Hi Dr Prasad, my father underwent the procedure recently however, it led to dysphagia which caused aspiration and lung infection. Do you see dysphagia as common issue post this procedure? How has your experience been treating it? Thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

It is quite common for patients to have dysphagia after this procedure. Usually it improves over time although aspiration and even pneumonia are occasionally seen. Hopefully it responds to antibiotics. If the dysphagia persists it may be a good idea to see an ENT specialist who can evaluate the swallowing dysfunction and offer better guidance. Good luck. -SP

What is recovery time and post surgery precautions .
@prasadspineacademy9 ай бұрын
You should speak with your surgeon as every surgeon has their own protocol for the post-op period. I usually tell patients that recovery is 8-12 weeks. Hope that helps, SP

Hello are you concerned about vocal cord paralysis with an AC DF and how common is that please? Thank you kindly

We are always concerned about it but permanent vocal cord paralysis is not that common for routine, primary ACDFs in my experience. Good luck, -SP

Hi, I'm sorry for the delay in responding. I'm afraid I can't offer specific guidance or opinions in your mom's case as I have not evaluated her condition or imaging. I think progressive symptoms definitely warrant evaluation and imaging. Good luck, SP
