Great video Tim! Very interesting to hear consumers questions,even answered some of my own questions in the process. Cant wait to see what the tougher wedge option is... kletterlift has a long track record, but technically not a wedge. And these colors have me very curious..please give us some green options! Just got my OTs yesterday. Pretty sure they will be staying. Right heel is pretty painful but only in them a couple hours. Left boot already feels pretty good. I have sent back several pairs of $200-$350 boots this year (Red Wing, Thorogood, Rocky). No comparison with The OTs for $500. Very surprised how flexible the sole and forefront are. The rest feels like it is still a tough break in, but should be way easier than my Nick's. FWIW, Nick's are 8.5D, JKs are 7.5EE

Ive been going back and forth on the price tag on JK boots. Im a carpenter, contractor, and craftsman who builds with my hands. I charge per day for my services what one pair of these boots cost. So, if i was building these boots, theyd be $500+ as well. So, its justified

What do you use to stich the turn down to the sole? A machine? I have a pair of really cheap boots from Walmart that are turn downs and I would resole them because of the fit and the leather is really good. I was told they could not be resoled because of the turn down construction. The vamp can't be replaced like the welt can? Lots of questions to answer before purchasing an expensive boot that I can't try on before purchase, construction, and cost of sole replacement. ???

I have a question. Do you at jk adjust the size of the upper to be proportionate ? Most boots at size twelve and larger look like clown shoes, they just make the lower larger. Im thinking about a pair but, they dont ... there are no retailers in my area. So many times i find a boot that looks good but by the time i find my size they look comical

I used to do some cold weather testing for an auto company up in Yellowknife, NWT and saw temps in the -30 deg F range. I had a pair of normie (i.e., not hand made or MTO) insulated boots with honey Vibram soles (can't remember the brand)... the soles would freeze *solid* in those temps, and it'd sound like I was wearing tap shoes for a few minutes when I came inside. After leaving that job I threw the boots into a closet, and when I pulled them out a few years later the soles were literally crumbling into tiny pieces in my fingers. Totally disintegrated. Is this a common effect of exceeding the low-temp limit on soles?
@jkbootsusa
@jkbootsusa 9 ай бұрын
Honestly all rubber compounds are different, but yes that can happen. The honey Vibram tends to be better in normal to hot temperatures - a lot of Wildland firefighters where honey on the job and love it. It is very soft and not really designed for subfreezing temps which is why it wasn't able to hold together. We have a sole specifically designed for working in a wide range called the whiteX (rated from -20C to +250C) beyond which it's properties start to decline. In general you just want to make sure your sole is designed for the temperature range you need.

I done the sizing according to the printed paper on your site. I have alot of boots and i typically a wear 9-10 (tennis shoe size 10) it varies but all of them are in a D width. Your sizing states my width as an EE. Im afraid they will be to big on me. Can you please explain your width sizing, compared to some other brand? I currently own redwings, ariats, chippewa, dan post and thursday

I'm in the same boat brother. I'm a D width in literally every boot I have. They have me at 2E. I'm a 9D in whites, nicks, and franks. I just put a order in for 9 2E after extensive conversation with the customer service team. We will see when they arrive. I'm a 10 branndcok and 10.5 in sneakers by the way.

Question here can your boots have all eyelet hardware if so is that considered a custom boot? Also you mentioned the firelander and superduty boots are the same boot just have different name so the arch hight the same between the two named boots ?
@jkbootsusa
@jkbootsusa 9 ай бұрын
These are great questions! To receive your boots with only eyelets, you will have to order them as custom boots. The Fire Inlander and the Superduty have the same arch height.

@@jkbootsusa Thank You for your answers and I will have a custom pair made when I get my 1st pair of JK boots back to you all after I worn them. So you all see how they have worn and possible additions that might better them. I know these are amazing boots already by seeing them being built so anyone thinking about getting them I say go for it 100 percent. These will be my first real PNW logger boots with an actual supporting arch and hope it makes a difference in how my feet/ankle wear the boot sole.

Great info for the folks new to the game of honest handmade boots, as always Tim. My first pair I promised you I'd beat on, are finally coming home for you to give some love to. Actually found the melting point of the Red x, on a fire a few weeks ago. 😆 I'll swing them by on the way to a wedding, in about 10 days..... Yes, I'll be wearing my Forefronts in the wedding. 😉

Could I have leather imperfections intentionally visible on the boot? Instead of cutting around a scar or brand, slap that puppy on the upper. I didn't think of this until after I ordered so I didn't put it in the order notes.

I'm over disposable footwear. It'll be 300 or Superduty for me from now on. Another two questions: which tannery do you get your leather from, more than one, or is it something you don't like to say? (I'd guess you buy when you see what they have to offer at a particular time). Also, how does your last shape compare to those Whites & Nicks use?
