Nice reaction as always 👍 Moby sampled this but the original singer is Vera Hall, a black woman who lived in the US in the 1940's. Ren said that this song is very important for him and on IG we saw how he turned the hook on synth and all the process, that was fire ! Thanks 😘

@@gavinwilson2071 I agree, but this is because she was a black woman in that time that she had to suffer so much and experienced racism. This is the reason why she wrote that song, Troubles. And this is why I had to clarified that she was a black woman because it matters 😉

Ren legit did cut a hole in his chest by finding a TV in an alley and kept smashing it. Took a piece from the broken TV with him home to cut a hole in his chest. Line hits hard because it's true. He mentioned that in his "Missing" Chapters on RenMakesStuff.

Im guessing today must be one of those "Is this all there is to my life, having to keep strong & keep going for my kids" you once spoke of. Hang in there AR, it may feel so now but life is never static & people & events can come into your life and things move in a different trajectory. If things can change for Ren, when he was contending with so much, they can for you too. Just keep treading water meanwhile until those life "rafts" come along - you're doing a great job. HOPE 🙏

The bubbly sound is the same sample put through filter and other techniques. There is a short on his channel showing how he did. He also did 8 Video story of his 8 year nightmare. He is doing it as a resource for hope for those who are still in the darkness of illness. He's got 2 collabs Webby and Prof. Next album almost done ..song based, called Slaughterhouse. He could not care less about what others think. He has oceans of creativity waiting to come out. Plus he still wants to do the Netflix series.

Between 2017-18 I was going through a deep depression to which almost led to self-termination, music was my outlet to get me through on a daily basis. The artist that I listened to the most was Chris Cornell, the day he passed that really f'd me up, I thought "if someone like him who had everything couldn't stay, what are my chances?" Fast forward to now, I appreciate Ren bc his music is therapeutic for those struggling.

It’s Vera Hall. He bought the song from the estate. Moby did it as well. Not sure if he added to Moby version or just mixed the original. What’s the benefit of disability it’s irrelevant. He added guitar and his vocals. She grew up in a slave family and and he said he can’t relate to her struggles but the line nobody can judge me but God he can relate too and had a big impact on his life. Disability benefits is what you can’t work, but they give you a fracture of your pay until you’re better unless you’re on permanent disability and then you’re pretty much screwed or basically just above the poverty line. Anyone disabled would give back the little money they get to be healthy. Almost anybody. Of course there are some scammers. Well said about his heart and fan base. He’s a Real one. I guarantee you he tops it. He has a number one album in the UK and will top the billboard charts in the US in the next few years. The man has done this while being sick as a dog and has more talent than anyone I’ve seen since prince. He’s like prince and Lauryn hill had a baby! Anyone who doubts this man is a fool. And that Jordan bulls throwback is FIRE! It’s no coincidence, he’s wearing the greatest NBA players jacket of all time. 6 out of 6 championships with 6 finals MVP. That’s symbolic. And the other jacket Hollywood spit me out! Sony regrets it now dont they?

What would Sony regret? Firstly they had no choice because Ren couldn’t meet his end of the deal so he walked away, and funding a non performing artist from the age of 19 to 33 would make it impossible for them to ever recover those costs, unless REN’s career turns out to have a longevity similar to Tom Jones. ( which actually isn’t as nuts as it might at first sound). There is a moral question because if Sony were funding an incapacitated artist for years, they’ve got a limited budget so that would be depriving another artist or artists of their shot, which would be morally dubious at best.

Listening to this I d bet a pound to a penny that Ren produced this because it’s very much got his musical signature on it. I think the vast majority of reactors fully grasp the depths of REN’s penmanship and his musical creativity but there is a valid argument to be made that of all his talents, maybe his production skills are top trumps. I’m not sure this aspect is so widely understood.

You’re right, with ‘Hi Ren’, Ren popped off on YT and into much of the public consciousness but the fact is he’s an over-night success, who’s been 20 years in the making. His musical career started some 20 plus years ago when he began teaching himself how to produce when he was 12.

With great power comes great responsibility, and Ren is truly a hero! He is using his growing powers and platform for so much more than simply creating brilliant music. Ren has said that he always had this feeling that he was meant to change the world for the better. So much that he defiantly yelled a challenge to evil into an empty room. And then he got sick… Ren has now shared the full story of his health journey in 8 video chapters leading up to the release of this song and what a journey it has been. If anyone hasn’t already watched them, I highly recommend you do. With all the chapters he is showing immense strength in sharing his story that is so hard to tell, being vulnerable and telling it because he hopes it will help others and raise awareness. And here he is with another rendition of that story, now told through music with a fire beat and delivering a message of hope. A beautiful hero that the world needs ❤️🐰🕳️

After having listened to Ren's Chapter Series Intently and multiple times, this track just encapsulates his story so well and serves as musical accompaniment for The Chapters. Ren's experiences are very familiar to me to say the least, as is often the case with many of his supporters. Ren's success is so deserved and I do truly hope it continues. Ren is the medicine many of us need. So raw and vibrant in color, combined with his naturally emotive performance! Indeed Ren....Your Limo has finally arrived. REN- TROUBLES [Intro: Vera Hall] Ooh Lordy, troubles so hard Repeating [Verse] I don't reach into the past very much For these shards of shattered glass and harsh paper cuts Leave me stuck when I reach in memories are seeped in hydrochloric acid I go to war and get passive and freeze up But music helped the ice to thaw Put a chisel in the middle swing the hammer of Thor Pull it out of the impossible, excalibur sword Etching note pads full of reasons why my feelings arе sore The first day that I got sick ejеcted from cockpit of living Nineteen, young teen, waking up bitten Posters up, manhunt, Ren went missing Hard to have faith when the gods don't listen The first year maybe was the hardest Waking in a body that was buried like a carcass Brain in the lions den, body in a shark pit Waking up in pain again, aching, brokenhearted Persistent little bugger I was bouncing from a doctor To a doctor to a doctor like a table tennis game that has no end So be the fate of Ren Every single question answered with a question on the end The second year I came to terms with giving up my dreams Mind was severed from the means that helped me write these rhyme schemes Brain was inflamed. the fatigue was crushing Hard to remain sane with your brain combusting And the third year was murder, living in a purga- Tory full of worry, wouldn't live to be thirty Lifestyle hurt me, always in my bed tomb Re-arrange the alphabet and all the letters spell "doom" Light hurt my eyes, popping pills to survive When you're twenty-three and mentally you steadily decline Twenty-four I was poor, disability benefits What's the benefit of disability? It's irrelevant Twenty-five and the scars that were etched, they cracked Elastic bands only stretch so far and then snap Deep in psychosis, hallucinations, troubled vision Visits from the underworld were conjuring my superstition Twenty-five, living back at home with my mum But not because I'm a bum, alone and physically done So thin, so frail, so weak I'd become And my skin so pale, never kissed by the Sun One time I carved a whole in my chest, just to feel I wish that was a metaphor, the struggle was real When you're living in a holocaust you buckle and kneel There's relief in the teeth of the kiss of cold steel Facts, twenty-six I'm highly medicated and the pain sophisticated While I'm laying broke and naked on my back I brought my microphone into my coffin, started droppin' Raw thoughts with the grim reaper knocking on the track Then man, lo and behold I heard an angel beckon on this treacherous road Was a stem cell doctor with a generous glow And a cell transplant brought me out of the cold And my skin got younger and my body got stronger And my stomach felt hunger for a door that was closed And my soul heard music for the first time Beauty was a word I'd use for this gift of gold Oh Lord, I forgive you, Lord I forgive you Lord, I forgive you, make me whole This music I give you, pain that I live through Everything I've been through is yours to hold

Ren did some pretty fancy stuff with the sample from Vera Hall. The high pitched beats were actually from the sample, tuned up and filtered to create the weird beats. This is unusual for REN’s videos, in that it is not a one-take, but just a series of interesting locations. He’s not trying to be too clever with his words, but rather just tells his story. You’re right, he’s a special person.

@@kuolemanlaakso1696 I genuinely believe this is not an exaggeration. When you scrutinize the linguistic structures and contexts, Ren's work stands shoulder to shoulder with literary greats. Exceptional artistry often defies our temporal expectations, leading to its dismissal. Ren's oeuvre exemplifies contemporary significance and uniqueness. History celebrates such moments, and those who witness them often draw parallels to iconic events like The Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Hendrix's performances, and MJ's moonwalk at the Grammys. I assert that his lyrics are on par with the literary titans mentioned. With musical accompaniment considered, Ren's artistry approaches the stature of Dylan. P.S. I am not alone in this view. The late Sinead O'Connor remarked about Ren and "Hi Ren": "Every song and artist in history, from Willie Dixon to Chuck Berry, The Beatles, NWA, Ice Cube, and even Bob Dylan, is relegated to class B. Likewise, every actor in history, legend, living or dead, male or female, is now defunct." - Sinead O'Connor

the differance between ren and lets say eminem or 50 cent is they are just one genera artists. ren does so much more than one so with such diverse generas he has more wiggle room to have even greater song possible without getting pidgeonholed into bettering just one. imo.
