I was also living in Las Vegas in 1980-1981, and I played the cello in the showrooms at the Hilton,Sahara, Riviera, and Caesar’s Palace. I also played for the Jerry Lewis Telethon. I played Blackjack against a single deck mainly. But I liked the 4 deck shoe games at the MGM before the casino fire. It was fun, but it was also a very unhealthy lifestyle eating casino food every day.

This strategy is more important in duplicate bridge than in tournament blackjack. At least in blackjack, you can get lucky and get a blactwhen your opponent picks up a 16.

@emmanuelvacakis44632 жыл бұрын
When you are behind, you need to do the opposite of what your opponent does even if it means taking an inferior line. That’s your only way of catching up. Your opponent should have been aware of this as well and concealed his betting strategy from you when it was his turn to bet last. Well he should have bet the same as you regardless of the count.

There's no reason not to use every available weapon in your arsenal. Counting is just one that can be used in conjunction with others. Besides, it's harder not to count once you're experienced with it. I will admit though the first time I saw someone bet big into a negative count blew me away. Until I saw the Aces hit his hand. My only thought was 'Professor.. my apologies.'

@emmanuelvacakis44634 жыл бұрын
You only play a limited amount of hands in a tournament. So if you are behind and bet with the count along with your opponent, you have no chance. Therefore you must bet the reverse of what your opponent is doing to have a chance to catch him. It’s about beating yourself opponent, and it doesn’t matter how much you lose by. This is also true in duplicate bridge. If you are behind, you need to take an inferior line of play and hope it beats the optimum line so you can catch up. If you take the same line as your opponent, you will tie him. But that’s not good enough for you. Again you need to. Eat your opponent so it doesn’t matter how badly you get beaten.

hi collin im new to basic strategy and i have been memorizing it for the past 2-3 days but there is something i don't understand about basic strategy. is it just for the 2 first cards im dealt or should i follow it for the 3rd and 4th card im dealt. for example if i have a 4 and 4=8 and the dealer have a 9 and i hit as basic strategy says so and i get an 5 should i then keep following what basic strategy says i am supposed to do against a 9 when i have 13? or is it just what im supposed to do if i get 13 with my 2 first cards. ps your channel is great all your videos are so well done keep up the good work.
@MrBrain45 жыл бұрын
Once you hit to get to 13, then you look up that new situation on the basic strategy chart. 13 vs. a dealer 9 is hit, so you should take another hit. Always look up your current total versus the dealer up card no matter how many cards you have. (Of course, you can't double or split once you have more than 2 cards, nor can you surrender if you have 2 cards in a new hand resulting from a split.)

We all simply assumed he was an idiot who was in a position to steal money, As an owner of UB, his decision to rob the players instead of waiting out for the windfall of money that was coming to him from rake goes down as one of the dumbest decisions in the history of gambling.

Then they would be on BJA podcasts but somehow people like us get swept under the rug. Unheard. Doing work on CVCX shows how wild this game can really be. Even after 1,000 hours of play swing of $100,000 are possible between two counters playing identical games in an identical fashion. One winning $15,000 the other $120,000 all for the same work.
