Buddy it's all nascar fans and drivers. The golden rule is... When I do it it was ok because reasons When it's done to me, it's the dirtiest move ever and thare is no excuse for it. Thare are 1000s of examples of a driver getting in to a nother driver and no body cares but when that driver gets him back it's the dirtiest move ever and uncalled for. Usually with nascar fans who is right an who is wrong in a altercation is who ever has the bigger louder fan base. Hypothetical example, say chase Eliot dumps cory lajoy for no reason other than cory was holding him up. The majority of the fans don't like cory and love chase so that's not dirty. Now say cory the next week dumps chase back. Well that would be the dirtiest move ever and cory is a clown. A nother example would be say popular driver puts his car in a tight 3 wide battle making it 4 wide and then they all crash. We'll that is just hard racing, now unpopular not as well liked driver dose same thing. Well then that same 4 wide move is stupid and dangerous and that driver needs to be suspended. Long story short nascar works like real life with a Unwritten hierarchy and if you're high enough in a hierarchy, you can do whatever you want and the fans will make excuses for why it was okay. And if you're not high enough up in the fan hierarchy you better just get out of the way of the popular guys.

In all the rest of the world of motorsport the edict says if you arnt already to there door by the braking zone then you have to lift so they can have room to get the apex. I thank that's stupid but I come from a stock car background. I'm sure if I was a f1 or indy car or sports car fan first then I would see it there way. If it was the FIA or even iracing Montoya would have Received a penalty. Again I thank that's stupid. And as far as I'm concerned if I have a inch in thare you need to treat it like 5 foot. NASCAR tacitly greenlighting all of these public altercations does not make the sport look “cool and tough” like they think it does. Guys with dream jobs getting paid millions acting like kids on the playground and each talking about “being a man” is a very wussified look. It’s one thing when tempers boil over, like Cale vs. the Allison Brothers in 79 or even Gordon v. Burton here - not necessarily “in front of cameras” like a guy being interviewed, but just a consequence of passions in a sport where lives are on the line. But these guys waiting around to act tough is lame and unprofessional and in the past, NASCAR would have dropped heavy sanctions for it - Cale and them were fined heavily for fighting. In the days when getting wrecked just might kill a guy, drivers had to be more careful and NASCAR had to discourage conflicts. Now guys are obvious about things, whine about it and act tough on camera, and just love to toss around “being a man” and having honor or whatever, then they’ll go do some nonsense the next week. Being a man is accepting that things happen, mistakes can be made, conflicts should be settled in private, and recognizing that success is the best revenge.
