Mopar has a similar torsion bar spring in the front. Ride height can be reset with one wrench. Gotta love simple but effective.

The torsion bars have different numbers of splines on inner vs outer ends, this gives fine adjustment, in about 5mm increments of ride height. Not sure why the aftermarket screw adjuster was needed.

I used those silicone gaskets on my VW. They distort fast with heat. Cork is best!

Not sure if I had a 1970 or 1971 type 3. It was a nice car. I drove it from Boston to Phoenix and back with no problems at all. It's only drawback was I had to get an automatic transmission because my other half could not drive a stick. And it was a step up from the previous 2 beetles that I had. Lastly, it looked just like the one is working on--same style and color.
