annoying question during the interview when they ask is and to make it worse this question was asked to me by a lady who was taking my techno-managerial round. "are you married or are you having kids"

This ad is confusing. So is maternity leave a bad thing? Should projects be assigned when a woman has just delivered a baby? Arent we supposed to be more sensitive to the needs of a pregnant woman? Isnt this what everyone has been fighting for - not treat pregnancy as a business loss? [Not being open with employees and not giving deserving promotions is more due to a shitty company culture than gender discrimination]. Also, is she going to start a new venture when she has a 1 month old child? What about her health, also what about the child? Isnt this making motherhood insignificant? Shouldn't we be aiming for more flexibility? This seems intent on grabbing eyeballs by latching onto controversial topics, like most other mytra ads. It supports feminism on the surface but quite not rational if you probe a bit further

Women can actually work effective for more than half of their pregnancy. They can handle mild stress and moderate movement. With precautions and a safe environment everything can be done. The only problem arises during the last few months because of the big belly, but women can still work taking precautions and being health conscious. I understand some people want good for the mom and baby, but depriving a person from something they are passionate about will give them unnecessary negativeness rather than relieving them.

I don't quite agree here coz it's not menstruation which is compulsory but pregnancy which is completely by one's choice. And it would be very ridiculous of a corporate to expect a pregnant women or a man whose wife is pregnant to work bcoz that's what humanity says. As mentioned, pregnancy is a choice, a couple must be allowed to have 6 months leave for once in a lifetime in name of having a child.
