Dr. Anthony Waterman explains how he whistles two notes simultaneously. His inspiration to try whistling two notes came from hearing delivery boys in England when he was a boy in the 1930's.

This is so cool. I tried whistling for years growing up and when I did at last manage to, at age 10, I was able to whistle breathing in and out and am better than everyone in my family hitting the highest and loudest notes, like a whistling tea kettle. Ever whistler hater I ever met, those who report whistlers to their bosses to get them written up for causing a distraction, none of them have been able to whistle themselves. Apparently, learning how to whistle makes you not a jealous miserable wretch. Time to learn some new skill to drive the whistler haters angry.

I prefer forming my lips to whistle, but then humming a note instead of just blowing air. It makes a very pleasing tone and with just a bit of practice, it's quite easy to control both pitches independently.
@HarriW6 жыл бұрын
hum/whistle is so easy to me but I've never been able to change the note I hum at, is there a natural resting note for your hum or have I just got to relearn to habit? Does yours sound like a train horn too?
@wellshoot5 жыл бұрын
Scuffed Lozenge you need to adjust your whistle note if you change your hum note or else it goes out of pitch. And my whistle sounds really weird too, it’s not a nice clear whistle but a sort of vibrato whistle I guess
@soylentgreenb5 жыл бұрын
It’s a little bit like FM synthesis. If the whistling is much louder than the humming(which implies much lower frequency) it sounds like a weird timbre, not as two tones.

Thats similar as how u do it when singing two notes at the same time. I mean techniqe us different but when u sing, u shift between two notes back and forward and when u hit the sweey spot your vocal chords produce one note and another note then is produced in the mouth indirectly.

Did you watch both videos? On one of them, he tries to explain it. Anthony Waterman is my father in law. I think he explained it the best he could about how he moves his tongue between the two note position. I can't do it. His daughter is a good whistler and she can't do it.
