3 slow songs, with a title track that is slow at parts as well, and a hideous unnecessary remix in a mini album was bound to be meh from the start. What were they thinking, these songs are good no doubt, but that's about it, just these songs with an average title track won't cut it. Had it been a full album with other upbeat songs, it would have made for a more versatile album, and also easier for the people to handle this new direction for the group. I know they have more songs, they release a predebut song every album. But regardless my girls are back so best believe I am going to get turnt up on the album. Teddy needs some rest to be very honest.

I'm actually not so sure about that. I mean, it doesn't exactly sound like their other songs, but Hope not for example gives me strong Stay vibes, especially with the "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah". It has kind of a county feeling tbh., and Kick it reminds me of Forever Young...sadly not the good part, though. anthony too I personally think it does. Do I think the songs themselves could’ve been arranged a little better ? Yea definitely. I wasnt feeling the chanting chorus parts in some of them, etc. but rosé really got to shine in this album as main vocal with her high notes and range. So did jisoo. And as much as I like rap, i really appreciated that there was a lack of rap, and that Jennie and Lisa got to show that they can be on the same level as the vocal line when given the chance. Do I think is album is better than Square Up? No, I personally don’t, but I really really liked that they got to express their talents here. This is a much more emotional album than previous have been, but it's still so amazingly good. 💖💖💖💖 The albums feel like a good progression to me, with the early ones having a very optimistic almost naive vibe, very youthful, and very upbeat, then came the girl power, on top of the world phase, and now we're at a more mature, emotional phase with "Kick It" and "Kill This Love" feeling like the a bad relationship coming to an end and "Don't Know What To Do" and "Hope Not" feeling like the grieving and beginning of recovery afterward. I feel like "Kick It" is the point where they realize a relationship isn't working because their partner is controlling or such and they're saying "hey, you can't control me, I'm my own person", " Kill This Love" is the end of the relationship and the breakup, probably with advice from friends, with "we've got to kill this love, it's sad but true. We've got to kill this love before it kills you, too". " Don't know what to do is the grieving after, the realization that you're alone fully hitting you, trying to figure out how to rebuild yourself without this person you loved in your life. "Hope Not" feels like the later stages of grief to me, wondering if you were right in ending things, wondering if being with the person you loved might be been worth the pain involved, but ultimately accepting that you really weren't right for each other and hoping they find happiness anyway, even if it's not with you. My favorite song is "Hope Not". It's such a beautiful song and a drastic departure from BLACKPINK's previous work, but not every song needs to be upbeat, not every song needs a buildup and a drop. Sometimes you just need an amazing ballad, and I absolutely love it and this album. As for the remix, it's a remix. Remixes don't generally add much, just change things, and that's what this one did, changing the whole feel of the song to a much more dance-y/club kind of vibe. I was a bit disappointed it dropped the end bit on first listen, but after a few listens I can see how it wouldn't really fit into the feel of the remix as well as it did the original. I feel like a lot of the people disappointed by this album were really expecting and hoping for more of the same upbeat, super hype style that BLACKPINK has done quite a bit in the past. I really think people will appreciate it more once they've given it a few listens and given time for the initial shock of the departure from form from their more recent work that this is to wear off and start to see the songs more for themselves and less for what they're not. I'd love to see a full length album as much as everyone else, and I'm hoping this album paves the way for future albums to have a much wider range to them, with room for upbeat songs like "Forever Young" and "As If It's Your Last", badass songs like "DDU-DU DDU-DU" and "Kill This Love", and ballads like "Stay" and "Hope Not."

Love your honesty. Probably you are the first to frankly speak the true feelings. I mean, seriously, you think this album is crazily good...

Rose was born in New Zealand and lived in Australia for a long tome before going to Korea, so that’s why she had an Australian accent.

I feel the same way as you feel on a lot of these tracks. It was still really good tho overall!

Tbh i'm not really feel this album, their vocal their rap is good but the music production is not really good. And its YG fault. For me BP's debut album is the best album from bp every songs is bop ughh i miss it 😞😞

The more i listen to the ep the more the songs grow on me but i still think its their weakest songs we have gotten from them the songs are allright i just expected more from blackpink

I respect your opinion but I actully love the mini album. The side tracks have this slower and balled sounds which I been waiting for. Since stay was their only ballad song. And i like the fact that their showing their vocals especially lisa and jisoo. I wish they would show jennie potential in her rapping but I'm glad that lisa rap. Overall I'm disappointed at yg for not letting the girls have a full album. And not letting them to produce and write their songs since they have potential in making their own songs

I love your reaction and how honest it is The song is good but kinda weird to be real. My fave is Kick It lmao I don’t really feel the ddu du remix it’s really meh for me we could have another new song instead and it would be awesome and we know they’re recording A LOT of stuff there’s one song come from their predebut but whatever I take what I can from YG 😂

People need to get used to soft drops. A lot of people now are used to DAMN CLUB BANGER MUSIC.

No point in having a ddu-ddu remix (which is okay not even great imo) when we could have gotten a new song smh

I like “Kill this love” because it shows their hip-hoppish style.And “Dont know what to do” because they blessed us with their vocals. I love “Kick it” too.I just can’t with Lisa’s singing voice.🥰💜💕

honestly i feel like yg just isn’t trying hard enough they have SO much potential to try new and unique sounds especially since blackpink are so big it’s easier because they’re less likely to flop whereas if they were small it’s different. i’ve heard better songs coming from smaller girl groups but i still like the album it’s just a let down especially since we’ve waited so long

They don't need the big drop that you guys are talking about because they are trying a different kind of concept.... They always say that Blackpink go for a black concept so they went for pink...
@ssd9305 жыл бұрын
of course they don't need a big drop but for me personally the production is very lacking, it feels empty. their vocals really shine and they sound great but people are allowed to be disappointed when they wait for almost for a year for a comeback and then get stuff that for them doesn't grab them
@mami114205 жыл бұрын
It’s a no for me, they’re talented as fuck and deserve better. Fans will like it or not and also force themselves to listen for numbers. Idc about numbers, I want the music and passion. I didn’t get much of that from this album sadly. Lyrics were really on point at least and I love lyrics that are relatable. Maybe next comeback? Folks keep talking about Coachella and that crap isn’t for me and maybe that’s why but seriously... THEY DESERVE BETTER because they are able to do so damn much with the talents they possess.
@AoiAme2255 жыл бұрын
Tbh honest the only songs I really liked from this album were 'don't know what to do' and 'kick it' but I'm still happy they got a comeback I guess😊

Dont know what to do is a nice song...but the feeling is plain. It just a laid back song. U got to know...YGE is having a hard time right now. And YGE put Blackpink having a comeback in this moment is crucial to YGE. All eyes are with BP and YGE. BP had to comeback more strong and powerful. Ur likeness is subjective. But why YGE choose that song as a title track...its only because BP are capable of doing it. Kill this Love is straight forward lyrics...their music is like giving statement...this is BLACKPINK. Kill This Love focus on their raps and vocal this time. U may call Dont know what to do and Dalla Dalla from Itzy might with the same par...but to choose Dont Know What To Do as the title track or Kick It for their comeback not going to give them more impact after their successful comeback with 4D. All songs of this EP Blackpink album are considered worth to be the title song (exclude remix 4D because its only remix) because YGE is all about quality. But YGE chose KTL for this comeback giving more hype and impact than 4D and its proven.

YES. I feel like Kill This Love’s chorus was also empty and that it needed the chorus like Dont Know What To Do. The subtitle track is better for me too compared with the title track. Lol

YG waited too long to showcase BlackPinks key vocals. The girls are awesome and should've been able to experiment beforehand. Stay is still the queen of the BP revolution imo, I'm honestly sad for those who didn't appreciate that one. Thnx for checking out the album Ant! I'm not gonna comment about DDD remix, thats an automatic skip lol

This album didn't reach my expectations...I didn't like KTL at all and in general it felt...rushed, not well thought or produced.
@jenrubykim35295 жыл бұрын
I believe KTL is like the experimental album YG producers had made. Unpolished and some parts are lacking. Compared to Square Up and KTL, definitely Square Up is on another level. KTL tracks are like those nearly on reject songs lmao. Even Kill This Love track, I ain't feeling it too much. Too much hiphop than DDDD. Hope their next album will be more on groove/dance genre or more on pop/trap/party etc. and not hiphop anymore.

ngl i'm kind of surprised by how much you disliked dx4 remix as it's pretty much the only thing i find listenable on the ep (with maybe the exception of hope not) but hardstyle isn't everybodys thing so i can understand that. this whole ep was not it and i feel like since pwf and aiiyl their music has been going downhill. i really disliked square up too but at least it's title was catchy anyways i hope they can get themselves together
