#UPDATE: When the oven needs a descale, a "descale" button lights up on the LED Panel, and after adding your descaling solution into the water tank, clicking on it results it an automatic descaling cycle, which is very neat!

My GE microwave from 2005 finally crapped out. At first kzbin.infoUgkxO_Bc204MGjxDl87cOKcdgaRhzSqGmv_g I was unsure because I was looking for something with the exact same features. Found it with this one. Interior space cavity was large, but the outside was smaller than my old one. I love the one-button push for 1-6 minutes, and the 30 second add or 30 second start. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I love how you can adjust the power level during cooking. The reviews said it could not be done, but this marked all the other boxes. and happy to say, it does. I can hit 1 minute start, and change the power level from 10 to 5, 30 seconds in, without interruption. my favorite feature!

Great review by someone who understands how it works. Ever since I got mine I rarely use my (actually rather good) built-in oven as the precise temp and rapid heat-up is just superior for nearly every cook. The only negative reviews I've seen are from people who expect the oven to do everything automatically, but that ISN'T why I wanted this oven - I wanted control of everything and this is exactly what you get. Also, people in the USA are less happy with the heat-up and recovery time because they don't use real electricity (110-120volts ;) )

Do you have more cooking videos for the Anova steam oven?

Good review. I want one but setting which heating element combinations you use from the app is a no go for me. Bad design IMO. You should just be able to click which ones you want on the control panel. For example, the back element and the top and bottom all on.

I jus unbox the oven then I found ur video. Thank you for the review. I’m not a cook and first time owning an oven…. Am I in trouble now since it’s not a so smart oven for a non cooking person. 😅 Do I need to use any particular utensil for this oven or those I used to use in the microwave can do ?? Help …!

Great review. The minor issues that you pointed out such as setting temperature and anova app is an important part of deciding whether to get it or not.

Thanks for the video. I have been debating on purchasing this oven since its release but have not taken the plunge yet. As a fellow Malaysian, I appreciate the humidity reference. I live in abroad now so maybe I could benefit from the humidity setting more than if I were back in KL. Thanks again!

Thanks for the awesome review. Just have one simple question. I have an oven named UNOX XFT-135 and use it for baking cakes. What I like about the oven is that it doesn't have any heating wire revealed inside it and the heat it produces is only coming out of the convection fan. This helps the surface of cakes not to be overcooked before the inside is cooked well. So I am curious if Anova Precision Oven has a feature that I can turn off the heating wires at the top and bottom and let the hot air come out of the fan only. Again, thank you for this review.

Hi Leonard. Thank you for the review. Is the temperature on the outside very hot or is well insulated?
@LeonardYTVern2 жыл бұрын
It's well insulated (at least for my model), I don't feel crazy heat when cracking the hot box to max temp when next to it when closed, but when you open you feel the massive heat within the hotbox

Great review here! Have been using other Anova products and am thinking of getting the APO too. I live in Singapore, and was wondering if there’s any concerns regarding the warranty? (Seems pretty limited outside US and Canada) Thanks in advance!

Carosell listing sg show up a lot of semi broke annova ovens - basically annova seems to be sending out a new oven if one comes defective . But the defect rate feels high to me . I am also on the fence .

I have a new in the box Anova precision oven for sale I returned the first one for a bad fan bearing but have decided that the features of the oven don't match my needs. I have it listed on the Stillwater Oklahoma craigslist. I won't include a link here. If you search Anova both of my ads should show up.

Hi Leonard, thanks for your insight. I am actually contemplating to get one, but am concern like what you have shared that the app is cluttered, not as clean and easy to navigate as the sous vide precision cooker. Hence does it mean that there isn't enuf of users posting their "experiments" on the app to give sufficient "tried & tested" recipes for the community to share? How does one transition from the sous vide mode to the roasting mode? Hmmm, alot to consider.
@LeonardYTVern2 жыл бұрын
Frankly, you shouldn't make a decision based on the app. The app's recipes are limited mainly due to lack of community discussion I feel. But the key functions still comes down to precision cooking and if you would use it to that extend. If you're looking for presets and easy cooking, this probably isn't the oven for you. On that note though, the app function for stage cooking works pretty decent. Hope this helps

Great review, thank you! How would you say this oven fared for: medium-grain rice, steamed fish, and ribeye steak?
@LeonardYTVern2 жыл бұрын
in the 100% humidity function, assume there is no water loss in cooking rice as you would in a standard pot; so metrically speaking (grams) 1:1 for most rice except wholegrain. Steamed fish works great if you use sous vide; treating it like a steam oven, i still have mixed results and feelings as the steam is not constant/consistent throughout the cook. Ribeye sous vide, great Broiler to form crust, not too bad although i would still prefer a cast iron pan over high heat

Hey I am considering getting one of these for sourdough baking primarily as any other stream oven in aus are 2-3000+ So my question is does it cover the steam/moisture levels good for the oven spring just wanting to make it easier then my current work around of spray water into dish when I put the loaf in to cook
@LeonardYTVern2 жыл бұрын
Short answer: yes it does However, I would still spray the bread as it enters for a compensatory effect when you open the oven door.
