Charisma on command is click-baity and inconsistent. He will keep showing you more and more videos about different social tips and different actors and you quickly loose track of what's important to do. I've learned more from this video alone than many of Charlie's videos combined. This is not to say I haven't learned from Charlie's videos, some have been very insightful. The extended depth of discussion (along with metaphors and examples) adds alot. You've also shown to be consistent across all your points, and I have now learned that embracing my true self and building on it is the best way for me to get rid of social anxiety.

TRUE. But there is one another thing that I find extremely problematic about his channel, and that is every now and then championing some political figures, in his case right leaning figures. He can obviously have his own political inclinations, however using his channel to venerate these people while making it seem as though he is JUST trying to show you how to be like them, while confusing persuasion with manipulation and lies just to present it as a people-influencing tool, to me just seem very misleading. A channel really shouldn't forget it's focus, that really isn't what his channel is supposed to be about. And if you are really gonna talk about how to Charismatic-ally tell the audience lies to persuade (manipulate) them so that they don't see through your bullshit, then seriously change your channel's name to something else, like "Using Charisma to bullshit on important topics" or "Charisma over Authenticity and Truth" or "Charisma for telling lies, not to present the truth well so that people will listen".
@jackfromthejungle75384 жыл бұрын
Well, there is no real schedule to follow to be charismatic, is there? I think he just frequently changes perspective on how to give yourself more potential or to fill out your own potential
@TheWasher184 жыл бұрын
@stranger16 We have to remember that even though Charlie and Crew highlight political figures, we are not forced to think that one is better or worse than the other, a politician who is good at something, might be an interesting video to an upcoming politician. Which way they lean and basing whether a channel is good or bad like that is irrelevant in the grand scheme of what we'll call 'communication' In the end, the point is that someone's beliefs do not matter, if they are good at something and someone wants to make a video about what that person is good at doing, it's up to us as viewers to pick up a skill or learn something from the video objectively.

I really like charisma on command's charisma breakdowns, however, when you watch a lot of them you kind of get stuck in a place where you want to be like emila clarke, Chris Evans and Oprah at the same time. What I like about your video's is that you're always telling your audience to stay close to themselves, this is great because you avoid the problem of having too many mentors. Thanks!!!
@Matt_Nor4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you so much, and honestly i feel the same way about "getting stuck in a place" However... This just thought just crossed my mind. Celebrities are definitely role models in the way they portray themselves. But what you really should aspire to and be inspired by, is to look closely and find what makes them so happy underneath it all what is their secret and key to the happiness and confidence they've achieved? In my opinion. The only way to truly become charming and charismatic is when you worry less and simply embrace your own weird personality. Because that is what's attractive, not the act, but the real you. Something we can relate to with another human ("Your own weird, fun and unique self" Those are Recenello's words from another video) which i really like! When you find *your* true nature and what comes naturally and fluently to you is when you unlock the confidence and no longer feel the need to seek validation from the people around you. If you have ever seen the cast of the Avengers, you may have noticed how comfortable and silly they act around each other. One of the reasons i believe is, they embrace and accept each other for who they are as human They also know their intentions are good hearted, and don't expect anything in return other than being treated as a normal human being. Not the least, they love the company of their colleagues I hope this made sense, and didn't come off wrong or anything? Me no experto. I just love the social aspect and the influence we possess. Thanks for reading!

Agree 100%. Anthony seems to cover the mindsets (or "inside to outside" processes) much better. Charlie's vids do often mention these mindsets and vibes, but focus more on the techniques ("outside to inside" processes - in that by using the techniques, one's mindset gradually adopts them). The two are complementary - one needs both to effectively develop charm/charisma.

What I love about Anthony's videos that I unfortunately can't get from Charisma on Command is how strict Anthony is about being authentic versus creating a certain personality, being in the present moment vs being in your thoughts, and being all about what you can provide for others versus what you can do for yourself. Anthony is all about Charm and Charlie is all about Charisma. I have lost myself in the study of pickup for most of my life until I realized that pickup only masks the problems that you have within yourself that leads you to be a person that you're truly not. I choose charm because I dont have to be nervous trying to be someone I'm not and can just focus on being myself in the present moment and connecting with people that do the same.

I think this video best illustrates the difference between charisma and charm. Charisma, being the ‘performance’ that it is, involves a lot of work and external facades. Charm is something you develop from inside out. Best take home:Trust your real vibe. And from there you MAY even actually become funny/silly like you intend on being. But TRYING to put on a facade will immediately take you down a dark alley of performing. And no connection ever comes out of that. I never watched Charisma on Command's video to learn to be charismatic, but rather to learn why certain celebrities are so likable. That's how I interpret his stuff - not as advice but just breaking down why someone comes across as charming. I guess some people might then try to apply that to themselves, but as an introvert, I never internalized that this was something I could pull off and still seem genuine. I figured all this was intrinsic to people's personalities.

The high energy thing really works for me because i find that when i tell myself to be more energetic, it naturally brings my energy way up but if i let myself be energy be low i feel worse and i tend to fade into the background of the group. Of course it all depends on the mood of the room though.
@AnthonyRecenello4 жыл бұрын
Presence is the deciding factor here. When you tell yourself to be energetic, you are also signaling your mind to engage with the room. When you allow yourself to be low energy, you likely associate that with detaching mentally from the situation. But what if you could extract the presence from your energetic mood? What if you could feel that engaged demeanor while still being calm and reserved if you wanted to? That there is the secret sauce baybay.

makes sense. If you see ted talks with introverted people, it's as powerful or impactful as extroverts. It's all about confidence, genuine-ness and purpose I believe. The key to charisma is to be yourself. Being yourself shows confidence that you are not afraid of any judgement. Being yourself is genuine and not fake. Being yourself is unique coz nobody has that. People will get attracted to you because being yourself in current society is what they lack. So they come to you and subconsciously ask themselves "what makes this man charismatic" they want your vibe. Your true self you got nothing to hide.

The bad thing about a "How to" is that it'll eventually fail...because instead of learning how to make YOURSELF charismatic, you're learning how to act like somebody else. When you act like somebody else...you don't understand the nuance of what makes that "character" charismatic.

I love both channels, they develop two different aspects of a personality and they really help, but of course they can't replace who you really are but they can sharpen and tone it. In the end, we're all trying to be the best version of ourselves.

6:00 Thats exactly what i've learned recently. Enjoying every moment of life. It made me descover the world in a completely new dimension. Like one year ago, i was really depressed and wnated to end my life. But managed to take a turn and started Slefdeveloping, reading books about it, going to the gym and so on. I've started to enjoy my life and learned to love every single moment in life. So guys, if heres anyone who suffers, change your habits and focus on selfdevelopement. Start to see things trough your eyes not trough your mind. I made it out of depression, started new friendships and because i enjoy life like never before, people espacially girls started to want to be with me. Never give up on life! give up on your bad mind and your bad habits. LOVE YOURSELF because if you don't no one will!

Anthony, I watch Charlie's channel very often. Thank you for recognizing his talent. For such a young guy, he has great insight. The places where you disagree with him, I have to agree with you more. I think my own personality is similar rather than Charlie's. Whenever I put on being funny or outgoing I flop. When I'm more in tune with my own energy it feels more natural and sincere for the situation. I am not always charming and outgoing, but I can be at times. I connect to your teachings more than Charlie's. I'm happy to have discovered your channel. Thanks again for a great video!

I really agree to what you are saying at 18:00. I remember a sentence, from one of Irwin's Yalom books, saying that when we mask of suppress our emotions that we genuinely have, they will always find their way to be communicated into another person consciously of subconsciously. That's why we need to trust our emotions and have the confidence to be ourselves and don't try to hide or manipulate others. So having this in mind I noticed this phenomenon in my interactions and found it also to be true!

22:33 thats why i absolutely love listening to you and i find your videos so much helpful than Charisma On Command. the thing is you're really explaining the topic and make it understandable. with C.O.C. it's just receving those tips (that are a lot of times about how to not be yourself) but not understanding the complex topic such as relationships. that made me make so many mistakes while listening to C.O.C. than while listening to you. thank you Anthony, you're really someone we needed here on yt!

Hey Anthony 👋 it's Ash again.. I love COC and you too... But I don't know there is something about your philosophy which i think is more natural.... because before discovering your channel i used to watch Charlie everyday but more i practice them more i was stuck in my head as what should be my next move....but after listening to your audiobook everything is clear..bcoz now i know difference between charm and charisma.....as always love you.

I’ve been binge watching your videos for a few days and reallly like your stuff! Ive watched the charisma channel for some time and really like your feed back as a person who is a little more introverted like myself and the charisma videos seem to be coming from a more extroverted perspective. Great advice and keep it up!

"He is like a brother from another mother." - Yes you are. I feel like a conversation, in which you two talk about coaching and your approaches - where you agree and where you differ - and how you came to arrive at your own conclusions, would be a very interesting thing to watch and to listen to.

I think charisma on command is awesome. And to be honest it’s helped me grow A LOT in the past with anxiety socially/internally and breaking out of that. It legit taught me how to become so confident in myself. But I follow your channel for the same reason I follow his; to learn about people and how to become a better person myself .

Man you kinda tapped into some of the unspoken criticisms I have had of Charisma on Command for some time now... He has a lot of great insights... but just when I'm ready to trust him he comes off... tactical. You seem to have authenticity as a guiding star, which I appreciate, and it seems to give you some good insights regarding Charlie's breakdown. So thank you, glad I watched this video.

My fave CoC vid is probably the one on Craig Ferguson; Charlie clearly adores Craig, and it's so nice to see his genuine self shine like that. :)

You raised some great points there. Charisma on Command provides soundbite size, easily digestible and often on point advice, but he's lacking depth and nuance that is often key to making that advice work. Thank you for fleshing out his ideas and adding that much lacking depth and nuance!

What I found most interesting in this video was the way you were talking about charism on command, Charlie. You started the video with saying his is the channel would recommend second to your own, putting him on a lower level than yours. Which of course naturally with your experience and qualifications but and interesting choice to that at the beginning of the video as the first thing people hear. And your compliments to Charlie are majorly centered around him doing what you would do, though you do also compliment him on things he does well on his own. I also found it interesting when you disagreed with him you deployed the classical rhetorical tactic of anticipating criticism and responding to it. Which can be an effective tactic in strengthening your argument. Though depending on the use could also come off as defensive or manipulative. Especially as it can be combine with straw manning, which yours was not, as you didn't understand this person I love is a frequent response to internet criticism of anyone. You also followed up your criticism with several jokes and references to him being more numerically successful than you, almost mirroring what you both said about making jokes about the other persons success. But you did for most of those still make them comparatively to your success. Charlie has way more subscribers than you, not just a lot, and it would be nothing for him to get 10,000 likes but it would for you be something. Now this is only the fourth video of yours I've seen, so I can't tell if these speech and rhetorical patterns are typical for you, or warrant more consideration. Do you usually rely on slightly self effacing humor is typical of you. This is different than your other videos so I find the comparison intriguing. As for my general observations on the two of your styles of advise. Your approach is more wholistic helping people attune to their own sensibilities and use that to guide them into more positive relationships, and relies on a person's ability to recognize those instincts. His is more formulaic applying to a more specific situations. Which I could see being useful for people who aren't sure of their instincts because they aren't practiced in listening to them or misinterpret them. Though I think they would be less useful in general situations and more applicable in the form of using his lists almost like cbt, cognitive behavioral therapy, where you can practice the behavior pattern in theory mentally/on paper or even in person if it situation applies to the situation until the pattern becomes natural. Those are just my thought now I'm going to go watch some more of your videos.
@gabrielnicolettiestabel89514 жыл бұрын
I felt a similar thing with his comments on Charlie, not an aggressive pattern, but a weird and subtle way of showing superiority over his work and building up on compliments that he redirects to himself by saying that he thought the same. As my first impression this seemed a little bit off.

I think that if you put too much emphasis on social relationships and especially yourself in them, it becomes a source of anxiety not enjoyment. Not every social interaction is or needs to be meaningful, it can be like your afternoon coffee, a nice touch or add on to your day. You immediately become more attractive and charismatic when you learn to take social interaction at ease and you begin to be at ease if you don't take yourself or everyone else too seriously.

I think there's value in both of their styles. The advice of making something your own and being true to yourself is great because it means your being authentic, which is something that so many people lack because they are so often trying to be someone else. However sometimes you just need to be told, OK, if this is your objective here's how to do it. And you go "oooooooh yea he's right, that's a great point" and then you can take that as actionable advice and start to work on it.

The point about introversion and having high energy. Watching this I realised I'm generally a very low energy person. Being extroverted is hard for me and if I do something spontaneous it's something to take note of - I almost never do. That being said, I do take things too seriously sometimes and being a bit more silly and relaxed and having more fun could do me good. Learned something from both of you. Thanks :)

@makaylamikesell17604 жыл бұрын
Personally, I agree with Charlie on the energy thing. I think being introverted vs extroverted (or anything on that spectrum) is a completely different issue, as that whole concept is about where you get your energy from, not how much energy you have. I’m personally an ambivert, as I share the abilities of both introverts-getting energy from internalization-and extroverts-getting energy from socialization. Everyone’s energy wavers at times, and I don’t think that’s anything to be ashamed of, but I do agree that people generally appreciate when someone lightens the mood by upping the energy level of the room. That’s not to say that you should always do that, and I think Charlie’s point was just that Emilia is very good at it and does it often. But it is a helpful tool for stressful environments, and, being an actor myself, it is one that I strive to develop and make use of in those harsh audition settings.
