16 min in and I’m heavily triggered. 😩 Whew! Those PK/father/mother wounds are no joke. So thankful he’s still here to not only tell his story, but liberate so many others. And how clever & strategic is God in gifting him with the same call as his father - to counsel & shepherd. 🙌🏾 God truly works all things together for our good & His glory. ❤️🙏🏾

I’m going to keep it all the way 💯+ I had a face full of tears only like 20 minutes into this interview. To hear this man speak of some of the same pain I’ve dealt with, touched my soul to the point I know I MUST go see a therapist for the first time ever very soon. Thank you AO & Jay this episode blessed me 🙏🏾

Jay on here holding a deliverance service! THIS is what we need to heal the culture. Broken parental bonds, divorce, identity complex, pent up emotional wounds, S attempts, vulnerability, that hurt inner kid, relationship blackmail, therapy, public humiliation, etc. Yeah, we need a Part 2. This episode is like disinfectant for that bruise that won’t heal.

My husband is black. I've been his "therapist" through our entire marriage. I had no idea that I was marrying a man that was truly emotionally broken. NO IDEA. The challenges I've had to endure with him, I don't think others would have survived. We've searched for therapists for years, and none of them would work after 5pm (when he would get off work). We also need to talk about access to mental health. Many of these therapists don't accept insurance at all. You have to pay them around $75.00-150.00 PER VISIT. Many don't have hours after 5pm, making it challenging when people have a full time job they can't call out of for therapy. Also. You can't tell your employer you have to be at a therapist meeting, or else they will either think of firing you, or hold it against you somehow. Which makes explaining why you need scheduled "time off" on a weekly or biweekly basis, very hard. Some men (and women) mental condition requires weekly sessions. Employers frown upon that, making getting adequate, timely help, incredibly hard.

Hello Naomi 👋🏾! It can be definitely frustrating, however, don't despair. I believe he mentioned "Better Help" and can possibly locate a therapist that may have the hours/days that suitable. Also, depending what stati you live, they counseling center that may offer free or low cost services. Especially, if you are running into issues that certain insurances are not accepted by most private practice vs agencies that offer counseling. I hope this helps.

This is so deep. It’s so good at unpacking. My hubby and I have both had therapy. I’ve been suicidal, I get you absolutely. And it is a process you’re so right. We’re white but this applies to black and white because we can all identify here. My hubby is a pastor, he had no voice as a kid, neither did I. We weren’t valued. We weren’t encouraged. We were never told good job. This was so great for me as a women to understand a man’s point of view. Thank you for sharing.
