we were allowed to wear makeup, not during the graduation ceremony but if your family brought some with them or you had some packed away in your bag that they have you lock up, we were allowed to go grab it as well as apply it in the dorms before we left for the day. I guess it just depends on the MTI. they told us we better have it scrubbed off by morning though lol. Some girls left their eyebrows on so that the next day when we had to wear our blues you could have a little something at least. 😂 and we were allowed to wear makeup for our pictures. we had a good 20 minutes. i got a full beat done. minus winged liner of course.

I was allowed to wear makeup and earrings for graduation, and so were the other female flights I graduated with. Most MTI’s will let you. I didn’t bring any but I was able to get some on a run to the store towards the end of training because our MTI approved. You will most likely be able to wear makeup so bring it just in case so you don’t have to buy any there. Different squadrons have different rules. My squadron even allowed us to bring our phones on town pass lol. I just graduated a few months ago so this is fairly up to date too

About the makeup: It may just depend on your MTI but I just left BMT a month ago and we were allowed to wear our makeup for graduation/parade as well as picture day, but never any other time.

3-4 days?!??! for laundry??? oh no. the girls in my flight were on top of it. they would always have a load running. there was too much laundry to have it sit there that long. we also were in disney land though so our washers and dryers were in our dormitory so i guess it was just easier for us to throw a load in and then go do something else.

the girls that were assigned to laundry were very considerate when it came to if someone bled through some pants. they would designate a washer for that item only and then scrub the washer down with some cleaning solution afterwards so it wasn’t a problem for everyone else and hygiene wise. they were the moms and that's how the MTI picked who got the laundry duty

Disneyland dorms rocked. Anyone who is worried about BMT, don't. I recommend going in January or spring. Summer is hot, and Winter is Cold in San Antonio. I went in the summer, and people passed out all the time.

(ANDD coz I was on the AFJROTC unarmed drill team during the 9th grade back in WA, randomly moved to my parents’ home country .. skipped 2.5 yrs of HS/only went to HS for 1.5yrs.. was depressed since i had a few scholarships and opportunities but, I’m doing fine now since I’m almost done with my bachelors degree (BMLS))! Here’s what i wanted to ask about BMT in the Air Force: -Can we bring our daily meds and supplements(like for my skin since I’m prone to allergies with my eczema)? -What’s your opinion on tattoos in BMT? -Sunscreen? (I have very sensitive skin) -I know that there’s no makeup allowed.. but what about lip balm ? Or clear eyebrow gel? -What about for hair?? Like having a lot of baby hairs and flyaways and like a hairy side burns/face?? -food allergies? And what if you don’t eat meat ? -penicillin allergy ? No prescribed skin creams or medications, OTC anything except for birth control are allowed. You can ask to go to the clinic when you get there if it becomes a problem and you can let them know what you have been prescribed in the past and they can give it to you but you are not allowed to bring anything in for the sole purpose of them not wanting to have to check every single pill or tube of medication to make sure it is what you're saying it is.

Everyone has tattoos. It's not a problem as long as it's not visible while you're in uniform. One girl was covered head to toe in them. Obviously don't get one right before you go because then it can be a sanitization issue . But many got them in tech school right after bmt .

Making rank E-1-E-4 is automated. doesn't matter your AFSC. Then as a senior airmen you will have to test for staff saergent (E-5) all the way through E-9

Hello!, so i know i'm not in the Air force yet but personally i am choosing the AF instead of other branches because i'm passionate about the military planes! It's a lot of history and my dad always took me to go watch air meetings! i don't want to be wrong so you might want to check on other websites but i'm pretty much sure that the AF detain athletic clubs! just like the bleachers! and at times you can feel a little homesick, but it's a team, she will never be lonely if she needs to talk there always is an MTI!

@@Evergreenforest33 oh ok, but its very cheap. They charge by the minute. in my area they charge me $1 for 1 minute. It usually takes about 15 minutes to remove all of my hair. so I only have to pay $15. but when you enlist you should definitely try it!

Did you go in with a guaranteed job or aptitude area? I remember during meps we had to see how much we could lift. If our weight was low enough will that prevent us from getting security forces or something like that?

Jolene Flynn i won’t tell you a definite “no,” but when I went to MEPS they had me do the deadlift for strength and security forces was one of the jobs on my list. We went over my jobs after I was done doing everything medical and physical and they told me I didn’t qualify, and I’m assuming that’s because I could only do like 80lbs hahaha but if you practice a bit you should be fine! good luck!

if you have anemia you cannot join the air force. they will not go easy on anyone for any reason. if there’s a medical issue that causes you to not be as fit as everyone else then you probably will not be able to enlist. and you cannot bring any type of medications at all. even tiger balm or icy hot or anything of that sort to help with muscles was not allowed to be brought.

i am currently in the military. there is a long list of medical conditions that are not accepted into the military and anemia that has not been corrected permanently is one that is not allowed. i am not sure exactly the reason why or who said so. 🤷🏽‍♀️ there was a girl in basic that were recycled into my flight at the 3rd week, she was in their 6th week of training almost done and she went to donate blood but was told she couldn’t because of iron levels. she was never diagnosed with anemia never had any symptoms or issues ever in her life. she was put in medical hold for 6 additional weeks almost on the verge of being discharge because of this. but she made it through after having to take iron supplementation. so if you have anemia prior to going in I can only imagine that they will not accept you if they acted like this with someone who had not been diagnosed ever.

If you opt to shower at night, do you have just as much time as in the morning - how did that work? Also, anything prohibiting tinted moisturizers/bb cream?

No makeup bb cream tinted moisturizers nothing. there’s no reason and no time for it really. you’re in basic training. also they tell you when you can shower. there is no opting to take a shower during the day or night. it could be in the morning could be at night. could be in the middle of the day. usually after pt is when you shower though. it can depend on what time of the year you go on when you have pt and therefore when you shower.

Hi! So I’m planning on joining when I hit 18 and I have a few questions. So if you have like a lot of pimples and usually put cover up over it can you not do that since all makeup is locked up? When I’m done with the shower and my hair is all wet what do you do with it since it can get your back and shirt wet? Are we able to bring cell phones with us? And if so when are we able to use them? Hi Elora, I’ve watched your videos for what seems like a while now. I’ve found your videos super helpful and are a great set up for someone who wants to join the Air Force. I had plans to go in before my husband and I found out I was pregnant, but I’ve had to wait since I’ve had my baby. So I was wondering if there are any weight loss tips you might have or someone whose trying to get rid of stubborn weight that it won’t go away. My baby is 4 months old now, so I still have to wait a few more months before I can actually talk to a recruiter or anything, but I wanted to get my weight back down before I went.

When I was in Air Force Basic 83-89 actually Jan 1983 Sunday was the G.I.Party day. For those that didn't serve. A G.I. Party was CLEAN and POLISH the DORM. No it wasn't a party. This is where you learn the many uses of Kiwi neutral wax. It's great for removing shoe scuff marks from the floor prior to waxing and polishing. You work you ass off except for those on laundry duty. They get to clean EVERYONE'S dirty crap. January 1983, 2023rd BMTS Flight 075.

definitely no hair dryer. you will just have to pick and choose when’s the right time to wash your hair. on sundays you have time to let it air out. if you know you’ll be out all day and you shower in the morning and having your hair up and wet is a problem then don’t wash it at that time. you will be uncomfortable some days. it happens

Question: I am interested in working as a Social Worker in the Air Force. my main goal is to commission as an officer. I am debating on which route to take- 1) enlist as soon as I receive my bachelors, use GI Bill to earn masters, then commission as an officer. or 2) earn bachelors & masters (not wanting the student debt tho) then commission as an officer. Another question is- could I commission as an officer with my bachelors then change my MOS once I have my masters?

I have very thick curly/coily hair and I recently chopped it to my shoulders and now I have like blunt curly bangs and an Afro. With my short textured hair, it’s been hard to figure out how to put it in a bun and although it’s short my hair can get very big so leaving it out is not an option. Any tips?

Hello, for the shower are we allowed to bring a shower caddy or how do we carry out stuff from the shower back to the dorm?

our showers were in our dorms. you just grab what you gotta grab and go. there’s not room for a caddy. there shouldn’t be that many products to grab that you can’t just hold it.

Does the 15 min get ready time apply to ALL times (waking up for PT, showering after PT, getting ready for bed in the evening) or only for getting ready for PT?

It all depends on how much time you have left to get to the next thing on your schedule. Sometimes we only had 6.minutes to shower and be out the door. The MTIs díctate how much time you have and it varies everyday . There’s not a consistent amount of time you have to do anything.

Does anyone know if you are allowed to have a balayage, highlights or really 2 colored hair in general? Obviously is would have to be subtle and not like platinum blonde and dark brown😂 But I’ve looked it up and keep getting different answers so if anyone knows it would help a lot!

No issues with having a balayage. some girls even had light tips while i was there and it’s in a bun most of the time so you can’t even see that part of the hair when it’s up. but no it doesn’t have to be flat straight one color. because most people’s hair is not just 1 tone. as long as it’s not split down the middle or anything crazy. as long as it’s a natural look and you’re good to go.

How do you enlist as an officer? I heard that you won’t really do that well unless you do.

you have to have a bachelors degree before you can. you have to take a test similar to the asvab but obviously harder and if you pass you meet with a recruiter the same as if you were coming in as enlisted
