I showed my mom the mural you painted in your son's bedroom. My mom is a professional artist, art teacher, and mural painter and said, "Wow, that's amazing" to your murals. She was shocked that you didn't consider yourself an artist. So brush off that insecurity and embrace that title. You indeed are an artist...if you want to be one. :)

16:56 ish ... If memory serves, the problem of the tainted lipsticks wasn't the problem. Jaclyn's response to the problem was the problem. 🤷🏼
@Naughtbt

Other than the initial 1-3 replies, she took ownership and did say there was an issue & refunded everyone. I haven’t even received my product yet because I’m international before I got my refund. Was this her first launch of her own formulation? Yes. Was everyone already on the fence about trusting her bc of past collaboration issues? Also yes. I know from other influencers who’ve talked about their collabs and in general barely do any lab work (& definitely aren’t monitoring them). RBK can you weigh in here? And assuming that it is true and she’s a newbie in manufacturing and doesn’t have a lot of information about what it actually takes to make make up. Be honest with me: would you be more upset if you purchased Jaclyn lipsticks (either the 2% defective or 98% not) her response ORR would you be more upset you bought a product from L’Oreal and they sold it knowing that I had carcinogens (and maybe or maybe not when you get cancer)? I don’t think that she deserved the amount hate that she got. They don’t think anyone in the Beauty industry in terms of cancellation for product should be told to kill themselves over and over and over and over and there are shitty person and they’re a liar when you weren’t there to know all the details to make a claim. By all means feel how you wanna feel, but that is a feeling and not a fact. NO ONE IS CANCELLING L’Oréal for selling products that literally burned people and were sold with KNOWN CARCINOGENIC ingredients. There are many lawsuits about this. (we also aren’t cancelling any of the brands they own.. like Kiehl's, Lancôme, Giorgio Armani, YSL, Maybelline, Essie, Kérastase, IT Cosmetics, Prada Beauty, Biotherm, Shu Uemura, Viktor&Rolf, Maison Martin Margiela, Urban Decay, Redken, Vichy, La Roche-Posay etc) I guess what I’m trying to say is I wish people were more morally consistent when they cancel. And maybe it’s because she is a face to her own brand and people feel like it’s OK and know her, but why do we accept this from other brands that don’t have a face? But why is that OK?

She refunded every consumer, even those who were happy and didn't want refunds, which no company has ever done lol. She went far beyond all legal liability, which should be commended, and is by all those educated in business practices. It shows the unfortunately mentality of some these days where if they choose to hate a person, critical thinking, logical reasoning, intelligence and fairness goes out the window, and they just jump to pick, choose and twist the facts to create their wanted conclusion of "They're bad". Sadly many parents set that example for their own children, failing them, so we are seeing it more in young adults, but when people have no critical thinking skills, and judge all with bias, they lose all credibility across the board. Add that to the poor behavior many present online, such as nasty comments and gossip, and we have a disaster. As an attorney, I really hope the "jd" at the end of your name doesn't represent your degree because that mentality and biased conclusions will never work successfully in a judicial career.

@@Naughtbt you make a lot of very good points. I feel Jaclyn was HEAVILY influenced by Morphe (Linda) very early on, this started with J not keeping her promise to Marlania Stell and their collab. I feel that she was lead down a road where money and things were lavished on her and she came from a very humble background. I think Linda/Morphe also told her to lie about the pallets that were supposed to be recalled and then they were basically just put right back out into circulation. I believe she had ZERO ability to change any of those decisions that were being made and she did not really comprehend the massive long term consequences of putting her name on products and not have ANY real power over how those products were made, and how recalls etc would be handled. She did have power over how her own brand was handled and that is the one time when everyone was fully refunded their money. If we look at the other situations (specifically around makeup) all the other incidents that happened with a makeup product the product carried her name, but she had no power over how the product was made, where it was made and how any defects are handled. The other businesses she launched that also had a lot of very questionable decisions surrounding those businesses, one was the jewelry and the other was the clothing business. I wont go into the issues that surrounded both of those businesses but they did show that making extremely poor decisions in which she hurt other people. Now she is living in a house owned by Linda (Morphe) which sadly says she still has extremely close ties to her, and to me, as someone who clearly only has a tiny sliver of knowledge that is available to the public, I feel that she would be infinitely better off if she did not have this close relationship with someone who I feel has steered her wrong at every turn. Just my opinion but I will also say...I watch all of her tiktoks, I enjoy her videos and I also am very happy that she has found happiness and is so much healthier and quit drinking. I do not wish harm or poor mental health or being an addict on anyone, ever. I wish her happiness and I hope that as she becomes stronger and in a healthy relationship, if someone asks her or suggests she do something that is going to harm someone else, hopefully she will feel confident enough to just say no.

I don’t think you should feel guilty for the Jaclyn video. You were informing the consumer about several things: was pr in better condition, were the fuzzies or balls only on top of the lipstick or throughout, etc. You also were already doing microscope videos. It’s not like you went out and bought a microscope specifically for that video. You also filmed it right at the beginning of the scandal; your photo on Twitter was one of the first Jaclyn retweeted. You were respectful and professional throughout the video and not rude or “pile on attitude” at all.
@SamanthaGBeauty
@SamanthaGBeauty 9 күн бұрын
This! Also the video Kristi did was no different than if it was another brand. Jaclyn has a very “victim” mentality and she constantly uses things that happen, that she herself had a hand in, to gain sympathy and blame others. She never takes accountability.
@ThatGirlShelbyy
@ThatGirlShelbyy 9 күн бұрын
Not to mention, Jaclyn literally stole the brand of a Canadian content creator, got tons of hate for it, and lost a lot of supporters that had been with her for over a decade (including myself because I followed the Canadian content creator for even longer, since I'm also Canadian) just to shut the company down within a year. There is no justifying that, and I lost all respect for Jaclyn at that point. The hairy lipsticks were one thing, but taking another creators branding is unforgivable.
@betsybabf748
@betsybabf748 4 күн бұрын
@@SamanthaGBeauty We all saw, at least the adults did, the disgusting and almost criminal behavior attacking her. One of these days nasty commenters will push a creator to suicide, and they will be, and should be, prosecuted. That is not having a "victim mentality". That is being the victim of the behavior of some mentally unstable nasty humans who were raised poorly, and should be fixing the person they see in the mirror rather than criticizing those they see on their screen. It's sad that some were raised so badly they think not liking someone gives them permission to bully, gossip and insult, and the ironic thing is they are too stupid to realize that make them the bad people, not who they bash. As for accountability for the lipsticks, she did far more than she had the legal liability to do, refunding every customer, even happy customers, with a $2.2M loss. As an attorney, I found that is shocking, and she went far beyond what any company would do and what the judicial system would ever expect. Anyone claiming she didn't take accountability have very little education and absolutely no business sense.

As an art teacher and an artist, I can totally give you the allowance to say you are an artist. Your technique is lovely. You hold the brush in a way that says you're comfortable with it, and you get the idea that it can always be painted over. A lot of people struggle with reflections on glass, and you did exactly what you should by going for the shape instead of trying to make it match what it's reflecting. A+++

Actually it’s pretty refreshing to see someone say they hope they didn’t add to the mental health issues. I know of at least one person who tries to justify the difference between being a bully and being honest and that person is definitely a bully putting on a smile. They definitely egg on their followers to be even meaner by proxy. To say - hey that had to be a nightmare to go through and maybe I could have handled it differently - is a breath of fresh air. I’m not a fan of Jaclyn, but I’m even more not a fan of bullies who think they are justified in bullying because they call it something else.

I haven't watched the whole video yet, but coming from someone who does feel comfortable calling themselves an artist, I completely agree that practice is the key to growth. Also, you don't have to achieve some abstract goal before calling yourself one, too! The ultimate goal isn't always obtaining a realistic art style either; it can be painterly, cartoonish, pop art, minimalism, etc. I just feel like many people think of photorealism as the be-all and end-all of their growth as an artist, or as a consumer, thinking of it as the greatest of skill for an artist, but this simply isn't the case 😊 Allow yourself to create in a way that feels right to YOU, no matter the style or subject. Just thought I'd share my 2 cents on the matter! Keep it up Kristi ❤🖌

I forgot how beautiful the mural was. That is truly art. I loved watching you paint. I have always wanted to try with acrylics or watercolor, and I so do not have any technique or perspective. I keep saying it is something I'll do when I retire. I can absolutely relate to not doing things because you feel like you should be good at them right away. Finally, in a sea of opinions 😄 I'm just one more: Kristi, you explained how you felt about the Jaclyn lipstick drama now and that's so adult, feeling accountable for something that went far beyond your intent or motivation. But (again, IMO) there is much about that outside of your responsibility. The general public that feeds and nurtures the negative into a frenzy needs to understand that they bear responsibility for their part in bullying, insulting, and raging well outside the boundaries of propriety. That is not on you. 💋 Thanks for talking about all the things. You're the best.

I'm always so impressed with people with artistic talent, where I don't have any. I can barely draw stick people lol. I also can't imagine having the patience to use a tiny brush and get every stroke of paint just right, but the results look so good. Unfortunately with the mob attacks Jaclyn got, she was very close to unaliving herself. The sickest thing is even hearing what the behavior caused someone, there was people in those comments bullying and insulting her more, being the nasty human beings they are. One of these days those people will cost a creator their life, and it is disgusting. Those viewers/commenters should fix the humans they see in their own mirrors rather than criticizing those they see on their screens.

You knew the odds were high that it would go viral because you were a very successful content creator by then who knew how to create a buzz with tour uploads. Wasnt aware you were politically central/ambiguous. I wish you well but I dont think its really just a matter of opinion, its a matter of safety, life and death for a LOT of people.

Politically central isn’t bad to me. It just means you’re open to seeing both sides and forming your own opinion.
@nshvh
@nshvh 9 күн бұрын
@juniorarchuleta9454 there's no harmless way of being central. Standing on the sidelines of a bully and a victim means youre letting the bullying happen. One side is about protecting human rights and providing safety for disenfranchised peoples, the other side is about stripping those rights and preserving capitalist interests.
@oliviaanderson1210
@oliviaanderson1210 9 күн бұрын
@@nshvhhow does that make any sense? Both parties are pro war (their establishments at least, which really are those that pull the strings) so by definition the only way to oppose what you refer to as “bullying” is to be either centrist or independent/libertarian and removed from that binary. There is no “one side” that is for protecting human rights, might I remind you that that nice pretty liberal side you love is currently funding a plausible genocide. This way of thinking you have is why things have only been getting worse in this country for decades - we just swing from one party winning to the other when both have been screwing us, which is facilitated by people like you that think one of those two sides will save us.

Exactly. So many people don’t have the luxury of being politically central. And I don’t know how any person who is capable of becoming pregnant could be politically central at this point in time. Imagine being a mother who cannot have a medically necessary abortion because of an abortion ban-what does that mean, not only for her but her other children? She is meant to risk her life for an unviable pregnancy, potentially leave her other children without a mother? These are realistic scenarios we should all be concerned about, for ourselves and/or those we love.

I am shocked that you don't feel like an artist! You seriously are so creative and I have been surprised in the past that you don't do more art videos because you are so talented! But I get what you mean about the imposter syndrome. I am a senior art and illustration major in college and still kinda struggle with that haha. Keep going, you are great

I make art, and I’ve always thought superrealism was overrated. (Maybe laziness on my part too, but I take my art seriously) Now that A I art has been released for the world to develop, hyperrealism is available for anyone to create. It’s the imperfections that make art a human creation.

Marlena Stell's videos have done FAR more harm to Jaclyn's name and her credentials than Kristi's video. I am not throwing shade on Marlena, she told her truth and she waited quite a while before she did these tell all videos. I still watch Jaclyn's videos, but I would not trust her ever. She has proven she can not be trusted, so she is in with the other 98% of influencers. I watch influencers for entertainment, not to get my tips on investments etc. Anyone who is pooping on Kristie for the microscope video must also be pooping on Marlena's multiple videos where she talks in great detail about Jaclyn and her business with her.

Additionally you'd be a great illustrator for children's and certain kinds of fantasy books. Also very smart of you to be seeking other forms of income besides KZbin.

i think that looks really, really good. i want more of these!!! i would also like to see your paint set. what paints do you like to use and what brushes are you using and what are your favorite ones? and do you paint the sides of your canvas? i do. also i didnt think you were being malicious about the microscope. i thought it was informative, however i think she could have handled the whole lipstick thing a bit better than she did. but thats not a battle you/we could fight for her, we all live and learn and all of our fight in life are different from one another. and... our fight in life is nobody else's business, unless they turn harmful. paint more Kristi! you are an artist, dearheart. 💙
