Em is one of the greatest lyricists of all time. He is a student of the craft with an almost religious regard for the art form. I’m sure he was intrigued and impressed with what he heard on recordings of Kendrick. Being that he was brought to mainstream audiences by Dre when he signed him to Aftermath I’m sure he was impressed and intrigued by whatever he heard from Kendrick’s recordings. However similar to Dre when he heard Em rhyme over 25 years ago he felt he needed to observe someone this skilled for himself. He could leave no doubt that this was one man’s work, and out of sheer curiosity probably wanted to see his writing process. This speaks to the level of Kendrick’s ability and to Em’s sacrosanct view of the art of lyricism. Clearly he was impressed and this probably helped set things in motion for Dre to produce good kid, M. A. A. D. City.

This is why i say these men embody hip hop. The relief they both must have felt in that moment, Em recognizing Kendrick's skill and passion was real, while Kendrick gets to see how one of the greatest lyracists and one of the biggest Hip Hop legends still upholds the integrity of the art form. This moment was pure hip hop and reflects why its more than just a genere of music but a lifestyle.

Eminem has a very strong work ethic. Wakes up early for the studio and puts the hours in. Very hands on. It was not to disrespect Kendrick but rather to get down to business in peace.

In all reality, Em has been around long enough to know certain Rappers use ghost writers. He did do a song with Drake, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Im sure Kendrick wasnt offended. He probably felt honored that one of the greatest lyracists of all time wanted to test him to see if he was completely legit. Also a real lover and student of hip hop would also feel relieved that there are still legends upholding the old ways.

Kendrick was very humble to be the best and get tested . If you want to work with someone , work with them.

True. But in a line of work where it's hard to find someone who actually knows their craft, testing is important. Also, this was years ago. Quite normal. Too many fakes around.

I know a lot people might think Em' was crazy for this. This is one of those situations where I had to learn. Some people in music don't really have beef with each other, they just wanna' see if that person is serious about being in the career that they are in. Cause' some people start off very well, then they start going completely left in their career. But people who are here to kill their careers and be Successful, it's because their Originality and Skills are Strong, Solid, and Smoothly Organized, so they know what's either coming next for them. Or what to expect next. I'm glad Eminem does this. It's not just that he cares, he knows what type of people are real and people who are here to just get by easily.
@notsoberoveranalyzer826410 ай бұрын
It’s probably also related to how Em’ treats studio time. He generally arrives at 9, and leaves at 5. The man is professional. What other job would you want to work with someone who brings 5-15 of his boys in? Imagine, you’re a surgeon, and an anesthesiologist brings in the boyz. An office meeting. Stock market. Lawyers office. Prison guard. Hell, even at 7-11, or a restaurant you’d have the people who are just hanging around, not helping, not know how to help, gtfo,
