Anthony Hopkins WILL WIN the Best Actor Oscar for The Father!

There shouldn't be any questions about his win! He deserved the win, period! Greatest of all time! Once a legend always a legend. Sir Anthony Hopkins. All time favourite, an absolute maestro! What an artist!! I am a fan of all his works and this time the father just blew my mind! My goodness, it broke my heart, it was gut-wrenching and extremely emotional. After a long while, a performance moved me to the core!! If an actor can does that to their audience, I'd say that's it!! That's a stellar and outstanding performance right there. Frankly, Sir Hopkins doesn't require any comparisons and competitons! He is a league of his own!! He can't be touched, his performance was on another level. And congratulations to all the supremely talented nominees, especially Riz Ahmed! And my heart goes out for the Boseman family!

Does Chadwick deserve the Oscar? Of course he does!. Does he deserve it more than Anthony Hopkins? NO. Anthony Hopkins performance towers above all his other fellow- nominees. The only one who comes close is Riz Ahmed. This is why people are saying Chadwick is only winning because is dead. I have seen all nominated movies. In The Father Hopkins makes you afraid, laugh and ugly cry. It is one of if not the greatest performances of all time if you really consider what "acting" means. The performance is so unbelievably real and amazing and undeniably heartbreaking . Chadwick's performance, with no disrespect of course, is great but it is just not on par with Anthony's its almost not even subjective now. Unless one would have biased reasons (creed, class, culture, race) Im not judging anyone of course. But if you really think about the best PERFORMANCE by an actor in a leading role - Hopkins deserves it in every sense of the word more than any of his fellow nominees.

Uh, you do know he played Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs and won his first Oscar for that iconic role and film, right?

@@maninu.s.8139 Yes I do. What I meant was win an Oscar for a movie and a role that's the total opposite of "The Silence of the Lambs", which is basically a horror movie and Hannibal Lecter who is basically a human version of Satan. And I am very happy he finally did for "The Father".

What a great performance. I know we all want to see Chadwick Win the Oscar. He deserved the nomination for His role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. I though he won't have no competition during this Award Season but When I saw The Father and Sound of Metal.... Man, that was something. Riz Ahmed and Anthony Hopkins deserved to Win this year. About Chadwick, I think this is an ocacion when The Academy should give an Honorary Oscar award to Chadwick Boseman for all this career in motion picture industry. Just like they did to Audrey Hepburn when she passed away in 1993 or Henry Fonda just before he passed back in 1982.

Intense performance. Arguably his best. The ending is incredible and disturbing. Unfortunately the Academy doesn't decide based on performance. They'll take the PC route.

Really thought with his passing, and Hopkins not being Oscarless, that they were going to give the edge between two amazing performances to Boseman. Hopkins totally deserved it, but it's a bit bitter sweet, as it was Boseman's finest hour and he'll never get another chance.

It's about the performance though. Both gave great performances and the best man won. Hopkins is the OLDEST best actor winner. He may never have another chance either. But again, just because you've passed away doesn't mean you automatically deserve an Oscar. James Dean was nominated two different years, and was dead both times. He lost. He is one of Hollywood's biggest legends. Glenn Close lost her 8th Oscar last night. Should she have won because she was due? Or for her Hillbilly role, which was laughably bad. Im glad the Grandmother from Minari won. Also if you act desperate in Hollywood like you REALLY want the Oscar, or like you have it in the bag- you will lose. Just ask Sylvester Stallone. Its sad Chadwick passed away, and also great he was recognized for his great work in a divided film. I enjoyed it, but many of the offended "Twitter" people haven't even screened it because it would be too eclectic for them. They don't even know who August Wilson is. They just want to complain about the academy being racist. It's too bad. Again, even Frances McDormand- who did NOT campaign- proved you don't have to throw it in people's faces that you deserve the gold in order to be handed a trophy. She won because voters liked her the most. Also she WAS Nomadland- and her film won best picture. But have the complainers seen these performances? Some of them, sure. But many have not. That's why I made this video. To SHOW people how great Hopkins really is, and that he didn't just win because he's "British". That's so insulting. Not saying YOU are saying that. But Ive heard it many a time this year.

Oh no problem friend! Chad is taking it and him and Viola Davis were AMAZING. I just wanted to do this little tribute, and yes I do think Anthony deserves it a slight notch above everyone else. But thats OK. I like discussing film with others like yourself because everyone has unique takes on what they see in acting and storytelling.
