On one visit, when Schubert called with Anselm Hüttenbrenner, Beethoven remarked, "You, Anselm have my mind, but Franz (schubert) has my soul."

I lived in the house where Hüttenbrenner died. He is not known very well in Austria. Even in Graz where he came from (and a street in my neighborhood is called Hüttenbrennergasse) most people never heard his music. I only know this composer because on the house there is a small marble plate to remember him.

Hi! With the slim chance of you reading this: Can you tell me where the house is?
@erikschaffer2038 Жыл бұрын
Rotmoosweg 2, 8045 Graz Pink house at the Andritz creek. It was rebuilt in the 90ies, does not look like a historic place at all. Don't waste your time for a visit. I only know about this, because there is some unremarkable memorial stone in the wall. I didn't even know it was an old house, when I lived there. @@JwieJassii

Thank you so much! I'd still want to have a look at it when I'm finally visiting Graz, I'm a lineal descendant of Hüttenbrenners :)@@erikschaffer2038

Oh, I see. Then you can take a short walk on the little alley called "Am Hüttenbrenneranger" which is close to the house. But there is really more interesting stuff to visit in Graz. :-) @@JwieJassii

A very bright and picturesque sonata. It has a quality of its own and influenced by Beethoven and Schubert. Sadly a virtually unknown composer.

Sounds a lot like Schubert. I guess this composer was a friend of Schubert. Very pleasant sonata, and I would like to hear more by this composer.

You might be right. I was rereading about Beethoven's final moments and (thought I had) discovered this guy's name tonight. A KZbin search had this peace as its first selection, and I was surprised to find a red line under it. I rechecked my history, and apparently I actually listened to this 3 years ago. I have no memory of this, the composer, or the composition.

Unjustly neglected composer....

It sounds like a study composition. Uninspired and forgettable.
