The real scary crashes aren't the ones where the cars tumble and fly apart, because that is the energy of the impact being absorbed and dissipated by the car. The real scary ones are where the cars hit a wall hard and come to a quick stop, because that energy is going through the driver

Not to mention you’re going over 200 into turn one and have to make a he’d left so if anything breaks you’re going straight in the wall, and yes Watkins glen was a bad one before safety innovations and still is. Nascar created the problems at Daytona and Talladega with restrictor plates and the yellow line rule is also ridiculous.

Was there any big wrecks this year????
@fredleggett9237 ай бұрын
Do these guys undergo any "crash training"? For example, if you're in a pileup, but can still drive, are you told to go to the infield ASAP to get off the raceway? And if they're involved in a pit maneuver, is there anything the driver can do to reduce his speed and try to get out of the situation?
@HPayne625 ай бұрын
NASCAR's had a policy since 2017 that if you're in a wreck, you have to take your car down pit road and get the damage repaired to NASCAR's satisfaction and then make a lap at minimum speed within a time limit. Before then you could kind of just do whatever you want as long as you weren't dropping debris or fluids all over the track and you could still make minimum speed. Car control is something you do learn but it's not like you're trying to do it in the event that somebody just pops you in the rear and spins you out. You can countersteer and mess with a throttle while you want, once you're going around in the front of the pack you're going around.
