From personal experience during nearly 30 years of addiction to Heroin, I found that Methadone was great to have to fall back on when Heroin was unavailable for one or two days (I was always in full time employment too), I never used it to try to get OFF Heroin, it was just to stop me going into withdrawals when I could'nt score so I could still go to work without shitting myself and not being strong enough to break a lollipop stick in half. As time went on and I began to seriously want to bé free, i first of all reduced the Methadone as much as possible till i was only on Heroin , and when those horrible two days came around where there was no Heroin, i camped out in my bathroom, and made arrangements to Switch to a relatively high dose of Buprenorphine and Naloxone. On the third day i started them and my symptoms went. Thé craving was still there and the insomnia too, for a long time. But I knew that if I took even a small amount of Heroin i would bé thrown into precipitated withdrawals and feel worse than before and have no choice but to wait it out. So now I am on Suboxone everyday, my sleep has mostly come back and my cravings are much, much less. In my opinion, Methadone is just for addicts who are not quite ready to stop and it enables them to function when there is no Gear, and when the Gear eventually arrives they can take it on top of the Methadone. But Suboxone is a Big Help for when they décidé they really DO want to get off the Heroin. It's a long hard road but it CAN bé done. I am...more or less 3 yrs clean (medically assisted) after nearly 30 years on Heroin, am not over the hump yet but am not giving up..."it gets easier" so people tell me. 🤨✊👍Love and Strength to you all out there, going through the same goodtimes/badtimes shit. Dr B absolutely love your content. I’m currently on week 2 of 16mg Suboxone induction and I’m feeling normal like before I never took any opioids. I was on 160mg daily of Slow release morphine for 8 years. My Phycgiatrist suggested putting me on Suboxone as he knew I was physically dependent on morphine but I know I was also mentally addicted I’m finding out as the days go by because I still mentally miss Morphine. Withdrawal of opioids are pure hell. I am sorry for all that have went through opioids withdrawals. It’s traumatic. As the weeks go by will my mental cravings stop. I feel fantastic physically but do get mental cravings 2-3 times a day but was 8-10 at 12mg of Subs. Again on week 2 of taking 16mg of subs, I thank my Phycgiatrist and Dr.’s like you that are for Subs as life is so much better not on pain pills. Thank you for all you do Dr B🤙

hello Dr. B, thank you again for taking time to create a very informative video! i'm currently having trouble with my medication and was hoping on some advise.. i'm on 150mg/day tramadol right now from my neurologist mainly for depression. he knows of my addiction and doesnt want to give me a higher dose. i would like to switch to subutex BUT the substitute Dr says tramadol dependence wouldn't be enough to start this treatment. do you have any ideas why it would be a bad idea to switch since i don't understand her on this.. thank you and take care

Why do I feel so much pain all over my body whenever I try to use buprenorphine to come off smoking opiates? I'm also a heavy drinker, I'm very self destructive. So I stop and start the buprenorphine and I start on a low dose of 4mg twice a day..should I be using a higher dose?

Coming off suboxone is worse than heroin withdrawals.. I went from 8mg to 2mg no problem… I passed a drug test with a faint line after 5 days. Day 6 went into complete withdrawals… there’s gotta be an easier way

I drink 2 beers a few nights a week after a long day of work to wind down a bit. Never had any issue with alcohol like I do with opiates. I don't find any negative effects from a couple beers and my usual Suboxone dose. I guess it all depends on the patients unique situation. Hell I also take Adderall and I've been on the same dose for many years without any issue. I doubt that is common but it all works for me and I'm even lowering my Suboxone dose over time.

My Wife and I are using fetnayl daily for about a year and a half . While we are Using the Bernice method to micro dose can we still use our fentanyl during the first five days if we’re feeling withdrawal we are not IV users we snort is that gonna be an issue or can we only snort one line a day

U can still use fent during the induction micro-dosing stage. After a few days you’ll start to notice the effects of the fent is not working as much. At that time you should be good to take hirer or normal doses of subs I’d say 6mg at 2/3x’s a day and quit fent without pw. Worked for me. Then taper down slow from subs and your free again. Just don’t go back to any opiates after. Good luck

Me personally, I switched from methadone to subs and feel 100 times better! I don't sweat like crazy, my teeth quit rotting, I didn't feel lethargic or have withdrawals in middle of the night (even at a high dose).

I Just started on suboxone & nal. Started on 2 -2mg strips every 6 hours now I’m at 1 & 1/2 8 & 2mg strips a day and still feeling anxious and craving and very aggravated… what should I do or tell my doctor to feel more comfortable

I’m not sure where to turn, I’m not sure if I’m a special case, or if others just aren’t honest or if my body is just very different. I’ve been on Suboxone for a while now, over a year. If I take my recommended dose of 16 mg I’m good. Say I take my last dosage at 4pm. 24 hours later I’m still feeling fine, 48 hours later I’m still feeling good. I don’t start to feel any physical withdrawals until about the 96 hour mark. Then if I take just half my recommend dosage of 8mg’s I’m good for another 48 hours. Is that common?

Ok what if someone took one a day for 3 year's which is less than the right dosage of Suboxone and decided one day just to stop taking, will they get you deathly sick like a narcotic feeling?? Throwing up,mean, irritable, RLS, Etc, I knew a friend addicted to oxycodone 15 mg and couldn't stop because of that sickness so technically that's my question? Will they feel the same way?? As oxycodone 🤷 Asking for a friend.

I tried Suboxone for about a month but then I asked my doctor to put me back on Oxy, which she did. Here is why I hate Suboxone: It takes hour and half to dissolve in my case, leaves a very bad taste behind, which I couldn't take it anymore and I got some euphoria out of it, which I didn't mind at all. However, if you are in bad withdrawals, this drug will do wonders for you. One excellent thing about Suboxone for me, I felt normal after a very long time and I didn't wake up sick every morning. Dr. B, you are wrong - Suboxone does have some euphoria so stop the misinformation. After taking 45 minute Suboxone class, doctors nowadays think they are addiction experts.

Why??? Why in the first place was you put on Suboxone? Was it for pain relief or because of addiction? I dont see why a doctor would take u off of Oxys n put u on Suboxone and then back on Oxyz just because u asked for it. Dont make sense. Actually, I am not wrong. Watch more videos and put it in context please. Also, my expertise does not come from a 45 minute class. In addition, there are about 10 different ways to address every one of the three complaints you initially make and one thousand reasons, given the correct clinical context, for you to be put back on suboxone. In terms of a global response to your comment: It is exactly why I do so much education and that is a single patient experience cannot be extapolated as meaninful general clinical advice and may even be downright deadly if taken as such. I hope thisa helps and I hpe I can find time to give you a more robust and detailed answer somehow in the near future. I hope this helps.

Even in high doses, it has NEVER made me feel in the slightest bit high. However, i know people who aren't opioïde addicts who crush it up and snort it and THEY get something off it, but not people who are used to Heroin and such. What an insult to presume our DOCTOR B, just took a 45 minute information class and that that is his level of expertise on the subject. I think it is YOU who has fuck-all expérience judging by your ignorant comment and you are just embarrassing yourself. I seriously think you should apologise.

Both opioids and alcohol were my drugs of choice and the only ones I actually got addicted to, I take 8 mgs suboxone daily and drink 12-14 beers daily now, and I kicked H long ago (back when heroin was still heroin and not fentanyl laced garbage) Ive had no problem with subs since I started on 4 mgs daily.....I feel stabilized and clear headed on subs but never felt a true opioid buzz from them and I'm glad I didn't. You shouldn't take this medication if you're NOT an opioid addict trying to get their life back togethe. It does all depend on the person. Im just gonna say this though, suboxone shits on all of the other options I tried (mushroom microdosing way after i fully tripped multiple times, methadone which caused the worst withdrawals off of any opioid I've ever withdrawaled off of, not to mention it made me a pure zombie for the roughly 3 months I was on it... And lastly, kratom which I ended up miserably hooked on and it started causing seizures which happened 7 times in total while I was taking it, hair loss and clear kidney problems.....I wasn't taking anything else around this time i was using kratom and for me personally these were just the side effects I got from the garbage, it's way oversupported and overhyped by the less educated, look at r/quittingkratom if you wanna know how the substance actually works for most people. I started on Vics and trams, eventually it lead to heroin and luckily fentanyl wasn't around during this time, after H it lead to methadone and that shit was a nightmare for me, after methadone it was kratom for 3 years and another nightmare, eventually I decided to give sub a try I've been on it for about 2 months now and for me it is an awesome substance in many ways . There is zero craving for any other opioids on this, however it doesn't cure things like meth, alcohol, coke, benzo, etc addiction so don't think that......however in my experience It is so good for treating opioid addiction
