It's also a failure that more security was not on location before anything happened. Everyone knew there could be crowds involved. Sufficient security should have been on location in the morning hours.

@@zytebac No. Neither the Speaker or the Senate Majority Leader are in the chain of command to demand the deployment of the NG. That responsibility falls to the Capitol Police Board consisting of the Chief of the Capitol Police , both Sergeant's of Arms and the Capitol Architect. They recommend to the Mayor who goes to the president. The other way is through a direct order from the President. Further, there has been no testimony from anyone linking the failure to deploy the guard and Pelosi or McConnell. Besides that, the guard should have been pre deployed the day before and posted at various strategic locations around the Capitol.

There were very, very few DC police manning the barriers. Very few. The early videos I saw featured police yelling at the protestors and jabbing them with nightsticks. The protestors responded by charging forward.

It's helpful to start with the question: "Who ultimately benefits from allowing insurrectionists or patriots ( it doesn't matter what you call them as that is simply another way to muddy the waters and cause division ) from overtaking the peaceful transfer of power?" There is a big difference between insurrectionists and patriots. If this was by design and prevent the peaceful transfer of power, that must mean Biden actually won and the insurrectionist had no reason to be there in the first place. It can't be all of this together, because whoever is guilty and to blame you wouldn't be sending the NG "unless" there is a mob trying stop the peaceful transfer of power and that mob had legitimate intent, proving it was in fact an insurrection "and" Biden stole the election.
