Paul Simon wrote these iconic lyrics and he and Art Garfunkel released it in 1964. It was meant as a protest against society’s disconnect from human interaction in favor of technology. The message holds even more true today in my opinion. We ‘talk’ without speaking…I.e. text; we hear without listening…we don’t converse, we simply jabber at each other without pausing to understand. The lyrics are pure, timeless poetry. Disturbed stepped completely outside their comfort zone and gave us a raw, emotional interpretation of a classic. The frustration, anger, sadness, and eventual hope (represented by the boat crossing the gulf and the sunrise) that people can reconnect and rebuild. If the original was a warning, Disturbed has handed us a wake up call. This will always be one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite groups.

@BenBallard1310 ай бұрын
@@6Haunted-Days it actually was on some level. It was harking to the fact that television was taking over the American home dynamic. This was because tv screens emitted the same sort of glow as neon signs (the neon God THEY made), plus, at that time in US culture, neon signs were on the rise for advertising and consumer culture and were everywhere. The opening line, "Hello darkness, my old friend," came from Simon's time as a boy when he would sing in the bathroom with the lights out. Paul Simon has also said about the original that it means what it means to you, and, that all interpretations of the song are deeply personal to the interpreter.

Allot of people dont know that David was classically vocally trained. His control, and vibrato are absofuqinlootly amazeballs. I have seen them twice live, once when they were just starting out at OzzFest. That was pre 2000 and their debut album the Sickness! I saw them on the side stage and told my sister that they were going to be amazing! Saw them this summer with Breaking Benjamin and Jinjer....what an amazing concert that was!

Nice, that's me and Ozzy!! He used to do a thing called Ozzfest at a local outdoor venue and it was amazing. Would be him either with or without the OG members Black Sabbath and like 15 to 20 other bands! We went every year from 97 to 2008 when Ozzy stopped touring. Go look up that lineup, man I got to see SOOO many bands, many before they hit it big! @@juliehackett1025

The late night show live version is incredible. I prefer reactions to a music videos when available. But there's a few exceptions where the live version is as good or better this being one of them along with *(Freebird)* by *Lynyrd Skynyrd*

Singer David Draemon was classically trained and has an awesome voice. He did this song serious justice. The tribute to the times and words, its a song for the 60s and theb2020s dudes. Its amazing. Simon and Garfunkle were prophets of the Lord. Amen David. Thank you we needed this.
