The key to being good at anything is having a big enough ego to have a tremendous amount of self confidence. The problem with having a big ego is; it usually involves being an asshole in terms of personality. That is clearly evident with; Stuttering John, Artie Lang, and Howard Stern, but Lang and Stern do have a developed comedic talent, Stuttering John; not-so-much. To be honest; I've heard of Opie and Anthony, I've never listened to them enough to comment. My initial impression was they were Howard Stern wannabe's and it seems like Artie goes to them now that Stern won't have him on. Stuttering John is a rude New Yorker with a stutter. He was a perfect tool for Howard Stern because he had the balls to confront people with rude questions and he had the vulnerability of having a stutter while doing it. Stuttering John is a buffoon with a vulnerability that separated him from normal people (like Gary Garver who didn't have a stutter and wasn't near as funny asking the same questions) and John does not posses any developed talent, he needed a Howard Stern to write his questions and give him direction. Jay Leno could have hired anyone to be his announcer but he hired an established stutterer (which was a dick move towards Stern) as a goof. John is delusional when he thinks he's "smart" or "more talented" than non-stutters with the same level of buffoonery. Both John and Artie are lost with out Stern (Stern has jumped the shark by becoming PC and going Hollywood) and Stuttering John and Artie focus on slamming Stern because they have nothing else.

Artie is really not funny or entertaining on a professional level any longer. He is the epitome of the "funny friend" who makes everyone laugh in someone's living room and is encouraged to go to an open mic night at Chuckles. The quick talk during a wheezy, phlegmy laugh, covers the fact that he has nothing funny left to say. He's a caricature of a dive bar comic, who works for drinks and buffalo wings. He was never an A List comic and the booze and heroin has completely destroyed him. It's a miracle he's continued to work, bouncing from podcast to satellite and having different partners every year or two. I've never seen anyone get more chances than him and it seems like all that's left for him is to bash others.
