Antenna Comparison on 6m During a Sporadic-E Opening on the Icom 7300

Video of me comparing two antennas on the 6m band during a Sporadic E opening. I switched between my Diamond V2000 connected with 30m of Ecoflex 10 coax and my Western-HF10 connected with 30m of RG-58. The Western-HF10 was tuned using an external ATU.
Signal strengths were a good 5 S points louder on the V2000 colinear. I knew it was better but wasn't able to do a side by side comparison like this before.

Signal differences are mainly due to polarity and antenna beamwidth (takeoff) not coax. I get same difference between 4 element beam at 12m and colinear at 9m. Some sigs close in (using high angle E's are stronger on colinear than beam. Sometimes can't hear them on the beam at all if the E's are close in, beam "shoots" underneath cloud. So beam/H dipole for longer DX. Vertical for close in. More noise on all verticals as most QRM is vertical polarity.

Thanks for the test. Observations: 1) When switching between two antennas on receive, your ATU on the rig needs to be OFF. The ATU affects reception on the antenna that it is not tuned to 2) I could not hear a dickie bird of what you were saying as your radio volume was louder than your voice 3) I have no idea what a Western HF10 is, perhaps you only get it in the UK. Wondering if it is designed for and resonant on 6 meters ?

You’ve got around 10 dB lost because of the different coax, any more was probably different antenna pattern
