Secretly listening to the other person's interest its really the key, 4 years ago, a had this girl classmate who was the leader of the class, and had a huge squad of friends, so i wanted to be friends with her too, she was so cool, and as soon as i saw she liked Shawn Mendes, i went " do you like shawn? I like it too!!" And two weeks from there, i was being invited to parties, birthdays, i was part of that big group of friends, and nowadays shes still my bestfriend. :)

It is also a great way to find red flags. People will often be their true self around the friends they are already comfortable with. They will say things they may filter out while talking to you, someone they just met. This way you get to know their true colours before you get too attached. I had this classmate in my master's class with whom I had a really nice, 'deep' conversation once. And that piqued my intetest in him. I started finding him attractive, where I had barely noticed him before. But this one day I was just listening in on him talking with his usual friend group (who were also my classmates) on our way back home from the class in a tram. And I couldn't help but notice that he made a couple of low key homophobic comments (nothing serious or truly offensive, but for someone I'D DATE, that was certainly a dealbreaker for me) and I could retreat before I had to waste any time or energy or emotion and just move on to better things!

What if you don't have good vibes
@Rickyp01233 жыл бұрын
@@gabrielguzman6018 As someone who has struggled with depression, I get your point. It can completely kill your vibe. The trick to overcoming this is coincidentally built into the advice in the video... if you are engaging with your passions and interests, that will naturally bring out your good vibes. Maybe that won't be much at first, but as you engage more and more, and become more comfortable letting your guard down and letting yourself fully enjoy whatever it is you like, the good vibes will come naturally.

I like the mindset of "Don't overthink, think less, do more, have common sense and be kind and happy" The first thing we seem to forget is we are all humans on the same boat but social media, news and other platforms have really painted a new not so healthy reality imo #RelationshipsAreEverything
@AnthonyRecenello4 жыл бұрын
Mathias, I completely agree. Objectifying people is what helps us make money. But if we're gonna get really deep-if we were all "enlightened", I wouldn't be wearing a gold chain and a fancy blue shirt. We'd all be walking around naked without a shred of insecurity. It'd be a different world. So the balancing act of our "egoic lifestyle" mixed with an enlightened headspace can be difficult. But once it finally gets dialed-in, life gets much easier, more satisfying and peaceful.
@Matt_Nor4 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyRecenello I couldn't agree with you more, Anthony. And in todays society, our options are close if not near limitless to how we express ourselves. Whether it is through material, our looks, or personality. As strange as it may sound... i would call it a art. An art to master. Our way of self expression and mastering it to leverage the message we want to send. Not to forget the power and influence we *ALL* possess and carry around. It's about how we choose to use it. Some don't or never realize the potential they have, and some are on the journey exploring it. Discovering it. If it makes sense? Haha! And that's what i really like about your content. Being yourself regardless of who you are, and building your own personal network with beautiful people... without the unnecessity society sometimes force feeds you to believe. Oops?! Hah! I got a bit carried away, haha

Late to this vid but just wanted to say thanks for giving exactly the info us introverts need to hear! As someone with social anxiety I stress a lot about “approaching” people - I feel I often put them on pedestals as I try to “earn” their attention. But this advice was really calming and takes the pressure out of social interactions - you reminded me all my strongest friendships were formed naturally because we had common interests or gravitated toward each other, before I had a chance to say “ok I’m going to go speak to this person” and stress myself out. Just discovered your channel and loving your vids!

You're describing my life! I even jokingly call myself a "meetup junkie" these days. Not saying that to humble-brag - I spent a good 20 years painfully shy, introverted, always feeling distanced from people, talked over, unless in one-on-ones. And through a lot of trial and error, and an explosion of growth in college, public jobs, etc. I got to a point where people assume I'm a raging extrovert. The beautiful thing about Anthony's tactics is that slowly people will start to want to open up to you. Most importantly, take note of what he said: stick to what makes you you. You're just trying to find ways for that to shine a little

Being an introvert isn't the same as being socially awkward. An introvert is someone who has a low social battery. They get tired of hanging out with other people. It's not the same as not being able to talk to other people. It's a common misunderstanding and something I hate. I am introverted, but I am also incredibly social and radiate confidence in the company of others, but I get incredibly overwhelmed by being social. I can only talk to other people for maybe 30 - 60 minutes before I get an headache or anxiety because I'm feeling "trapped". I don't want to be somewhere I have talk without being able to leave when I want to. I hate that feeling. Though no one can tell, because I am the one talking the most and cracking jokes left and right while everyone laughs. Every time I tell someone I hate being social and that am an introvert they get confused and surprised. It's always the same. I have to explain what an introvert really is every time. Only introvert people actually know what it really means to be one. Every one else including this channel thinks it's the same as not being socially competent. EDIT Okay, maybe I misunderstood you. I'm an idiot.
@dahliaherrod43012 жыл бұрын
I understood you perfectly well and happen to agree with you. I've had that same conversation myself with people. I worked retail for years which really pushed any remaining social anxiety out of me. I can last a few hours if given time to prepare before my battery is completely drained then I need at least a day to recover. I've learned to accept this trait about myself and understand it's not some character flaw or personality trait issue. I will say Anthony's advice though is very useful for someone like me who does have a hard time finding like-minded people to befriend and/or date.

Sure it's an out of the box thing to do, but I don't think it helps very much in bar or club situations. In clubs the music is often too loud for you to listen even to your buddy who's talking to you, so listening to others, even people who are close, is often impossible. In bars/pubs, you're in a table, the girl you want to build a relationship with is in another and the indistinct sound of people talking together often makes impossible to hear what some specific person is saying.

@Anthony Recenello: "Introverts Guide"... 1. Go to a place with a lot of people. I despise places with a lot of people. 2. Go find your tribe. I don't have a tribe. I don't like hanging out with multiple people that I do not know. Maybe I am comfortable around 10 or even 20 people that I do know some of but I'd rather have some kind of surgery without anesthesia than to meet more than 2 strangers at the same time. I also do not really want a thousand friends. I want one or two max. Who has time for more? I want a woman who is my best friend to spend a life with maybe. However I do not want to go into some bar, club, or whatever and meet a couple strangers at the same time. I also do not really have a lot of hobbies or interests. I am very introverted normally. I can get really comfortable with people I like and I am up to do nearly anything with these people. However alone I do not even like doing anything at all. Due to the nature of my job I moved to a city where I do not know a single person. My collegues all live in different cities and I have literally not a single person to do anything with here. I forced myself to do stuff alone but i DREAD it. It is literally torture for me. I dread going into a bar alone. I dread meeting a couple of strangers from maybe a sportsclub or something alone....There is not much I am compassionate about. I like shows and movies and some computergames but I really do not want to talk to strangers about these things because while I am interested in watching "game of thrones" I am really not interested to discuss it very much with different people. I would like discussing it with a person that I already know and like but not with strangers. And here is the huge problem. Where do I find "my tribe" when I have literally nothing I enjoy doing with other people for the sake of the sing I do? I enjoy doing pretty much anything with my best friend but I would not enjoy any activity with a stranger. In short:I do not enjoy meeting new people. I DREAD meeting multiple strangers at once. 3. Just "gravitate" to the people that you relate to the most. As mentioned before I do not know if I relate to anyone before I get to know them. I relate to a certain kind of humor, to honesty and to people accepting me even if we have very different views of certain points in life. I do not know if I relate to a person before getting to know them one bit. I don't "relate" to someone just because he likes the same show in netflix or movie or game that I like. 4. I want to you to decide what you are interested in. That is the problem. I am literally not interested in much and the things I am interested in are mostly things I can do alone almost as well as with someone together. I am in my mid 30s now and I have thought about this a lot. I have tried out hobbies and stuff but I really do not find anything. I really am not enjoying asking strangers questions or speaking about the books, shows, movies or games that I like. This might be okay with someone that I already know a bit and like but I would dread starting a conversation over something like that. 5. You say "forcing" conversation is bad. Every single conversation I have with a stranger where I do not have some kind of "mission" (like getting a recipie at the farmacy or the tires in my car changed) feels HELLA FORCED for me. So the things I DO like are pretty nerdy and I'd say the percentage of women in these areas is veryyyyy low. So dragging myself to some kind of computer game or movie convention or meeting or club will result in me being in a room with 95% men. Most of the women there will be there because they are together with one of the men there. I do have literally ZERO interest in meeting any men. I do have zero interest in meeting men to be friends with either. I dread the situation in whole. I like hiking. I enjoy hiking alone a fair bit and hiking with a view people THAT I ALREADY KNOW a bunch. I dread hiking with a group of strangers. I went once with a group of 4 people. I dreaded it 10 minutes in. I thought about jumping off that damn mountain a view times. They were boring as hell, talking about boring shit all day, their humor was not even in the same galaxy than mine and I know after 5 minutes that I do not want to spend another minute of my life with any of these people. Again "Look for events"... I DREAD GOING TO FUCKING EVENTS. Meeting 1 stranger or having a conversation with one person I don't know is lightly stressful. Having a conversation with 2 people is painful, 3 gets dreadful and having to talk to 4 or 5 people with the intend to make a friend or something is pure agony. It is not that I fear people or speaking to them. I speak to small groups of people and give presentations for a living but I have a goal there and they are there to listen to me. It is different. Telling introverts that its "easy" to connect with people in a certain group is like a monkey telling a fish how easy it is to climb a tree. Maybe I am not only introverted, maybe I am on the edge of the spectrum, maybe I am a sociopath. For sure I am really wierd. Meeting people is ALWAYS hard. Meeting new people is VERY HARD!

Hey Anthony, great video! I was wondering how can someone improve their social skills (interaction)? By the way, glad to see some actually good content and talent on youtube besides these bullshit yt pickup artists. Keep it up 🙌

Thanks Rafael. That’s part of my intention. Clean out the scum PUA ok youtube. First of all, you need to be meeting as many new people as possible. I can give you all the advice in the world but the real first advice is go meet 1000 new people and get back to me with your results.

i dunno man i feel like a lot of women resent being approached an events where they are at to have fun, and not be hit asked out on a date. It's great for making friends for but not necessarily for pursuing it further

What if you don't have natural social faculties? sorry but I need a script I need to know what I'm going to say before I say it. After all I am an introvert.
@AnthonyRecenello4 жыл бұрын
You do have natural social facilities. And you do not need a script. And being introverted has nothing to do with this. You might not even be an introvert. What you have is an ego that is protecting you from rejection. You have to acknowledge this before you can grow past it. You are no different than me. It’s now time for you practice meeting new people. There’s no way around it. Having a script will only hurt your progress. 🙏🏻
