About the recover time they informed me that is almost a month and for that time I have to wear a soft collar 24/7 (I live in Greece so the European recovery protocol is slightly different than US). During that month you have mild discomfort like numbness or / and minimal pain, it's forbidden to drive and be extra cautious with lifting weights. The surgical incision also need 2 - 4 weeks for total recovery. Plus the first 2 weeks you have a slight discomfort when swelling. To sum up, it was piece of cake. I entered the surgery with myelopathy and came out healthy and pain free. If I had known earlier how easy, painless and life changing the whole process was, I would have definitely done it at least 5 years earlier.

I got to see one of these in my med school rotations. A neck wound infection got into the C5 and it collapsed. Truly a wicked procedure.

Thank you for this video. Im having my acdf done in 2 weeks. Degenerative cervical myelopathy from c3/C4 to c6/c7. Neural foramenal stenosis and cervical stenosis. Don't know what it means and the Dr's dont give much info. Was told to check videos on KZbin. This video put me at ease, you make it look straightforward and risk free.

Had this surgery a little over a year ago C4-C7 helped with a lot of the problems I had with pain and balance but couldn’t fix the myopathy in my shoulders and arms. I was a welder from 26 years and now on disability. Don’t wait too long like I did to fix it.

I'm having a 3rd ACDF in a few days. I'm not worried at all about it. Although it may look brutal, there is very little post-op pain, and the pain and numbness caused by the condition was immediately gone. I've had 15 major operations, and ACDF is by far the easiest.

I had a degenerative disc in C4/C5 and C6/C7. I had disc replacement and had immediate relief. I got fully cleared, and three days later, I blew out C7/T1. It was the worst pain I've ever felt, and I've broken bones. I had a fusion 2 weeks ago after being in pain for 2.5 months. The pain down the arm is almost gone but still have numbness in my fingers. I now have some discomfort in my upper back/trap area, but see the doctor in 4 days..

I had this done a little over 10 yrs ago. Spinal cord severe compressed. My hands felt like there were in a bucket of ice all the time. Horrible. Scheduled surgery a week later. Don't remember a thing. Surprisingly there was very little post op pain. Spent the night and come home the next morning. Restrictions were minimal. No neck brace or halo ring - no anything. Took it easy for 7-10 days. No shower for 3 days was the worst of it. Pretty much back to routine everyday stuff w/in a couple of weeks. Never a single question in my mind for getting this done. Since, I've been fine.

I am facing this surgery here in less than a month. I am having IU Neuro do the surgery. Oh I am freaking out. lol. Not so much worried about the surgery just worried about coming home. I won’t be able to come home because I have animals that will be the most excruciating part for me. But my husband is here to take care of them. I just hope this really takes care of my survey photogenic headache. It literally feels like my head is going to explode and I will have a headache for like weeks on end. It’s really unbelievable and then of course all the other symptoms associated with this I’m not quite as severe as this patient but, it’s moderate. I have immense respect for you surgeons I don’t even know how you do this. Thank you for helping people. God bless you always!! ❤

Thank you for this. I'm a new xray Technologist and they never teach us the many cases to do in the OR so I am terrified even as a new hire when it's time to go to a case because many of them I have no idea what they even are. It's hard to find videos from an xray stand point what to expect but your video provided a great explanation of the process while including a bit of xray imaging so I have a better idea what to expect for an ACDF than I did my entire senior year in radiology school. Thanks great vid, Doctor!
