I actually watched an interview with Simone Ashley and she explained that since Kate is very good with animals, case in point, Newton and horses, she's very good at taming animals and humans and keeping them calm hence it made sense how she was able to calm Anthony down when he was having a panic attack and how she was able to calm Edwina when she was crying because Anthony failed to propose

That helped them both get closer to each other (emotionally more than physically), Anthony found someone who understood him, didn't mock his fears and calmed him down, and Kate found that Anthony was a good and caring man in his heart, and suitable husband(for her sister at the time).

The way that Kate was with Anthony says so much about who she is as a person and how she already cares about Anthony. She was upset with him but her tone with Anthony changed immediately once she realized something was wrong in how he was acting. She didn’t need any explanation, her anger was gone right away and she saw that he was in trouble. She put his hand on her chest, without a second thought about how inappropriate it was to do that during this time, and did the same with her hand on his - she was so incredibly tender. This scene is so beautiful

The subtle shifts in both their expressions, I can - and I have - watch it over and over. Masterclass. It just gets you right in the chest. Anthony's double take to dawning and subtle realization to worry to panic. Kate's dismissive, almost amused bewilderment to sharper dismissal and then annoyance to quick realization and concern, then taking charge in a soothing way. Like, you can see each beat. Yet it's so seamless. Whew.

The diversity of emotions and expressions they both showed in this scene are immaculate. This scene in the book is really amazing, but I prefer the show's because it didn't result in their forced marriage, and instead we got to see them falling in love equally and their marriage was the fruit of their love not 'forced'. Jonathan Bailey has to win an award for his unmatched acting in season 2, he'd unbelievable.

No but feeling the heartbeat is an excellent and very effective method to calm someone down, I occasionally suffer from panic attacks and that's exactly what I do, I place my hand on my chest so I can feel my heartbeat and it works everytime. I can't explain why but it has saved me in numerous occasions

it's the fact that anthony always had to handle everything and he finally can breakdown too and have someone who instinctively knows what he needs in that moment. The range of emotions of both actors makes it so real. Dare I say this one scene tops all the scenes in Bridgerton season 1, and that's hard as hell to do. Like damn. What I love most about this scene is that kate has no damn clue what is going on. We have context into his father's death, but she, in the midst of irritation and lack of knowledge of the situation she took charge and was able to give him care. Edwina is cool, but she would not be able to connect with him in this way at all.

Its in the brief moments that bring people unexpectedly on the edge of life and death, when the only thing fundamental reveals itself, this scene beatifully portrayed such moment. His nonverbal yelling of "just dont die. You can be anywhere, be with anyone. Just dont die." Is a masterpiece. This feels like unconditional love to me.

I haven't seen anyone else mention the first part of the scene so I will now. Before the bee sting I think Anthony is being honest with Kate about why he didn't declare himself to Edwina. He obviously feels comfortable enough with Kate to honestly state his reason's why. To me that shows he already knows deep down how he feels about Kate and couldn't bring himself to propose to Edwina in front of everyone like that. But Kate just totally brush's off what Anthony is saying about his feelings and starts to lay into him instead. Then a minute later the Bee happens and there is NO going back for either of them.

I have two favourite scenes in this season: This one and the one where Anthony's mother tells him that Kate has woken up after her riding accident. Of course, there are other beautiful scenes. But in these ones, we witness Anthony, who is always trying to remain in control of himself, losing this control. In both scenes, Anthony's reaction is so realistic that it put tears in my eyes while watching them for the first time. Here, he has a proper panic attack, not only because he fears for Kate's life, but also because he is reliving the extremely traumatic scene he had with his father, an overwhelming combination. But especially in the second scene, I was truly crying because his reaction was so relatable and authentic. He had been tense and fearing for Kate to die for days - all the time trying to bury himself into family business so he wouldn't have to think about the worst case scenario. And then, when his mother tells him she is okay, all this tension breaks him down because he is so relieved. I honestly sat there and was just grateful for his mother to be so supportive.

When you really think about it, this might be the first time that somebody's comforted Anthony since his dad died. Violet pushed him away, his workers never gave him a chance to grieve by reminding him that he was a viscount, and he just buried himself into his work. Kate calming him down like this is probably the first time anybody ever tried to comfort his PTSD.
