​@@magicstudios_sm short version: Hasbro first charged $80 to get the figure and then another $25 to get the same figure with the maskless head sculpt. The figure was supposed to be an updated version of the 2002 figure with new articulation and sculpt, which brought a lot of hype. What it turned out to be was a horrible rendition of Spider-Man with a bad sculpt, bad articulation, bad paint, and brittle plastic that was prone to snapping off at the legs. Because no other figure in that price range has failed so miserable in relation to the hype and what it was supposed to be, it's the worst!

@1:58 response 100% I seen Dwight say it in an OLD OLD con interview. They asked him about toad and he said the reason they haven't done him is because he's a one and done character, and if they made him people wouldn't have a reason to buy another toad. I do think this is why everyone keeps asking for these videos - it's fun in a dark humor kinda way 😂😂 Btw: I AM a ML fan but damn this year was slim pickings... there were a couple I wanted to buy but admittedly they weren't great (She Hulk I only bought to repaint in a F4 costume) and some I only wanted for the accessories rather than the figure itself like Phoenix and Ghost Rider (which I'll buy either second hand or on AliExpress only). As for all the other duds: hey, at least we should have some cheap fodder when they turn into peg warmers and go for sale at 75% discount 🤷🏻‍♂️

Angel is a good figure but they could make him look better. The hands are a little awkward, the hair looks weird, the second head's expression also weird. And a personal nitpick is his physique, I always picture him (and he has been depicted) as a not very buff guy, at least in the chest and torso

That Jackman Wolverine figure is actually pretty passable (if you swap out the skinny arms for the much more jacked bare arms from the tank top Jackman, add a series of washes and dry brushes, paint the side burns and stubble to match the unmasked head, and pose the figure to hide the hips). Damn, Dracula is number 4. I do know in the comics he does look like this in the red armor and tattered cape, while others the more traditional Dracula in suit with cape. Either way, I enjoy the figure sure it has flaws but having this and Operation Monster Force Dracula I get some variety on how Drac looks.

I think the main reason that people excuse the poor consistency of Marvel Legends is because the line makes so many characters that import companies will probably never even consider. All Bandai wants to make are the MCU iterations of characters, and while MAFEX and Mezco may make comic accurate figures, they’re only ever gonna do the big names. On top of that, given their current record, there are some big names that MAFEX probably won’t make just due to proportions. Thanos, Juggernaut, Beast, Colossus, The Thing, HULK. Hasbro may make some crappy figures, but they’re tolerable enough gap fillers, and they’re just cheap enough to convince people to open the ol’ wallet and pay for another character that they’ve never heard of in their life. Anyway, happy new year. 🙂

Agreed that they botched last stand spider-man hard. I put some longshot legs on him to give him some mildly better leg and ankle articulation but it's not enough to save the figure unfortunately! And his legs look awesome on my doctor strange. Reminds me more of the look he had in stories like Doctor Strange: The Oath.

Respect your opinion, though I think the Wolverine is flawed I think it's an otherwise decent figure. Sure the hips are a bit wide and protrude. But put him in any kind of pose that isn't standing? And they are fine. Spread his legs apart just a bit and the legs are flush with the body. And with the character he is? I don't think many would be posing him in just a static pose. The boot is as others pointed out a bit off. The headsculpt though is solid and the face printing tech really sells Jackman's likeness. I know a lot of people still wish he had the bare arms. I get that. For the folks willing to customize there are options out there. I didn't really like how bright the suit was. I would have liked some weathering/dirt on his suit. But I added some shading myself. Chromed his claws too. I think at the end of the day it is a $25 figure. It's not a hot toys, or a Mafex, etc. There are those ZD Toys ones but they are even more flawed than the hasbro. At least Hasbro got the gold trim on Deadpool and sheaths for his katanas. And the Hasbro is still the only figure in this price range that has the alternate unmasked head sculpt. There is a Mezco but I am sorry for a $125 figure? The likeness is not there. I actually think the Hasbro has a better Jackman likeness than the Mezco. I would just add that I think comparing Jada toys is a bit of a flawed comparison. Yes Jada has made great Street Fighter figures. However, I think it is important to remember that Jada does not have the sheer amount of overhead that Hasbro has. I am not saying that makes Hasbro above criticism. Just that Hasbro probably pays comparatively more for the Marvel/Star Wars license than Jada pays for the likes of Street Fighter. And Hasbro has to make guaranteed payments to Disney. While there are certainly quality control issues? Hasbro can't really help if Disney put out films that flop and then leave Hasbro with unsellable merchandise. They recently had to outsource Power Rangers to playmates. Why they didn't have Baldur's Gate 3 figures for their D&D line ready for the launch of the game? I don't know. I mean there is a reason you are lucky to get a freaking blaster in a black series figure when you get multiple accessories in a Jada Street Fighter figure. Star Wars was/has been the most expensive license typically. (Not sure if that remains true today, but it was in the 90's with Lucas even getting part ownership of Hasbro). It's not that Hasbro are even incapable of making good figures. Their own GI Joe Classified line has tons more accessories than black series/Legends. I will be sure to check out your top 10 best Marvel Legends and maybe there will be some i overlooked or missed.

Spider Man PS4 sold more than double the amount of units than Street Fighter V. This is despite SM being a console exclusive, and SF being a video game franchise. Hasbro pays more for Marvel than Jada for Street FIghter because Marvel figures have far more demand than Street Fighter figures. Hasbro can sell far more Wolverine figures than Jada can sell Ryu figures. The high licencing costs should not be offloaded to the consumer, as that is a decision Hasbro made, to sell Marvel figures. They choose to pay those costs because Marvel sell more than Joe and Street Fighter. The same applies to Star Wars, as those are basically the two biggest pop culture franchises. As it stands, Hasbro gets all of the benefits that come with being the exclusive producer of Marvel figures at this scale in the west, and none of the costs/risks, as they have offloaded those entirely on the buyers. They get away with this only because people are lowering their standards to an absurd degree its entirely reasonable to expect good proportions and shading at 25$. Essentially what you are saying is that at the 25$ price point, we shouldn't expect quality figures, and that is frankly ridiculous. The figure shouldn't need to be posed just to look good.

@killerdiva7771 im not suggesting that folks are wrong for wanting more for their money. I think we all do at the end of the day. And yes while your point about spiderman, wolverine etc is fair. They are popular and do sell. Hasbro also releases a lot of stuff that doesnt. Is the volume they make on the popular characters enough to offset taking a wash on others that frankly are over produced. Star wars does not have the same pull it once had. I think some articles noted that even legacy characters aren't really selling now. Disney has badly damaged star wars. They released a 4" line with less articulation and paint apps and charged $10 for them. These too ended up at Ollies in bulk. And take the adventure series as another example. Indiana Jones is a series that is 40 years old now. I think its fair to say its audience skews older. So what did they do? They released pegwarmers like Helena Shaw, Voller and Renaldo over releasing say Mola Ram. And I think that was a Disney move. I mean you also had a ton of Marvel Legends and other Marvel product that simply did not sell. A lot of Wakanda forever, shang chi, the eternals all were overproduced and didnt sell. I dont dispute what you are saying about popular characters. But are they enough to offset countless others and lines that tanked? Hard to day without numbers. But you dont just outsource an entire line to playmates like the power rangers if you are doing well. I have seen some suggest McFarlane should get Legends but I don't think that would really help as McFarlane has its own issues. Also to your point about the popular figures? Again while I dont think the Wolverine is bad and it certainly has its flaws. I would say that if these sre the figures that are going to make them more money, that should be all the more reason to try and release solid figures without flaws like that boot on Wolverine. Would you like if they outsourced legends to Jada?
