She was a very nice sweet beautiful woman and person, she was crazy about him (how I understand her!) I love when she said "my tape was a joke" lol when she was interviewing him the first time for Warhol's magazine! Tony was a adorable, charming, incredibly handsome, intelligent and so talented, I don't care about his secret private life, he was so much more than that!!

So tragically sad losing probably the most electrifying celebrity couple of all time. Kinda eerie too. Tony died on his mother's birthday and Berry died on September 11, a day before the 9th anniversary of Tony's passing. It's sorta like the Iron Man of Baseball dying of Lou Gehrig's Disease. Or if Bill Murray was to kick the bucket on Groundhog Day.

Before when they were just boyfriend and girlfriend she knew he was gay because he told her, but in the old days a person or even a well known actor had to keep that personal or else it was the end of there careers. Anthony’s wife Berry said in an interview two days after his death that she didn’t know how he got AIDS because she didn’t want to embarrass herself and his two sons and put a bad image on him and his family. I’m not going to criticize anyone who is gay or bisexual but to be honest with people, a persons illness or sexuality should be kept personal to themselves, the whole world shouldn’t know your personal life. That’s how I see it. Anyways God bless Tony & Berry and his family.

Tony Perkins said of his wedding day to Berenson "All the time I wanted to kill myself," and "My life had come to a stop.... I wanted to walk into the ocean and dive to the bottom." So sad! I think he knew on a fundamental level that this false heterosexual image that he was clinging to was going to end up crushing him one way or another. A lot of gay men had ended the same way. It's a crying shame he wasn't born in a time where he could have enjoyed gay self-esteem.
@robertprewitt5397
@robertprewitt5397 3 жыл бұрын
He had been seeing a trendy Hollywood shrink [Mildren Newman] for several years, who basically performed gay conversion therapy on him. His long time friend, Paul Jasmin said, 'her purpose in life was to change his sexuality.' Whenever he went to see her they would get into such heated arguments and during one session she had asked him to fantasize about making love to a woman which caused him to break down in tears. She was relentless. Convinced him his sexuality was the root of all his unhappiness and the only way he could be happy was to be heterosexual. Later she would laud him as one of her "success" story.

@Robert Prewitt, That's pretty despairing, but what can be said, it was the case for many gay men back then to end up in such a futile position in life. I think his break up with Grover Dale really devastated him.

Tell mama Tell mama ALL, Yeah, he confessed to one of his lovers how cut up he was over Dale, and how desperately lonely he had become. It's a shame they didn't stay together. @Robert Prewitt, I like how supportive Nancy Walker was of Tony's relationship with Grover. She was appalled when he and Grover decided to try at playing it straight. A lot of people who knew them both didn't think it was necessary for them to go down that path.

I lived as a homosexual for 15 years. I gave it up and married a woman 16 years ago. It is easier than you think. I told her everything and she didn't care so we were soon engaged. We have a thirteen year old girl and a ten year old boy. My wife and kids are everything to me. I almost missed out on that. No, I am not cured. But I am faithful to my wife and we have a rich life together. I think I make a pretty good husband and father. I bet Anthony Perkin's sons are grateful he gave them a chance to exist.

It’s true that that horrible psychiatrist tried to convert him to become straight, but it’s also true that Tony was actually a latent bisexual, he discovered he was attracted to women as well as men, and that’s fine. Gay men don’t sleep with women nor are we interested in marrying them. This myth needs to end.

He admitted that he'd never even been with a girl until he was 40 years old. He'd only ever been with men. His first experience was with a man and all of his experience afterwards were with men until, at 40, he was finally seduced by Victoria Principal. Then, he suddenly realized that he liked women, too, LOL. Later, he married this woman, and had two sons with her. But, obviously, he still fooled about some, because he ended up with AIDS and his wife did not. She later perished in one of the planes on 9/11, unfortunately, one day shy of the 9th anniversary of his death.
