I don't like to speak bad about him because he's worked hard and achieved a lot but I can't help but feel that AJ is looking extremely feminine lately and he makes me cringe at times. All these motivational talks and knuckle bumping everyone he sees, always humble and smiling. He enters the ring looking like he's arrived for manicure appointment.... hugging and kissing fans etc.... he doesn't look intimidating to his aponents, doesn't look focused or ready for the task ahead of him. The last time I seen fire in him is when he put Dominic Breazeale in his place.... that douche really irritated him before the fight and you could see he wanted to knock him out and did a decent job of it in the ring. I don't know whats happened with him... If he can't snap out of this I think he shouldn't continue fighting... Im sure he'll be successful whatever he has ago at but i don't see a fight in him with this personality. Did you see his reaction to the fury fight? Looking like a boy band teenager rapping along to a hip hop song??? WTF is all that about? Honestly, I won't be surprised if he enters the usyk fight with rainbow flag shorts and gloves at this rate... he needs to check himself and get with the program or get out while he's still ahead. I would really like to see him come back and beat usyk and fight fury or whyte but I don't feel optimistic. AJ is capable but its almost like he's choosing to stay on the wrong path. time will tell.
@kosiregis3 жыл бұрын
I agree with him not being intimidating to his opponents, but I think instead of feminine the better adjective would be civilized. There’s nothing wrong with being humble and being an ambassador for the sport, but there comes a time where you’ve got to stop being friends with your opponent.
@marshalljames20443 жыл бұрын
@@kosiregis he looks feminine to me mate.... Like he should be doing fragrance commercials or something. He's getting paid millions to turn up to fight and coming all happy happy smiley smiley knucklebumping everyone he sees.... his aponents be looking at thinking Im going smoke this clown. If he focused on what he's getting paid to do and stare at his aponent like he's ready to rip his face off this can physiologically beat people before the bell rings. I'm not saying he has to be a dick but just lay some authorities down and let people know he there to do a job and he's ready for it. TV interviews outside of fight contracts is probably the time to show he's a humble guy if that's what he cares about. He wasn't like this with whyte and breazille and went in there and smashed em up.... now he wants to fight without anyone getting hurt... feminine mate.

Joshua as written off as he is right now he is going to win his rematch..... he's not an idiot he knows why he lost to usyk by now.... finally i think Joshua has out grown MaCkrecken that is clear to everybody...but to insinuate Joshua is psychologically weak just because he lost that's nonsense

The moment AJ became super-rich, his hunger for boxing dipped and he started seeing boxing in another light. He started being afraid to get hit, and in the process, he is hesitant pulling the trigger. Everything he does these days in the boxing arena is with caution. How a boxer with the weight, height and physical advantage be too defensive to attack a smaller opponent? You can't win a boxing match with that kind of attitude. He has completely lost the "Naija no dey carry last" spirit. Today, AJ has a better chance at winning a Netball tournament than winning a boxing match.

An observation. I believe he has a deeply rooted anxiety issue. Largely observable on the stool during moments of adversity. At times, he's in full blown fight or flight mode. His body language on the night of Ruiz 1 stuck out to me like an air raid siren. He is in a fight, so this level of hyper arousal is obviously normal, what's not normal, is his inability to regulate the anxiety and that he's unaware or in denial of the issue. He's tried to ignore it and the corner would appear to exacerbate the problem when it happens. In the Ruiz fights to a degree but more so against Usyk, he was gun shy, pulled the shots he threw and was just way too reactionary. This is all due to a fear of experiencing the anxiety again, perversely this fear almost guarantees a repeat and eventually a cycle, eating away at his confidence in himself to perform. He's got to look in the mirror and be real about the situation.
@lisabrightly3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Also, it's almost like fear *of* fear isn't it? It does feed on itself. I also feel like theres a deep fear of being humiliated again like what happened with Ruiz. NOT fear of losing but something else...I can't place it...these observations are obviously from a distance, it's just my instincts getting triggered. Either way, I do relate to him I think his anxiety brings him back down to earth. He's just a man with deep flaws, which is ok.

AJ said he had to become "uncivilised" and "like an animal" in the weeks before the Pulev fight. AJ recognised that he needed this, he knew Pulev was really determined to beat him. I believe so too. Sometimes it's as simple as just needing to hear a different voice and be in a different environment because things can become a bit stale. But his main trainer did a lot to help get him outta trouble so common sense says he feels obliged to stay loyal to him for everything he did to help him. I think if circumstances were different Joshua would change trainers, but if he did so a lot of people in the Sport behind the scenes would look down on him and lose respect for him. So he's in a bit of a quagmire right now
