I have had my hair done by Anthony Dickey several times and this is where I learned the method of a wash and go. He is awesome and I was following his directions incorporating my hair routine with my shower and my hair was thriving with the conditioner and then my styling product which would be either a gel or his products. The conditioner can be any conditioner does not have to be his in between and you use as much as your hair needs to loosen the curl pattern to hang and feel heavy. You can air dry, sit under the dryer or diffuse whatever you decide is good for you and your time management. When I was doing this method my hair was thriving and growing and I do have alocpcia in areas of my hair. But of course as other products come out you want to try them and I think I really damaged my hair doing that. I try to stay as natural as possible. My hair is now pretty thin and have more bald spots and my hair is very fine. I'm glad to find your channel as I am definitely going to try your products to try and grow my hair back. I believe when I stated my hair was 4A/4B.

Heyyyy. You’re going to the salon and your hair looks great. Look how long it still is after the blow up. I still have my mums and grandmother (Guyanese) mentality of going out with a wet/damp head to catch cold 😂🤦♀️. Cuz your hair is wet wet with that curling creams. Ok still go under the dryer. I do see the tapered cut. Looks great. Thanks for sharing and happy new year 🎆🎇
@MyCruisingFamily Жыл бұрын
Heyyy Cydney! Thanks for watching, my dear! I know... the whole concept of wetting my hair every day is foreign to what my Grandma who used to do my hair when I was little girl would do. Jamaican and Guyanese 🇯🇲🇬🇾mentality is quite similar with that. Speaking of which, I didn't know you're of Guyanese dissent! My bestie for decades, who is also one of AJ and LJ's Godmothers, is Guyanese, born and raised. 🥰Yeah, I've been playing around with the best times to do my wash & gos... in the evening after work vs. in the morning before work... if I do it in the evening, then I'm in the shower in the morning allowing the steam to revive the curls without soaking my hair🚿... but yes, still have to dry it, especially at this time of year. I'm researching a good diffuser, but for now, I've been sitting under an old hooded dryer we've had for years. Girl, I don't know what I'll be doing with my hair next trip, but I'm excited to figure it out!🥰 Happy new year to you, Valencio, and your family! Looking forward to sailing with you again in 2024! 🎉🤎❤

Oh sis yes! I wash and go every day! I use a ton of conditioner just like that. My conditioner is always gone before my shampoo. I do the same for my youngest son because he has a similar curl pattern as mine. My oldest has more wavy hair he won't let me put product in because of sensory sensitivity.

Oh wow! Yes! I love the hydrating effects of the every day / every other day wash-and-go routine. Happy to be giving my hair some rest right now since I put it in a protective style for Spring Break. Looking forward to wash-and-gos in the summer months 'cause it was a lot washing my hair in the mornings and getting it dry before going out in the winter weather.

Your final results are beautiful 😍 was it easy to actually get Anthony Dickey? I’m scared to make an appt because I want HIM and not someone who works there 😩 Annnd, from your experience, do you think he might be scissor happy and cut too much? I want a simple shape but I’m scared someone is going to chop all my hair off 😬
@MyCruisingFamily4 ай бұрын
@@kokomel23 those are great questions! It was very easy getting an appointment with Dickey himself. On the Hair Rules website, you can select who you want to do your hair. You will see all his availability, and hopefully, there’ll be a time that works for you. About him being “scissor happy”… it’s hard for me to say because my hair was already short walking in since I’d just big chopped. I know that may kinda make it seem like he’s “scissor happy” since he still gave me a haircut, but in all honestly, his cut added a better shape to my hair that fit my face better than what I walked in with, so I didn’t think it was excessive. Hope you get your appointment with Dickey and a fabulous shape/style! ☺️

Thanks for making the effort to share this visit! Great video! So what do you in the morning in winter, with wet hair, going outside?
@MyCruisingFamily7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Thankfully, the winter wasn't as cold as it could have been this year. Honestly, my hair was sometimes damp leaving the house initially because I would use a hooded dryer for a while, but I didn't have enough time to fully dry it in the mornings before work. I eventually bought a diffuser, and it does a great job drying my hair faster than the hooded dryer. I also started washing at night and just refreshing in the morning, to allow my hair to dry the night before. So, basically, I've tried different things to figure out what works best for me.

Just now seeing your video. Would love to know if you’re still doing this wash and go style and do like it and does it really work for your hair?
@MyCruisingFamily5 ай бұрын
@@juanitarobertson306 I love this wash and go style, and yes, I definitely think the frequency of washing works for my hair. From December (the time of the appointment in this video) to March, I did this wash and go styling frequently… sometimes I skipped a couple days, for example, when I was under the weather, but in general, I did it every day to every other day. When I went to get my seasonal trim, there was lots of hair growth, and my trim was more of a dusting of the ends because my hair was very healthy. I have since put my hair in protective styles a number of times because of some very busy trips I’ve been taking… but even then, I usually have a couple weeks of letting my natural hair breathe in between… and when not in a protective style, yes, I am doing this wash and go method. Thanks for watching, and thanks for your questions! ❤️

yeah but what Dickey don't tell you is all that water makes your hair grow like a weed. When you thick hair like mine length is not always your friend. I just don't have enough hours in the day anymore. So I pretty much leave it in cornrows.
@MyCruisingFamily4 ай бұрын
@@ourblazingworld that’s so real! Love that you have long thick hair! He actually did say to me that this method consistently would have my hair growing quickly ‘cause I truly missed my hair length after big chopping, after having long hair since I was a child. Thing is… I’ve mixed the Dickey method with protective styling/faux locs… but even with that, my hair has been growing pretty fast. Hey, he says if you want something to grow, you water it! 💦
