He's got great screen presence. I watched him as Black Bolt in the 1-season show Inhumans a few years back. His character didn't have any dialogue (nature of the character), and IMO show wasn't that great. But I do think he acted the heck out of it! Made me look forward to him as Captain Pike. Have been loving it.

With a name like “Anson”, it totally tracks that his mom would introduce him to “Star Trek”. Literally carries the name of one of the genre’s grandmasters, and it shows! My 8yo son and I have waited for each SNW episode to drop since “Children of the Comet” was in the queue on “haircut day” (where Mom cuts his hair while he watches TV). Mom is not a “Star Trek” fan, but even after the haircut and cleanup, she said “Ok, we’re invested in the story, we need to finish this one.” THANK YOU from a lifelong fan who grew up on TNG, and whose longest summer in memory started at my son’s age with the words “Mr. Worf… FIRE” for bringing back the ethos of TOS such that I can share the series with my 8yo. Though the violence in the TV-14 episodes is hard to stomach, we skip the scenes that gave them that rating and still watch the episode because they are so well done! We’ll be elated to make this a five-year mission because this series is so well-done, top-to-bottom!

So there's long been a debate over which Captain is "best", and obviously it's a pretty silly debate because there's no definition for "best" and it really is about who's your personal favorite. But I've always been intrigued by the question of "who would you want to serve under?". For me it's hands down Captain Pike. I love Kirk but I'd be worried he'd get me killed and Picard can be a bit aloof even for his senior staff. Sisko is great, but between administrating the station, being a battle commander and lets not forget a religious figure it would be intimidating to talk with him (afraid to waste his time).

Anson Mount is so handsome. I wish I had his hair and that jaw. He has that same sort of reserved manner that Jeffery Hunter had so as far as I am concerned Anson was the only person who could step into Captain Pike. Its no accident that Anson Mount stepped onto the feminist estrogen soup of Star Trek Disovery and they rating popped so much they cancelled Discovery and gave Anson Mount his own show.
