Pickup trucks are asked a lot to do now a days. They're expected to ride nice unloaded, go offroad and still be able to do payload and towing duty. Half ton trucks are typically sprung a little more soft to deliver better ride unladen which may lead to a little more squat when loading up the suspension, especially on levelled trucks. In this video we show the loading characteristics of a truck equipped with helper springs vs a stock truck.

Roadmaster Active Suspension with Timbrens. End of any load or empty ride problems! No maintenance ever! Easy install.

Agreed, Thanks for the video! After years with an air bag, (great ride loaded, horrible empty. Even with just 5lbs. air). Always deflating and filling(what a pain). The Roadmaster was put on because the Timbrens were coming in contact with a light load, (hard ride). Gave it a bigger space and even better ride than stock!

I really do. I think the Roadmaster Active Suspension with Timbrens is one of the best overall combinations you can put together. I would just match it with factory spec leafs to keep the ride smooth unloaded.

Hey guys. Can someone if this is purely cosmetic? Or does it help in any way? I'm having an issue. I got a tacoma..but realized payload is really low...is there any way to increase it?
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 3 жыл бұрын
You can't increase the vehicle's rated payload. You can only add products like this to handle the payload rating better.
@blakeberlin6295
@blakeberlin6295 3 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyJ350 That's the official response, but I will suggest different phrasing. These suspension improvements do increase the safety factor and handling when pushing beyond stated payload limits. I'm a Tacoma owner. I don't way overload, but it is impossible to avoid overloads at times. I reduce speeds and rely on Sumo springs and a weight distribution hitch for my camper trailer. I stay well within the towing limit, but go over the payload limit.
@AM-hf9kk

I just picked up a Hellwig EX980 helper leaf for my 2007 Tacoma but haven't installed them yet. Even with the recall springs the poor truck sags as bad as the Frontier in this video when it's loaded. I don't feel that a 1/2 yd of topsoil, or 800 lb of concrete, or a dozen cinderblock is too much to ask of this little truck. It's deep into the bump stops and handles like shit with that load, even though the bed, frame, engine, and brakes have ZERO issues. The Tacoma handles a 500 lb sportbike and gear without hitting the bump stops, but the payload rating is roughly 1,600 lb. It SHOULD be able to haul 800-1,000 lb in the bed even with my 200 lb ass and a 150 lb bed box and a 50 lb toolbox. The helpers should help with that.

RAS or airbags? What's your take?
@AnthonyJ350
@AnthonyJ350 2 жыл бұрын
I would do both. The Roadmaster will act as a traction bar, sway bar and helper springs all in one. If you need extra help with the weight, you can add air to your system fine tuning it. I would install a system with an onboard compressor. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZm9gaV_q5KJjMU

Interesting video, I know that when I added a extra leaf spring to my old 1500, it got about 2in taller but when I max loaded both my silverado and my stock f150 with dirt, the silverado was visibly much lower than the f150. Granted the silverado was a 6.5ft bed and the f150 a 5.5, so maybe there was a 100lb difference between the trucks. I'm considering beefing up the f150 suspension, especially since im gonna need to replace the factory stocks in about a year or so.

@@AM-hf9kk most of us who haul firewood get as much as we reasonably can in one trip. One layer ain't gonna cut it either. I routinely haul with a graveyard hump of oak rounds on my 2016 f150. It squats alot with the firewood and when I tow our 5k lb travel trailer. The timbrens would help alot in our situation.
