As much as I love the game, I don't like the order in which they set everything up. They start you off picking an island with no knowledge of what's gunna be there, make you place an unmovable city hall, don't tell you that you're gunna have 10 villagers at one point, and don't give you any land controls until after everything is already in place lol

The 5 stars easy root is flowers, furniture, and trees. In that order. Issabelle will never complain no matter how many flowers you add they only increase your rating. Furniture is second. Make vinettes with little things going on here and then. My orchard has a whole work area, my museum has a whole walk up filled with fossils, my villagers all yave decorated yards. Trees are the thing you can have too many of Issabelle will tell you when you've gone overboard. Personally I'm building a giant national park because I can't stand having an empty urban island so there are trees and flowers and nature decor EVERYWHERE.

Important to note: Don't go wild on fully decorating your island. There is an update with new features and buildings coming to ACNH, with the expansion of the museum as well as potentially coffee shops or an additional shop building. You could get to a point where you've decorated every part of your island and have no room for these new features. Similarly, you can use a second profile just for yourself and give yourself a second home. You can decorate this how you wish and you don't have to be stuck with the limit you have in your main player house. You can have a themed extra house and convert it into something else. Maybe you pretend it's an arcade, or a spa, or an indoor garden, add a signboard outside and you've created your own custom building

One correction about guaranteed 3 star by filling up your island. You actually most likely only need 8 villagers, at least 50 fences placed down, 50 outdoor furniture items placed, and 100 flowers outdoors. Then when you go to Isabelle she will say your island is 3 star rating and Slider will come to your island for the first time which is when you unlock terraforming

Flower breeding give you cooler flowers. Idek what they are for yet. Think of things you like, and try to make that kind of area in empty spaces. Be unique! Try new things! Have fun! When I was starting out, I wanted to make a really Japanese inspired island, but after seeing a bunch of beautiful gorgeous 5 star Japanese islands, I ended up wanting to try something new. And after playing around for a bit, realizing that I liked both the look of small humble towns and that I like a lot of the scenery in my home state, I’m now working on a really agricultural island with a lot of open fields and simple pathways, and maybe a few hidden secrets here and there. If I have any advice to give you, it’s this: 1.) try something new, and see how you can make your island home unique 2.) find what you consider beautiful and play around with those concepts. Find compromise between concepts. What do you want out of your island? Do you want lore? Do you want mystery? Do you want a sense of peace and calm? Or do you want adventure and glamour? Ask yourself these things over and over again. 3.) just have fun with it! Play around. Experiment. This game is supposed to be fun, so make sure you don’t take the fun out of it by fretting over whether or not you’re getting something right or wrong. Have fun, let yourself have fun, relax, and the rest will follow. Best of Luck to you!

design tip to OFFSET tree placement. if ur trees are lined up in a perfect row it doesnt look very natural. i like to set one row of trees, each tree 3 blocks away from each other. then in the row behind/in front of them, stand on the square directly between the two trees, facing up or down, dig a hole and plant it there. it looks a lot more natural than perfect rows and it the branches dont touch. also ensures fruit a space to fall if u do it with fruit trees

I like the way I have my houses set up, two in the back top level, 3 in the middle and two in front. I tried to make the whole back section more old looking and weathered, and have my two urban residents in the front. I haven’t seen anyone do this, anyway I really like how it turned out!

Just FYI, putting things on benches like you did with your materials counts as things being laid on the floor. I had a bunch of items sitting in my stalls for visitors, but the moment I picked them up (about 12) my island returned to a 5 star island. I had already picked up anything else on the floor. Also I've had 5 stars a few times, but without over crowding...and I doubt terraforming adds to stars. There had been people with flat islands, no cliffs with 5 stars.

Not sure if you know, but when you reach a 5-star island, you can receive the golden water can which can turn black roses to gold roses. I'm taking it real slow, still, at 3 stars, everything upgraded but I'm not pressed, there are still some things I need to do but I'm taking my time. You could just do a couple of the things you said just to get the watering can then revert back to the way you want it.

'create your village from the start, this is the perfect time for that & it'll save you a lot of bells' me, nodding after i finally finished the process of moving 8 villager homes yesterday.

this will probably get buried but i got to 5 stars a week ago, haven't upgraded my nooks cranny to the big one and i've kept a really natural simple look! the most important thing i found that wasn't mentioned in the video was nook stop furniture! if you're just laying out normal furniture it doesn't really do much, but putting out the items you can order/make from the nook stop took me to 5 stars easily!! so order street lamps, phone boxes, the fairground stuff, the lighthouse. isabelle specifically asks for nook stop stuff so it really helps! she also asked me to plant more flowers so i gave every house a flower bed. honestly my flower planning was a mess when i got 5 stars i also made sure every tree was kinda moved into a better position on purpose by me: so i still have loads of trees but none of them are where they were when the island started!

I really wish I knew about villagers placement.. Its going to cost me so much to move them now. I'm planning on moving the museum to the other side of my island. I'm at 2 stars and trying hard to get for 4 lol I have more issues with how to desgn a villagers home.

thanks for the video! What recommendations would you give to someone whose resident services is close and off center to their airport? 😕 this makes it really hard to make a town center like I originally wanted and planned for
