@@pandahtoemateo3321 True, tv shows are a product of their time, and Glee was very cool because through all the jokes and exagerated drama, the representation of diversity that at the time was just begining to be accepted in mainstream was outstanding. I may have outgrown Glee by its 5th season, but I really learned a lot from the series. Now I do wish to watch asexuality being represented in mainstream series, and not only that, but the spectrum of aromaticism too. @@alondraa.3522 again, i completely agree that kurt was groundbreaking representation. it was revolutionary to have a gay character play a significant role in a mainstream tv show. however, in terms of quality, kurt falls far short of his successors. the problem isn’t that he fits a stereotype, it’s that his character lacks much nuance outside of this. there isn’t much to say about his character outside of his gayness. he also feeds into more definitively negative gay tropes, namely his pursuit of finn in season 1 perpetuating the idea that gay men are predators out to seduce straight men, and his persistent role as “gay best friend”. once again, i do not mean to undermine the significance of his representation. glee really made great strides in terms of representing queer people on screen. perhaps the original commenter was referring to his impact rather than the character himself. i just thought it necessary to point out that kurt doesn’t really serve as a good representative of real queer people, and that there are many better examples of well written, nuanced queer characters in more recent works. though, i think it’s fair to say, they might not have existed without kurt’s influence.

@@ellieragsdale4398 i didn't intend to undermine the significance of his character in the landscape of queer representation, nor his personal significance to the viewers. he was one of the first openly gay "lead" characters I ever saw in tv and i know this is true for many people. i just think it is misleading to characterize him as "one of the best representations of the lgbt community " as there are many more nuanced and accurate examples of queer characters in modern media, no small part in thanks to the groundwork glee laid. he is certainly a very important and beloved queer character, but saying he is genuinely one of the best examples of representation is a stretch.

Thank you Lady Gaga for such a spectacular song for all kids in high school! Kids have to go through so much these days and it is songs such as this that give them HOPE that things will get better! I still play this song in my high school classroom today in 2023 when the kids get bummed about things. I put on KZbin and we have "Glee Time." The kids STILL love it and dance all over my classroom. Brings tears to my eyes!
