Such an informative video - thank you. Your passion and concern for the welfare of the local Turkish people comes across so strongly. ❤ 1. I imagine that, as with gentrification across the world, less affluent locals are being priced out of the popular areas? 2. Whilst property prices are unlikely to go down, you'd imagine that the cost of living will go down once inflation is hopefully brought under control? 3. Do you think xenophobia is growing in Turkey, and have you witnessed any xenophobia in your time in Antalya? Thanks 🙏
@tiptopturkey
@tiptopturkey 9 ай бұрын
Hi, glad you like our video!😊 1. I don't think it is about gentrification. It is more about the mentality of the people. A simple example are cars prices. 2. Well, I have never seen properties prices go down, but it may slow down sometimes. Fighting the inflation is slowing it but not stopping it. The government increased the fuel prices by adding 6 Turkish Lira tax, which lifted the prices of every single thing in the market. 3. I've never seen xenophobia. Sometimes, they complain about the influx that came from the Russian-Ukrianian war and the big numbers of Syrians. Never saw them aggressive in this regard.

So is it really worth it to move to Turkey? I love visiting there but to be honest with the recent crazy inflation, some of the prices you mentioned can be more expensive than the normal places in the USA like the suburbs of major cities. Even before 5-10 years when converting to US$ Turkey was still cheaper by twice or three times even. I think it isn’t worth it to move anymore to Turkey. Not to mention that income in the USA is much higher. Sadly Turkey is now more expensive than some Arab countries like Egypt and Jordan and Iraq and maybe even Lebanon.
@tiptopturkey

Hi, unfortunately this is the situation nowadays in Turkey. Everything they tie it to the USD currency, which makes things hard for the locals and also expensive on the expats where they have to think twice before moving to Antalya. As a Lebanese, I can say Lebanon is much cheaper after the hyperinflation that happened since 2019. This is the strange thing in Turkey, with inflation things are getting more and more expensive even for the local products.

Hi, there are plenty of boat tours from Antalya Old Town (Kaleiçi). Also you can book online and they will provide free transfer. Prices starting around 25 USD depending on the tour length. For safari, i am not much familiar, but you can check with agents during your time in Antalya. You will find a lot in the touristic areas. Always check reviews before booking. Enjoy your trip!

Hi, very informative video! I'll be moving to Antalya in 2 months time, so this is very useful. It seems however that while living in any expat area, one cannot really live on much less than 1000EUR: - rent 16000tl - utilities + internet 2000tl - food 4500tl - car insurance + fuel 1000tl - alcohol +other 1500tl = 25 bin TL Would you say this estimate sounds realistic? I know an average person earns much less in Turkiye, but my salary should allow me to maintain a similar living standard coming from a western country.

I lived in Antalya for half a year from September to February. I miss the beauty of nature, hence why i watch videos like this, but it was a nightmare to live here. Very cold rainy winter, price of power is insane, mostly bad restaurants (i guess they expect tourists to visit just once), a lot of opportunistic people, very bad and expensive internet service, expensive digital devices. I guess it was good for a 10 days of vacation in a hotel when the price offers were good. But i would not consider it for permanent residence again. It was a relief to leave this place.

Antalya does not even have its own local cuisine and because of those all-inclusive resorts all around it, there is not much of a restaurant or cafe culture. I find food in Antalya much worse than other parts of Turkiye, especially the cities in the southeast, starting with Adana.

I believe cost and quality of food is much better than in the USA. So tired of hiking for expensive organic or good quality food in US. Vegetables and meats even organic taste awful. Moreover food is industry in US owned by those who control what’s in it. I think I need a break from constant driving and malnutrition in US 😅

Gas is 2.10/ litre (87 octane/low grade) Sales taxes 12% after price on shelf Preschool per child per month 1500-2000 - so mom can work. (Age .6 to 4 years old)...pay that every month. 5 year olds' natural fibre outfit 90$ Housing for renters 1 bedroom 1350 (a dump) -2100 per month (modern-ish) Average mortgage payment is 3000$/month but can go as high as 6000. Hi, thank you for sharing these details with us. Nowadays, everywhere life is not easy anymore. But if you compare an apple for apple, it is much harder here in Turkey. You included house mortgages and cars etc. Here, it is harder to own them nowadays. One-third of the people earn USD 422 per month, so they can not pay the installment of a used small family car with a value of USD 10,000. A minimum house price is USD 100,000 so the monthly payment is gonna eat all the salary and needs more, that is if someone manages to get a mortgage, which is very hard with such a salary. Rentals went up like crazy times 3 or 4 at least within 2 years. The Turkish Lira lost 85% of its value against USD and is still losing. Even renting a house in a rural area doubled or tripled. Although Turkey is an agricultural and industrial country, prices are expensive with respect to local products and small salaries. Let's hope things and living conditions get better for everyone in the world. 😊

Hi there, if you bought your property in Mahmutlar before the area was closed for residency, you are entitled to get your Ikamet. The amount in the tapu of your property would have to be $ 75k or higher. If this is not the case, you still have the option to get the tapu adjusted to the minimum amount. You than have to pay the tax difference and you will definitely get your Ikamet. There are people who can help you with that. For instance Mete or take a lawyer, they are really not expensive.
