Graeme O'Neil takes a look at Anthony Mackie's response to the "outrage" surrounding his comment that Captain America's attributes are more universal and dont just represent America.

The same people freaking out about this will call other's "Snowflakes" mind you. This was completely blown out of proportion. Chris Evans said the same thing which is basically Captain America is just a name, it means something beyond just "America". Every single "content creator" who freaked out about this are either dishonest or are far too lost in the toxic political climate.

He's right btw edit: captain america has been shown to go against the america system mutiple times. He fights for the people not america.

People are choosing to completely ignore the events of Civil War and Winter Soldier Yet alone the first Cap film where Steven Rogers just wants to fight bullies. He didn't even pick his name. All that these actors are trying to say is Captain America represents more than just America. It's always been that way in the MCU.

@@BoardWalkToke I think 'fighting bullies' is part of the 'American ideals' they're talking about though. British, then north v south, the vs the Nzis, etc. it's actually the ideal that they're using as a disguise for all of their foreign exploits. It's unpatriotic to question why we have 1000 military bases because we're 'fighting bullies'. 'Standing up for the little guy' is an American thing and a cap amer thing.

The people ARE America, dummy. You mean he's not for the US government.

@@Caligula_In_Hell what do you think the American system means? The American government.

@@Caligula_In_Hell and even then there's been multiple scenarios where Cap is defending other countries. It's not just America he defends.

I'm not bothered by his response. Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie can give their option. It's a comic book character, not a real United States Of America government official title. 😅

Too late Captain Stickboy!!! No amount of apologies or editing will take back what you said.

To me it sounds like his response was shown out of context as well as a classic case of this sounded better in my head. His word choice set himself up for failure

Seems everybody’s getting more and more nit-picky. Nobody can see the product at face value before ripping it apart for things that may or may not have any relevance whatsoever to the film and its message. Only the selfish, self centered person lives like that.

Maaaaaybe don't say Captain America should represent AMERICA if you don't want Americans to get fired up above it. The fact that him saying that doesn't bother you says more about you than it does anyone who is bothered by it. You further make my point when you show the clip of the highlight reel having edited his bone-headed answer out of it.

Anthony Mackie seems pretty racist in interviews sometimes. Not sure Id want him representing anything. Sam as Cap in the comics was good, but I think Mackie isnt the best guy for the role by his behavior sometimes.
