When Jonathan talks about the magic of Kirk, Spock and Bones had and how they were looking for that, my immediate reaction was how TNG had that, but it was a larger group. You can't pick just 3 of the TNG cast. It's the whole group, together, that creates the magic.

@@markadolph8715 to be fair, the studio didn't exactly set up Star Trek 5 for success. Shatner was plagued with constant studio interference and meddling and also dealt with crippling budget cuts (which forced him to make dramatic changes to the script) all while filming. What's funny is when Takei heard Shatner was going to direct 5 he refused to be in it. Shatner had to convince him. Ironically, Takei said that Star Trek 5 was actually enjoyable to make largely thanks to Shatner who made the most of a bad situation, always keeping things light and fun on set even though it was clear the studio was hanging him out to dry.

Maybe it influenced his decision to not follow the show while filming?

Fantastic interview! Indeed the TNG cast have now taken over the Star Trek eminise grise role from the TOS cast

I’d love to see more 25th Century Trek. Not sure where this season ends up but hopefully there is a ship & crew we can follow.

Until Picard Season 3, Kurtzman Trek felt like something made by people who didn't get or like what Star Trek was. This feels like a return to form, and I'm loving it, but the only path forward for Trek is to maintain this level of care and quality. It will take repeated solid seasons to bring some of the lifelong fans who split back, because so far this wonderful season is a data point, not a pattern

Great crew and cast. So far, Picard S3 is great! But we seriously need a DS9 reunion show

So, the Delta Flyers podcast is going through episodes of Deep Space Nine and reviewing them, with Armin Shimerman and Terry Farrell. I'd recommend checking that out.

Seeing Riker and Troi was amazing but gets better everytime an old cast member shows up. Very glad they are doing a great job with season 3 so far, kudos.
