Congratulations and I have nothing but the best of wishes to both in this journey! It's interesting listening to the stories you're sharing and I am looking forward to seeing the wedding soon! I want to share my own experience and view regarding wanting to take a break from your partner. I think it's important not to over-romanticise a relationship or marriage but I also understand it's perfectly normal to do so (and tbh, I really blame the Hollywood movies on this as they have brainwashed women into having unrealistic expectations about relationships. So when they are hit with reality, they often cannot cope with it.). I was the same before but after being married for many years, I have a better understanding of what a partnership is about. Taking a break from each other does not mean you have lost interest or love for your partner. Often, it has nothing to do with your partner at all. It's about you, as an individual (especially if you have an independent personality) who needs your own space for awhile and it's so important not to lose that individual identity once you're married or in a relationship. If this is denied of you because your partner doesn't understand or always thinks it's about them, the relationship is likely to suffer. Otherwise, taking breaks can make a relationship better or stronger because it shows that two person are capable of respecting each other's individualism (without making it about themselves or wanting to constantly own/claim someone) and space. That's call maturity and security. The caveat is of course, wanting a break and space does not include you breaking your partner's trust by betraying them. If I have a daughter, I would tell her to marry someone who will always respect her as an individual, someone who will allow her to speak her mind and have her space.
