I'm a classical musician -- double bass -- so I'm pretty picky about how string libraries sound. Usually it's something about the attack, or the speed of the vibrato or whatever that takes away the realism for me. But I have to say -- from what I've heard, this library sounds really really good -- especially for the price. Warm and natural, and so many articulations! I'm watching this video as I'm downloading it and I can't wait to play around with it myself. Thank you for a beautiful demonstration.

Just . . . thank you, Ryan. I lost track of when exactly Anthology was updated, with all those Adagio updates in between, but it turns out I have apparently been able to do chordal legato and multi-note arcs since either July 2019 or February 2020 AND I NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN IT if it wasn't for this inspired (and yes, totally inspirational) video.

I hear a glitchy, bumpy type sound that's not very smooth sounding around 17:30 where you are demoing the Chamber Poly-time Arc feature. Maybe this is something you can improve before releasing the update. Thanks.

I think you'll find that, if you have July 2019: "Anthology Strings 1.3", that you already own it. I may be incorrect, but this video is a reflection ('A long awaited video has finally arrived') of how great that update of Anthology is.

This was a nice demonstration of what Anthology can do. Good job. But i wouldn't dial the speed knob to max for the shorts like that at the beginning cause it makes them sounds unnatural. Unless you want to go very fast i guess.

The sounds from 8Dio are always with a lot of room signals, are there a way to choose the Mics positions is this library? Could you please show a bit how you compose the music here, sometimes it looks like you have played freely and than splitted the voices for editing the CCs, in some other pieces i can see the metrix very clearly. Thanks a lot!
@Justin.Franks
@Justin.Franks 3 жыл бұрын
Is there any chance of sharing MIDI files for some of the demos in this video? Even in the beginning, when you are just playing live with no added reverb (your reverb sends at 2:53 look to be off), it sounds significantly better than what my copy of Anthology does. Maybe there is something wrong with my copy, but what I am hearing here is much more lush and lifelike than playing through the library on my machine. If I could load up the MIDI or the Logic project for the demos and play it through my copy, I can see if there is something wrong with my copy, or if Anthology just responds differently than my other string libraries to MIDI CC's. Thanks!

At 13:06 you play Violas - Ensemble "Legato Mute" with beautiful smooth passages. When I do the same here I have a annoying slur in all note transitions, and cannot find how to disable it. Am I missing something?

Great video! Is there a way to permanently map the "speed" control to a CC in the 8Dio engine? So i don't have to map it everytime i open an instance of 8dio patches?

can you not play the violins 1 & 2 separately? Seems enabling them only enables both, meaning there's no point in calling them violins 1 and 2.. seemingly.

Considering to buy it. But what's this in your license agreement: "The license for this product is granted only to a single user. You may use this product on up to two (2) separate computers, which computers shall be owned and used by you exclusively. " Imagine this scenario, my computers breaks down twice while having it installed, before I get a chance to uninstall/unregister (unlikely, but I've rather not walk around having to worry about stuff like that) .. Am I then just shit out of luck? Or is there a license management on their website where I can unregister licenses on PC's?
@PeterSatera
@PeterSatera 3 жыл бұрын
You're over thinking it. If your computer breaks twice, it's still the same pc being repaired. You're allowed it used on two pcs simultaneously. There's no registration, simple copy and paste. This is a statement for business licensing, meaning you can't do onsite distribution to a series of pcs or, send it to people who are working remotely.
@8dioproductions
@8dioproductions 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Joachim. If something like that happens and any libraries are blocked, just send an email to support@8dio.com and they can look into sending you replacement Serial Codes. The point of that statement in our EULA is to discourage illegal distribution of our libraries, which are all watermarked. As long as the computers are yours and you are the person using the libraries then you won't have any issues more than temporary, if that, which would prevent you from using our libraries :)

Can anyone here please briefly describe the difference between the anthology chamber and the "intimate studio" string libraries? Cheers
@Soundpaintmusic
@Soundpaintmusic 2 ай бұрын
So Anthology Chamber was recorded in a natural church environment, so you get more lush acoustics versus the Intimate Studio, which were recorded in dry studio. So the first question is what sound are you looking for? More natural wide acoustics or more narrow studio sound. The second relates to articulations. Generally speaking Intimate Studio has more articulations then Anthology Chamber, but Chamber does cover all the fundamentals needed and its more emotional in its sound. Intimate Studio is also modular, so you can assemble your own ensembles (ex. 1 violin, 4 violins, 7 violins etc). There is over 200 modular combinations of ensemble sizes in the library. Choices, choices. They supplement each other greatly btw. I view orchestral libraries in the same sense I view a band. Nobody brings in ONLY "BRAND X" into the studio. People bring what they like - and mix it together. Its the same for sample libraries. Even dry and wet ones combined. Cheers, Troels

8dio stresses how expressive the legato implementation is in their product marketing, but lack of portamento articulation is a BIG miss for any expressive emotional string library.
