How are you affording tuition for online school? Is it worth it to pay 60k or more a year for graduate school?
@PediatricSpeechPals Жыл бұрын
It’s two years long! And I’m paying for it by working as a SLPA! It’s totally worth it!!

What was the internship you had in undergrad?

I worked for a speech and hearing clinic doing odd jobs around the office, assisting, and shadowing! It was great 🙂

Hi! After my 2nd try of applications, and 4 years post-undergrad, I finally got into a grad program :) However, I'm very nervous about everything since I would be moving across the country and in so much debt. I'm finally so close to my goal and dreams, but this life change is very scary. Have you ever heard of students who got into programs that declined their admissions because of finances? What did they do in the meantime? Did they regret that choice? Should I let this opportunity pass me by? Tips for moving across the country by yourself?

Hi! Congratulations for getting in to grad school! That is super exciting!! Yes, finances is definitely a big reason to decline admission. If you haven't already please check out our Financial Aid episode linked below. We go into detail about ways you can get support with your finances. At the end of the day, it is up to you and what you are most comfortable doing. I would try and talk to the school and see what your options are - maybe a payment plan, defer and work for another year, etc. Another episode we did was How to Prepare for SLP Grad school (also linked below) where we talked about tips for when I (Melissa) moved from WA to CA, hopefully these will also apply to your move if you do decide to do accept :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2jSq3qmgsmBf6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGiWeYVnbNNjesU

Melissa, are you from Washington state? I figured you girls were both from California. I'm currently in undergrad - Arizona State's speech and hearing science program online. :) -Shawna

@@PediatricSpeechPals that's so great! I'm about an hour north of Seattle. I will certainly apply to a school or two in California after undergrad and see what happens.

After some research I decided to only apply for one online program. Now I am not so confident I will get in… 😂

Is there really no in state or out state tuition for graduate school???
@caitlynmeza4363 Жыл бұрын
I mean it's not like undergraduate it's just the same across the board.

Best to check with your school specifically, but Melissa’s school was the same price for in-state or out-of-state tuition. 😊
