I think that it’s important to point out, that “Camera Matching” profiles are also created by Adobe in order to emulate the respective camera brand’s picture settings. Therefore, chosing, say “Landscape” picture style in the Nikon camera, does not give you a 1:1 representation in Lightroom, but a proxy.

Thanks to you I only now noticed that in the Profile Browser you just need to hover the profile to get a preview (unlike having to to click it in the regular panel). Personally, I like to use my camera Linear profile (in my case a Nikon D850) as a starting point. It gives you much more flexibility. Thank you, Anthony for yet another illuminating video.

As always, excellent presentation and instruction. One possible add to this video (unless I missed it in there?) - in Preferences / Presets / Global there is the option to change the default Profile. Personally, I prefer "Camera Settings" (as opposed to Adobe Default) so as to open a new RAW image in the camera profile I have chosen when shooting. I can tinker from there.

I now use the profiles from cobalt-image. It does a great job of matching the colors between my Sony a1 and my Canon R5. (You still have to make sure both white balances are correct tho. )

Hi Anthony: Enjoyable video. Do you have any thoughts about using Linear Profiles for the combination of cameras and lens, as a starting point for editing? I am finding that using the Linear Profile gives me a more truthful starting point. Cheers, Keith

Excellent explication regarding profiles and presets. I usually add a profile, then continue on with my edits. If I’m not mistaken I think I purchased one of your profile packs some time ago. I’ll have to double check. I know you’ll understand when I tell ya that since I play guitar in a band and recently begun writing and composing ambient drone guitar music, the time I spend on my professional hobbyist photography has decreased significantly. However, I still make time to shoot weddings with a friend because they pay well! 😎

Good refresher, thanks. I use an import preset that invokes a desired profile (usually camera standard) along with some metadata like copyright. Depending on scene, I will have a different profile that is applied on import and that gives me that good starting point as you suggest.

Thanks - I just swapped my the profile in my import preset from Adobe Standard to Camera Standard profile for images taken on my Nikon Z9 and am experimenting to see the impact. I see many presets for sale for my photography, but not profiles. If you developed AND sold profiles specifically for Wildlife -- specifically Furry with Teeth and Claws or Birds I would look harder at downloads.

Hello Anthony, long time follower! I recently purchased your Lightroom profiles but cannot get them to import into lightroom, desktop version. I get a pop-up that seems to indicate that the profiles were not there? The meeasge that comes up indicates no items to be imported. Please advise.

Thanks for another great clearly explained video. I've found the default Adobe Colour profile can result in some quite big colour shifts, which had me puzzled for a while. The out of camera jpegs were very accurate, so I switched to using the Camera Standard or Camera Neutral profiles which I find give a better result.

We use Sony A9 and Canon ( R5 & occasionally Eos5D3 ) and I would like to try find an easy solution to match the RAW files. As a long time Canon user I prefer Canon, although I wouldn't mind a little muted, if it had to be. I was looking at the possibly of profiles, being a nr. simple way forward. A profile for the Canon and/or a profile for the Sony at induction into Lightroom, but with a similar result. We use various lenses mostly Sigma art on the Canon and generic Sony on the A9 but I can't see that being more than minor tweaking at edit.
