I decided to do something a little different for this video and do some ski building. I started doing this a few years ago with a friend and since it's getting to be winter here, I figured I'd bring you along as I built a new monoski for myself.
If you like what I'm doing here and find some value in it, consider supporting my work on Patreon. Patrons get ad-free videos, behind the scenes content, and a deep feeling of satisfaction and well being that come with knowing they're helping me create.

Impressed by the press on a press, maybe there's a way to hold the ring-roller-vise in a vise?

I remember mono skis as a way to break two at a time instead of just one.

I think I already knew you can make everything. And this video just confirms it :) Impressive indeed.

Well, that was certainly something different, and somewhat educational, as someone who comes from the subtropics and now lives in the tropics, snow skiing is a tad foreign to me, although I did take a snow holiday once about 20 years ago. 👍

Well you took the start to a great carving board, put the bindings in the worst stance possible on a snowboard, and ended up looking like something that was in a warren miller vid we saw for the first time, but god damn if that didn’t take my desire for snow sports through the roof. Thanks for the full walk through, as we at least talked about this a couple years ago now.

Monoskis do tend to have that effect on people.

Tried a mono 6 years ago after both skiing since the late 70's and snowboarding since 92. Got on that mono and haven't been back on skis or snowboard since. Was doing 8 days a year before. Since getting the mono, 40 to 60 days a year. Thanks for sharing your fun project!

You are planting your pole on the wrong side. Plant the pole, turn around it. Unless it’s different for monoskiing :). Otherwise, nice form! I enjoy your creativity and seeing new processes. Thank you!

To paraphrase a line from an old Warren Miller film; "The great thing about a monoski is you won't break a leg. You'll break them both."

Hi saw you and the little guy skiing the other day. You seem to be using your outside pole to push yourself into the turn; this creates caos in your upper body, especially as your speed increases. Instead of pushing with your outside pole, try planting with your inside pole; it enables you to consistently point your shoulders in the direction of the turn. Your turns will look and feel more natural once you get the hang of it and your upper body will remain poised. The skis turn themselves if you weight, bend and angle them properly; no poles necessary.

Great video! You might want to consider a second channel as this is completely different from your normal 'marketing direction'. I love your channel/videos, as you come off as just a regular guy figuring things out, but this video you feel more like someone who has done this the magical 10k times to be an expert. Great stuff!

Well, That was a walk on the Wild Slide. I've never learned how to roller skate, and I've never seen snow in it's natural state, so this is something right out of left field for me. Well Done.

Holy crap ….. I had no idea the level of work to make one. How many ski’s have you made over the years? Do you serialize them?
@JeremyMakesThings
@JeremyMakesThings 6 ай бұрын
Including failed builds, we’re probably up around 20 pairs (including 4 monos). We were serializing them, but at some point we lost track of what number we were on.

I haven't been skiing in a long time, I was ok-ish at it. I could NEVER get into snow boarding. Tried and tried. Never worked for me. I could see this working for me. Looks like a lot of fun.

Looks like a nice board! wanna make another 😎. I’ve never pulled a screw out of any of my skis even my snowgunz ski. Maybe I’m lucky i don’t know. I’ve found it hard to transition back to two skis I’ve been on a mono most of the time for the last 6 years or so since I was first introduced. 😂. Outside of ski touring and eventually teaching my kids I ride a mono 😊

really amazing...'twould be hard to make a profit though i bet.... I've never heard of them until this vid...have an early 90s pair of Rosignols, the straight style vs front flare, the exposed metal is rusty/pitted, need a wax bath to survive time.

I wonder if that would be easier than two skies. I’ve been once and struggled but we were skiing on ice pretty much, I kept falling when trying to turn back and forth to control my speed and said screw in and bent the knees and went straight for it, lol. Didn’t fall but was flying and just did one big slide and then failed lol!

Haha. Mono ski. Perfect fit. Have you considered alpine snowboarding bindings or parts from them. You can get intek heels and make step in bindings.
@JeremyMakesThings
@JeremyMakesThings 6 ай бұрын
I’ve looked at them a little bit, it’s basically the same sort of thing as these, only these aren’t adjustable angle wise, since it’s, you know, “zero-zero”. 😆. I might see if I can get the bails and make my own base plates next time.

I’ve got a pair of Catek both step in heels and rigid toe bails. Might need to get snowboard hard boots with the intek heels. I think I have a pair. But Mondo 26.5.
