Truth be told, I did sneak out briefly - in full survival gear - at the peak. Changed my mind real fast. @revenevan1111 ай бұрын
Astronauts have gone there for training before! In some ways Antarctica is worse because it is less easy to get home than from low earth orbit. The space station always has enough seats on capsules to return everyone in case of an emergency, even a medical one that they can't handle on station. It might be a bummer for the other people assigned to that capsule to have to go home early just because john got appendicitis though lol. However in antarctica they can send a few more people and more Lbs of equipment than to space, so they have more contingency supplies and additional medical support staff.

0:43 This really brings home the frightening realization of how these people's continued survival completely depends on the continued humming of their generators, furnances, etc. Like being an astronaut out in space, with nothing but a wall between you and eternity...
@onslaughtmma51103 жыл бұрын
The more frightening realisation is that is most people lives, we're just more removed from the danger and live in too much comfort oblivious to all he complicated and temperamental infrastructure giving us the luxury. But as corona panic show us we have about week without fuel, 3 days without food or power and a day without water, before total societal collapse and armed gangs vs resistance survivors as the new civilisation. At least there's no ice bandits out there to worry about there, perhaps they're the safe ones.

Space? Try the northern midwest in winter. It's illegal to turn off a person's power in winter because they will literally freeze to death

@spoofilybeloved67293 жыл бұрын
@@onslaughtmma5110 well obviously theirs is more immediate. we’re probably in a situation where those 3 days give us time to find alternative solutions, and work to survive. In space, or in Antarctica, if your systems irreparably fail, that’s it. You have no wiggle room. No time to decide and work on a solution. You act fast or you die.

KZbin staff announced more than a year ago it would randomly recommend the most watched old videos in order to give them a "second chance" due to issues they had when trying to translate that 5-stars rating system to the new, highly nonlinear AI it uses nowadays.
