@momanessie3 жыл бұрын
I think a lot of people who are critical of “my man is on another level” subconsciously assume that Got the Beat women are singing about a relationship wherein the man is elevated. Because of the superior level of talent and success Got the Beat women possess which I highly respect, I naturally assumed that the man they sing about is a good man equal to (not above) and worthy of each one of them and therefore the woman who disrespectfully continues to cross relationship borders is definitely of a lower “level” than the couple in the song. This is why I interpreted this song to convey the notion “step back he’s mine and you’ll never get him because I’M on a level you can’t reach”.

Bc even in the bridge they said all boys are the same etc etc so the way I interpreted it was: yes all boys are the same but just don’t take what’s mine. Yk Avril Lavigne’s song Girlfriend? This seems like the response to it if there ever was one. Idk man, it’s just a song. I’ve seen people sending real hate but then they have the “hey mama” challenge on their acc and it’s like..that song has incredibly stereotypical lyrics about women and no one seems to care about that 💀 if you’re gonna criticize lyrics, hold all songs equally. Idu why everyone is exaggerating situation. It might be disappointing bcs people expected different kind of self empowerment anthem but still these lyrics also suggest women empowerment where a girl has strong personality who can protect her love, relationship on her own. I mean it's always not to be guy to protect his partner or love. A girl can also do this when some other person is meddling and not listening to her partner. She can also protect her man. So people saying it's misogynist or awful are just hypocrites with double standards.

Ik ppl are defending the lyrics by saying this is common in the west but yall are totally missing the whole point, the problem with the lyrics is because of the concept of the group and not the lyrics itself. The group being named GIRLS ON TOP where their first song is literally a girl bringing another girl down by calling her a 'silly girl' and how she could never be on 'his level' is straight disgusting and not what I would expect for literally their first song! Its more about showing others Us Girl confidence n showing others to step back. Not even girls shaming or girls fight. Its more about see i not that easy to be bully, to be hurt n lose cuz of you .. its like before some girls will get hurt by other girls n they lose their confident n feeling etc, but not now for girls with confident etc.. And its more like talkong about those kind of girls that cant stop 'pestering' the man tho they know hes in a rs n not that interest w him(we hv seen this kind in real life right?) , n its making the man tired n sick cuz that kind of girl might feel like poison, causing trouble for the rs- the man hv to explain to the partner etc. N hv no choice(not talking abt flirty man) so this is the time the partner stood out to show the kind of girl to step back, dont just live in your dream etc, hes not interested w you whatsoever, so step back...i seriously dont think its shaming any girl, or making Girls on top seem low or so. Its also kind of Girls power. It can even be like 1 for the bestie who hv this situation n w this song to back her up...idk whats so bad about this cuz theres much worst lyric ive seen n heard.. N whats more when ever theres news or any of this in real life. Many of those(strongly criticise e lyrics) will start bashing criticise n insult the third party or those girls. But for music they dont allow like what??? They can say n criticise ,bashing mocking those . Hurting the girls ,either parties. N insulting,blaming, shaming. I think the song is good but the lyrics are definitely a turn off. It doesn’t feel like the lyrics focus on the women at all. They’re focusing on some man that I don’t care about & giving him credit. I’ll watch the video without subtitles 🤣

Nothing wrong with the lyrics, at all. It's only self-righteous pseudo-feminists who have a problem with it.

No not really. People have differing opinions. I personally don’t think there’s anything WRONG with it. You can find many songs with lyrics pertaining the exact same thing. It just felt odd. When you listen to the song you would think that the lyrics had something to do with “step back IM the baddest in the room” but then you get “step back from my man HES the baddest in the room” it’s kind of a throw off. But to each their own

I think the raps are bad imo, they don’t fit the song imo. The instrumental is very confusing to me but it’s not bad. I can listen much easier than Sticker etc. Overall I liked it, it was very chaotic lol love that.
