You know, it's weird. I always thought of this movie as one of the goofier MCU movies back then, but even this movie had a certain...seriousness to it that modern MCU lacks. Like even when modern MCU is being serious, it still feels self-aware and tongue-in-cheek. Whereas even when the old MCU was being goofy, it still felt genuine and didn't undermine darker aspects of the narrative.

I used to take things like The Avengers for granted lmao. Seemed funny at the time, but in comparison to modern marvel, it feels so serious. As sad as it is that new marvel sucks, at least it makes old marvel even better by comparison. Iron Man 1 and Avengers with always be my absolute favorites

@@Kali-bs7oj I think a lot of this feeling has to do with people's perspectives about life itself changing over time....I rewatched a lot of the old MCU movies and realized they really weren't as good or were the same as I remember them, some of them just being floppy in the same way as some of the newer ones. I think there is plenty of good content that has come out, but of course some of it was just bound to be crappy due to a pandemic putting insane restrictions on all industries, writers strikes, too much pressure for any type of diversity, unexpected actors deaths, and of course, overproduction of content. Personally, I'm not surprised that it went as weird as it did especially in 2022 and 2023, but there was still solid content and in some ways something exciting about the newer directions Marvel started going in. But I was never too attached to the original MCU characters, so it didn't bother me to see it change as much as other people. There's a whole Marvel Universe to explore, and while I thought She Hulk, the Marvels and Thor 4 were flat out bad, Loki, Shang Chi and Guardians 3 are some of the best stories in the whole MCU

You know, I do genuinely wonder if Mattel (the current rights holder of _Thomas and Friends_ ) only okayed the cameo on the condition that the Thomas, Annie, and Clarabel toys weren’t destroyed. Clarabel (the second orange coach) always rides at the back of the train in the show, so they added a couple other coaches and a caboose to A: put more distance between Ant-Man and Yellowjacket, and B: keep any of Mattel’s named characters from getting exploded by a supervillain.
