David Draiman is one of the best voices in modern music. But because so many of Disturbed songs sound similar nobody realizes he has such an angelic voice.

I have a friend who just happened to be in that audience that night. He said that people who were backstage came out to see who was singing. The audience gave the band a 10 minute standing ovation. I believe this performance is one of the top 10 live tv performances of all time. It’s almost unworldly.

The "sick" myth is a lil overblown. He wasn't sick and had no fever. He essentially had a vocal cord injury that required surgery in the end. He had been putting it off because he was afraid the surgery would ruin his singing voice (a legit possibility), but not long after this performance he gave in.

That he performed this beautifully while seated and sick to boot speaks volumes about his training and ability. Being seated always diminishes a part of the breath control, in some singers more than others . I was a rock singer in my youth, and I found it more difficult to sing well while seated. I believe Disturbed was awarded a Grammy for this live performance. Such artistry!

This live version of the song by Disturbed is my favorite of all other versions. Including Disturbed's music video and the original song from back in the day. Obviously, that had to exist for this to exist, so obvious mad props given to the writer or writers of the song. This live version is just so very powerful to me with the orchestra in the back, and honestly, I think the fact that he was sick and losing his voice actually contributed to the growliness of his voice at some points which I think made it sound even better than the music video.

I came across a reaction video the other day and thought “wow other people were just as blown away as I was.” I went down the rabbit hole and started watching all the reaction videos because I loved this man’s voice so much. Then I came across your reaction video. The first reaction video was with the gentleman with the glasses that was so blown away that you didn’t bother to stop the video. I apologize I do not remember his name. I was so moved by how moved he was lol. I just want to say that I loved his reaction, and I love that you kept bringing folks in to see others reactions of this magnificent man’s voice. I am 59 so I am not familiar with disturbed other than hearing my son mention his name. I do believe I did hear Down with the sickness because The start of that song is unforgettable lol. Anyway I digress, as a grandmother of seven I have to say that I am subscribing to you because I love how you handle reactions so professionally. I look forward to hearing more from you.

The original Simon and Garfunkel version was a warning to all about the decay that was happening due to technology, I always believed specifically television. In the 1960's, television went from being an occasional thing to a near constant thing. This version is the 'I told you so, why didn't you listen?' version. The scolding. The anger. Together, they convey an important message.
